Based on 1 year's data from Mar 18, 2026 How it works
I've had a Soleus for the past 15 years, they make 5 and 6K BTU
I've been running a Soleus portable for over 10 years in my living room. I needed something that held the hoses vertically in the sliding door. You could cut the panel down to fit your window and block any gaps with foam. https://imgur.com/a/eUDbIDB
Take a look at a small portable A/C, pay attention to how the hoses connect to the outside. We have a 12K BTU unit, but the living room we use it in is huge, you could get by with a much smaller unit. Our problem was that the room didn't have any windows, it just had 5 6' panes of glass. So the exhaust was an issue. We finally found one where the exhaust hoses fit into a strip that we fit into a sliding patio door opening. This could work for you if you could fit it into your window opening. You might have to cut the panel down. I duct tape the panel into the doorframe and we leave it there from May to October. Last year I added some foam to close off some air gaps. We've been using the same unit successfully for the past 15 yrs. Ours is a SoleusAir LX-14 14000 BTU unit. The smallest I see is a SoleusAir Psj-05-01a 5K BTU unit that might work well for you depending on the hose panel. They also have a 6K BTU unit.
