Portable ACs are never totally perfect tbh, there’s always some mix of noise, power, or size that you end up having to deal with. You’ll wanna stick to 10k BTU or higher if you don’t want it struggling in a small room, especially if you’re heat-intolerant. The smaller ones just don’t keep up unless the space is very tiny. If heat makes you sick that easily, I’d try to block out as much sun as you can during the day (curtains, foil, whatever works) and set up a fan to help move the cold air around. For a unit, [this serenelife one](https://nelsonfoto.com/dp-B07RMZV7W487) is a good option, decent size, does cooling + dehumidifying + heat for later, and easier to move.

Some very good advice has been shared by u/loco2000; I'll just add that if you’re going the portable route, look for a model with a dual hose system. Believe me it’s worth the upgrade. Bit of physics: single hose units create negative pressure in the room which ends up pulling warm air back in from other parts of the apartment. That makes the unit work harder and cool less efficiently. Dual hose models avoid this problem and cool faster and more evenly. In terms of a specific unit, I’d recommend the serenelife portable AC. It covers up to 450 sq ft so it’ll easily handle your 300 sq ft bedroom. It’s got a built in dehumidifier and heating mode so it’ll be usable year round.
