r/AirConditionersNeed a new portable air conditioner, suspicious at how cheap this is... Please help.

I have a Princess 9k BTU I got a couple years ago and happy with it, although it could be slightly better for my size room. I use it to cool my office and I now need another one to cool our bedroom. I want to get something a big more powerful and I was looking at 12-14k BTU. I'm looking at this [Costway 14k](https://www.amazon.co.uk/COSTWAY-Portable-Conditioner-12000BTU-Dehumidifier/dp/B0DHVD9PXG/ref=sr_1_4?crid=JLW3DY2ROGTM&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.iETCuICBRi3k5VoacqLGPoKsu9Jmt1wS4-IWY2nFN8SuoovhCXNf1f6pJ0FlEyznHpgayJgUtDI4XVfnt5RhomleGA5E85D5Sn-9aeIwIRZFAF4t9aRSiFxEottX_GmwTNKQzlLGvt9p152aTcolof_wN9Xe1iw2pVtp3s5cR7Z1TARO3tlEVKIY7Ejecgy9YuquwhGTY2OmCEW_br_1NRI8MVmEg3NAVLwaayzNm30.AN_vEYi13bbhZgMKOUqjPao10ggBL0PGwmX1cIw9Osw&dib_tag=se&keywords=Costway%2B14000%2Bairconditioner&qid=1745865400&sprefix=costway%2B14000%2Bairconditioner%2Caps%2C65&sr=8-4&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.d7e5a2de-8759-4da3-993c-d11b6e3d217f&th=1), but it's making me suspicious, the 14 is even cheaper than the 12k version. It's £289. The alternative I was looking at is this [Princess 12k](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Princess-Mobile-Conditioner-Control-Dehumidifer/dp/B09XBH7DVZ/ref=sr_1_5?crid=VKC9Z6XRDIR6&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.HyU9BWOpfm3Ocm6bRJNb-V-BwgRDMLAQ9E26q2ddn4BKId12hNuhvbERgeGK-Svi4YumgWgzHBZhbUXhMGlh_A.NmB3LNI_jgt24RGopIu04q0s8HVvzRDxAbAg8JrZKgs&dib_tag=se&keywords=Princess%2B14000%2BBTU&qid=1745866107&sprefix=princess%2B14000%2Bbtu%2Caps%2C68&sr=8-5&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.d7e5a2de-8759-4da3-993c-d11b6e3d217f&th=1), because I had a good experience with this brand. This one is £399 which makes more sense to me. Does anyone have any experience with either? I understand that air conditioner tech as a concept is pretty straightforward, so I can't see how there can be that much difference between brands. Would it be safe to get the Costway (It also has a heating function which I probably won't use but may come in handy as I live in the UK) I can't install proper air conditioning as I am renting, and this apartment gets WAY too hot in the summer. Thank you for your help.

r/DIYUKAnyone here using small AC machines to cool the air in a small room for heatwaves? Looking for recommendations, preferably Amazon i.e. can get it quickly. TIA

Totally agree. I got one from Argos last year when desperate to help our newborn with a heatwave, and it was brilliant. We’ve since moved and our new place is better at managing heatwaves so haven’t needed to get it out. This wasn’t a fancy unit, literally what was in stock at Argos and available at the time.
