"The cats are finally not terrified of it ... I can set it to quiet mode where it is barely audible ... Even quiet mode picks everything up just fine."

"Noise on the 3i is next to zero."

"another plus for Alen is that they are insanely quiet. I have a 45i and 75i and they are excellent."

"I have a 1400 square foot house that has, in the past, had three portable single hose units trying to cool it down unsuccessfully. I bought a dual hose Midea unit used and have since bought two more. Now the house is cool"

"Hol dir die Midea Portasplit. Die hat eine Kühlleitung die in der Praxis das 4-Fache ist."

"seit einem Jahr beschert uns das Ding einen super Schlaf auch im Hochsommer"

"Efficiency - because the filters are more efficient, it requires less energy to pull air through them. ... PC fans use DC motors, which use 1/10 of the energy and are much quieter than AC motors. ... They're also are engineered to be virtually silent. ... To get the same amount of air cleaning power one unit achieved with my winix 5200-2 I'd have to run it at turbo mode and it's just way too loud. Plus the corsi rose thal box built with pc fans pulled 8 watts vs the winix pulling about 60 at turbo. My electricity rates in CA are super expensive and it saves hundreds of dollars a year in energy and filter costs to go with a Corsi Rosenthal box."

"I am able to cool of my Appartement to a nice 23 C without too much effort and almost no noise, with actually a quite low power use. It’s genius!"

"Verbraucht rund 70 prozent weniger Strom"

"My number one non-negotiable feature is a model with auto-evaporation. ... The Whynter ARC-1230WN (and most of Whynter's dual-hose models) has auto-evaporation, which means in most climates, you won’t need to manually empty it. ... I’m in a moderately humid area, and I’ve never had to drain it."

"I have a hose and bucket and it’s been completely dry. Running almost every night for past 2-3months"

"Never had to yet."

"I live in South Fl so the garage gets super hot, with this running I can get the whole garage down the low 70’s maybe 68,69 with a fan helping blow it around."

"it makes my whole place cold"

"I have it in my living room right now with vaulted ceilings. Keeps it 72 at 100 degrees outside so far"

"I really despise levoit. I'll never buy anything from them again. Their customer service and "warranty" are awful ... Bought two smart humidifiers, both were defective. Reached out and they sent me a replacement, which also was defective. ... Wanted to just return them and get a refund, but they only offered a credit. The credit I got was less than the current cost of a new product, so I would've had to pay even more. ... By the way, this whole process took more than a month. Customer service was extremely slow with updates."

"The problem with Coway is poor customer service. ... They tell me to return it to Amazon, but I don't have the original package. So I'm supposed to purchase a new box from them to return to Amazon. Amazon won't accept it anyway because it's outside the 30 day return window. Coway's solution is to stop responding to emails."

"once they no longer support the router they throttle your internet speed so you can buy a new one. ... when it was no longer being supported with the last update it was throttle to 200 mbs."

"That thing don't do shit in a living room."

"Your living room is a bit trickier if it's about 3x size of your bedroom (living room: 576 sq. ft.). Minimum CADRs here should be 384 CFM, but should probably be at least 400 CFM - 500 CFM for dust storms. Unfortunately there's no one Coway model to fit the bill. Both the Coway Airmega 300S and Airmega 400S have lower CADRs. ... In this case, you need two purifiers in the living room potentially (mix or match the models mentioned above)."

"Sólo sirven para estancias pequeñas o medianas, no para toda una vivienda."

"I returned it because the hose is just so big and very awkward to get into a window."

"The only thing I will warn you about: the hose set up is problematic. ... Twisting the unit side to side more than a little bit is impossible."

"These things are so hard to install!!"

"Unfortunately did not install mine until after the Amazon return window ended and I had collapsed the box. I had emails with them back and forth about the smell, assuming that it was covered under the warranty. They were not very helpful. In fact they were very dismissive and told me to get someone to clean it (almost as expensive as the air conditioner) or clean it myself (which I believe would void the warranty) so I used the wick trick to drain water from the a/c and purchased an extended warranty. ... I don't understand why they would have created an AC that didn't drain. ... My brother has two of them, one of which is full of mold"

"it got full of mold in 6 months ... I tried to remove the casing to clean the mold but it’s just in a really inaccessible spot deep in the cold air vent."

I got this same unit for the same price, but mine has this constant rattle sound. Does anyone have any experience with this and have a way to fix it? I'd rather not return it because frankly it was a huge pain in the ass to get home.

Dual or concentric hose models are the best bet. Inverter is good for noise. I have a midea inverter, with concentric hose that is great

Ours from ALDI is loud and weak. I set up a Midea unit for a friend and that is a beast! I was amazed.

r/CasualUK • Why didn’t anyone tell me how compact and effective these portable air conditioners are? Why was I suffering through the last heat wave 💀 ->

I have this to cool my living room, dining room, and kitchen. There are no doors between these rooms so it works great. Each bedroom has the midea U (except for the 4 year old, she just gets an el cheapo unit that only runs for a couple hours at bedtime)
