Even fan-only mode is still really loud for some reason so it just seems like bad fan design, it's not the actual AC part of it that is loud. ... I have this same one. The main issue is the fact that they are LOUD AS FUCK."

I have the 9000 BTU version and it's loud as hell which is normal for these units, but it's ALWAYS loud, it doesn't have a not-loud mode like my old (but now dead) unit had. kash_if 0.3>ProBreeze Check their price right now. This one is Meaco which is usually considered a better brand (I have Probreeze bought for £150 on sale). Maybe less noise as this one is 52 dB.

kingrikk 0.1We used to have a Meaco one from Costco within that price range, and that broke within a year. Since then we tried an AEG one which was terrible, and now have a De’Longhi Pinguino. It looks like Currys have a couple near your price range. We also have a still working De’Longhi dehumidifier which is probably old enough to vote, and so while now I’ve praised them on the internet I’m sure they’ll both break immediately, I have some faith in the brand. Would definitely suggest considering spending a little extra on one of the Pinguinos if you can.

Mango_Weasel 0.1Mine is a Meaco one with the hose out the window and works very well for cooling a room and making it less humid, it is quite noisy though and the window kit is a bit of a faff
