If you can grab a dehumidifier, you can [grab an AC](https://tradedepot.co.nz/midea-portable-air-conditioner-2-6kw) while you're at it. Running one of each gives best results for air comfort, although I recommend elevating the portable AC on a chair or table and running its drain hose into a bucket so that it doesn't continually shut off due to its condensation tank being full. Note that the portable AC needs to be beside an open window that its hot air exhaust hose can go out of.

Bad news for me is my Midea U-shaped in-window AC is on the recall list. I bought it a year ago at Costco on sale for around $300. I assume even if I might get a full refund, I probably won’t be able to get a new one with the same 12k BTU for $300, which makes me so angry. Anyway, we just bought the exact same portable model as you, but for $499 at Costco in the Seattle area. You got such a good deal. Anyway, I love this AC unit, it’s amazing! It’s currently 73 degrees inside the room where we put it, but it’s 84 degrees outside the house. It could be even colder in here (the machine is capable of that), but we don’t want to feel too cold, LOL. Every summer until now, I have suffered so much (the heat makes my health issue temporarily much worse, until the air cools down). I really hope this one won’t be recalled in the future

Got the same one from costco and makes gaming in my upstairs office cool during the hottest days of summer! And no water drain!!!

Never a single hose, dual hose inverter unit if it must be portable (Inverter units can be quieter and use less energy because they don't just blow at full power unless needed) I would get a window unit if you can. make sure you get the correct size unit. My midea doesn't leak, but I don't think that's actually a wide scale issue lol.

The Midea can pull 1200W easily when it's cooling the flat down on boost mode. Normally it's running around 300-500W when keeping the temperature stable. 24° 65m2.

Ours from ALDI is loud and weak. I set up a Midea unit for a friend and that is a beast! I was amazed.
