I’ve purchased a couple of Midea 10k smart inverter units and have had no issues so far. Time will tell how long they last though.

Dual or concentric hose models are the best bet. Inverter is good for noise. I have a midea inverter, with concentric hose that is great

I have three Midea inverter portable units that actually keep a 1400 square foot house cool. The dual hose set up is kind of weird, but it works. They are all incredibly energy efficient. They are also pretty expensive. I got a couple of them used and one much cheaper than everywhere else at Costco. One of the best things about them is, once they cool things down, they ramp down and run really quiet.

I just put the Midea back in the window over the weekend, though it's the more expensive one Costco sold in 2023 with the heater. It's a bit loud when the condenser kicks in depending on mode but did the job. Had a second Midea like the one you linked last summer and the Dry function didn't work. Called Midea and they said to take it back to Costco and get my money back, no questions asked. What's your room size? One is 12,000 and the other is only 8,000. You don't want it too big for your room.

I got this same unit for the same price, but mine has this constant rattle sound. Does anyone have any experience with this and have a way to fix it? I'd rather not return it because frankly it was a huge pain in the ass to get home.

I have this to cool my living room, dining room, and kitchen. There are no doors between these rooms so it works great. Each bedroom has the midea U (except for the 4 year old, she just gets an el cheapo unit that only runs for a couple hours at bedtime)

I paid $450 for it. It's been running throughout the day in 90F degree. Able to keep my room (110sqft) steady at 75F. Electricity average around $2/day. Worth it.

A fürdőben lévő szellőzőn keresztül lehozta a cigiszagot a felsőszomszédtól aki bent bagózott a lakásban.

I am using a Toshiba and a Midea in the house. Toshiba must be a subsidiary of Midea because the Midea Smart Home app can recognize and control the Toshiba portable unit as well. I use the app to control the units remotely.

It keeps our small bedroom cool but it got full of mold in 6 months. I tried to remove the casing to clean the mold but it’s just in a really inaccessible spot deep in the cold air vent.

Midea hatte ich mir auch mal zugelegt. Nach zwei Jahren sind die Schläuche für das Kondenswasser einfach zerbröselt. Nun läuft überall Wasser aus. Kann ich absolut nicht empfehlen

I have a portable AC from Midea. Bought it for $500 from Sam’s club, cut a hole in the bottom of my garage door and made it clip in there. I live in South Fl so the garage gets super hot, with this running I can get the whole garage down the low 70’s maybe 68,69 with a fan helping blow it around. I don’t use it all the time so I also made a piece of wood as a block off so I can take the exhaust hose off and close up the hole I made. Haven’t insulated the door yet but it’s on my list to do lol.

We have Mideas! I'm in the suburbs on a fairly quiet street, so I don't know if I can say definitively if the sound is less than a typical a/c, but I'd imagine it's less. It's a great a/c unit regardless, it runs so much quieter than a regular one. If I'm doing a quick audition I'll leave it on (I turn it off for paid gigs), which I could never do with our old a/c units. I would think you could throw some insulation blankets over it if it feels like it's too loud. Good luck -- stay cool!

Unfortunately did not install mine until after the Amazon return window ended and I had collapsed the box. I had emails with them back and forth about the smell, assuming that it was covered under the warranty. They were not very helpful. In fact they were very dismissive and told me to get someone to clean it (almost as expensive as the air conditioner) or clean it myself (which I believe would void the warranty) so I used the wick trick to drain water from the a/c and purchased an extended warranty.

I do have a Costco membership now. Costco is so much easier to deal with than Amazon. A much better company. I would never spend that much money on anything at Amazon ever again!! I just sent an email for my refund and forwarded my support communication along with it. I doubt I can get my extended warranty refunded.

I used to have 2 of these. 1 never cooled right out of the box. The other one had its hose cracked after 2 summers. Would I buy another? No. But it may work out ok for you so ymmv.

Yes, I returned it because the hose is just so big and very awkward to get into a window. That’s the only drawback I think. I have four of the Midea U-shape units and overall I prefer those.

Bought one 2 days ago. Works good but makes a terrible high frequency sound and I have to run the fan on high to drown it out. So be warned.

I just got this same unit, it was keeping our living room a real nice 75 degrees, on some 95 degree outside days...this was about a week long stint...but today it will NOT get COLD, and room temp is going up and up. Pretty bummed because its a nice unit, quiet, powerful when it was working.

Looks to be the same model except in white. It's a very good deal. If your only option is a portable AC, this model is the second best model you can get. The only thing better is the same device which comes with a heat pump. The same machine (rebranded as Toshiba) is also sold at Home Depot and can be cheaper sometimes though not as cheap as the current deal.

Had great success with their window units. They really pump and are some of the quietest ones available. I have these 2 of these exact portable units and one fills up with condensation and has to be drained every 15 minutes. I ended up having to jury rig a constant drain hose to it and it works fine but I’ve never had to do that with a portable before. Support was crap. Just said “it has to have a drain hose connected when running in dry mode” even though I told them repeatedly it was not in dry mode. It was in “cool mode” which isn’t even mentioned in the generic users manual. Honestly I’d avoid this portable unit and get something else. If a window unit is an option I found both their traditional and u shaped window units to be fantastic.
