I’ve had a reconditioned free standing Toyotomi AC for over 10+ years with zero issues. We’ll be setting it up again this year to cool the house. They are bulletproof proof and work as good as they say. I don’t have much luck with electronics but this and my Japanese rice cooker will likely get passed on to my kids as far as I can tell.

If you want to buy a portable AC unit, buy a dual hose unit, single hose units suck. We bought a TOYOTOMI dual hose portable AC unit which is a Japanese brand 6 years ago and it’s still going strong and works really well. It was not cheap. Other than that. Get blackout blinds to keep the heat out.

You probably can't. We were told that Toyotomi discontinued their portable AC units and are focusing on heaters now (which dovetails with what others are saying in this thread). We are checking on it, just in case. We still have a couple TAD-T40LW's that are new in the box. https://toyotomiusa.com/product/tad-t40lw-r-portable-air-conditioner-and-heat-pump/, if you are interested in those. Heard back: Toyotomi is apparently still making some sort of portable AC units but they are outsourced now, not built in Japan, like the previous units were. Hope that helps.

They suuuuuuck, I'm constantly having to "live mix" whatever I am watching in the living room due to the sound because it has an eco mode so it will turn on/shut off when it hits a certain temperature threshold. Plus it won't get my living room below 75° I mean they work for what they are, but I purchased a portable Toyotomi dual hose system and that thing rocks. Way less noisy too
