I had emails with them back and forth about the smell, assuming that it was covered under the warranty. They were not very helpful. In fact they were very dismissive and told me to get someone to clean it (almost as expensive as the air conditioner) or clean it myself (which I believe would void the warranty) so I used the wick trick to drain water from the a/c and purchased an extended warranty. ... I don't understand why they would have created an AC that didn't drain. ... My brother has two of them, one of which is full of mold"

Different_Routine_52 1.0I have a Midea 1.0hp that I infrequently use in my room. The lowest temp is 17 degree but hardly can make a 10x12ft room very cold. One thing you have to know is the exhaust hose will produce heat so it's better if you can make it as short as possible from the portable to the window. If you want a portable with inverter, you should check out the price because I think it's like 4-5 times more than a normal portable. I have the Midea probably more than 5 years now.

diesel_toaster 0.0I have this to cool my living room, dining room, and kitchen. There are no doors between these rooms so it works great. Each bedroom has the midea U (except for the 4 year old, she just gets an el cheapo unit that only runs for a couple hours at bedtime)
