"I have that unit and absolutely love it for its cooling power to noise output."
"It's a great a/c unit regardless, it runs so much quieter than a regular one. ... If I'm doing a quick audition I'll leave it on (I turn it off for paid gigs), which I could never do with our old a/c units."

"I have it in my living room right now with vaulted ceilings. Keeps it 72 at 100 degrees outside so far"
"I live in South Fl so the garage gets super hot, with this running I can get the whole garage down the low 70’s maybe 68,69 with a fan helping blow it around."
"It's been running throughout the day in 90F degree. Able to keep my room (110sqft) steady at 75F."

"It's a very good deal. ... The same machine (rebranded as Toshiba) is also sold at Home Depot and can be cheaper sometimes though not as cheap as the current deal."
"Electricity average around $2/day."

"Unfortunately did not install mine until after the Amazon return window ended and I had collapsed the box. I had emails with them back and forth about the smell, assuming that it was covered under the warranty. They were not very helpful. In fact they were very dismissive and told me to get someone to clean it (almost as expensive as the air conditioner) or clean it myself (which I believe would void the warranty) so I used the wick trick to drain water from the a/c and purchased an extended warranty. ... I don't understand why they would have created an AC that didn't drain. ... My brother has two of them, one of which is full of mold"
"one fills up with condensation and has to be drained every 15 minutes. ... I ended up having to jury rig a constant drain hose to it and it works fine but I’ve never had to do that with a portable before."
"Support was crap. ... Just said “it has to have a drain hose connected when running in dry mode” even though I told them repeatedly it was not in dry mode. ... It was in “cool mode” which isn’t even mentioned in the generic users manual."

"it got full of mold in 6 months ... I tried to remove the casing to clean the mold but it’s just in a really inaccessible spot deep in the cold air vent."

"1 never cooled right out of the box."
"but today it will NOT get COLD, and room temp is going up and up."
"That thing don't do shit in a living room."
My u-shape midea caught in the recall, found mold on fan blades so I need to switch (i have birds). Been looking at switching to the inverter tech, I read there's no whine as the AC starts and was wondering how they perform overall. The whining is very subtle, but since it's in my bedroom the birds shift every time it kicks on when they're supposed to be sleeping.
My u-shaped Midea MAW08AV1QWT-C uses a standard rotary compressor.
paid $226 for this.. was the only one available at walmart im using it for my bedroom which is located above the garage my room is a magnet to heat! our hvac is down right now, had to get something. my room is the smallest one in the house: 13ft length by 12ft width. when i purchased it today it was sold laying on its side. i’m really hoping it’s ok. it’s been rough being in the house in california temperatures. hvac companies and my parents’ home warranty company have been dragging their feet and really doing my parents dirty. anyway i’m a bit worried about this thing being sold laying on its side at walmart, hoping it sounds normal too it is a bit loud but has helped with keeping my room slightly cooler. i also noticed when i had it run about an hour on the ‘dry’ setting which is the only setting the remote control allows this thing to run on, it kinda shifts when turning off like it kicks in a way? it’s hard to explain. manually pressing mode on the top, im able to put it on the cool setting.
it works like a champ!!
i got it to work! phew! it’s now on fan, and low!
I have this unit, sounds about the same. Regarding dry mode, you can use the giant (M) button on the top of the unit to cycle the various modes. When in cool mode, the temperature displayed on the top of the unit is the set temperature and not the current sensed temperature. There should be a mode button on your remote control to cycle the modes too. Regarding the unit being sold from the store on it's side... I hope it was standing upright for a few hours in your home before you managed to make it produce any cold air at all..
Y como lo drena vino con una manguerita pero el mio no para de gotiar
El mio lo acabo de comprar sale mucha agua
Yo estoy batayando con gotera
Man that compressor is brutal.
It’s so so loud. But I get it. It’s necessary. It was within reach.
I just put the Midea back in the window over the weekend, though it's the more expensive one Costco sold in 2023 with the heater. It's a bit loud when the condenser kicks in depending on mode but did the job. Had a second Midea like the one you linked last summer and the Dry function didn't work. Called Midea and they said to take it back to Costco and get my money back, no questions asked. What's your room size? One is 12,000 and the other is only 8,000. You don't want it too big for your room.
I got this same unit for the same price, but mine has this constant rattle sound. Does anyone have any experience with this and have a way to fix it? I'd rather not return it because frankly it was a huge pain in the ass to get home.
Got the same one from costco and makes gaming in my upstairs office cool during the hottest days of summer! And no water drain!!!
350? Shit this unit was like 450 at my Costco. Returned for a swamp cooler, its colorado so swamp cooler works wonders.
I have it in my living room right now with vaulted ceilings. Keeps it 72 at 100 degrees outside so far
