Hi dude, adding some caveats first: \- I know dual hose A/C is the best, but like you, I can't afford one \- I'm a noob when it comes to air conditioners, recently bought myself one from Amazon - just looked for any with good reviews \- Take what I say as a pinch of salt, I'm just sharing my experience I'm also based in the UK, and I have the same type of window. What I did is go on Amazon and find any air-con over 5000BTU (I did a calculation and for my room it recommended 5000BTU, but I bought a 8000 one as everyone said get a more powerful one). This is the one I got, at the time I got it (2 weeks ago) it was 170 quid: [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CMX8Q2NL?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CMX8Q2NL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) For the window, I got some: \- Corrugated plastic board \- Stanley knife \- Sticky Velcro \- This vent: [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GWS5G1H?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title&th=1](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GWS5G1H?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) \- Some gorilla tape/ zip ties I basically cut the corrugated plastic to my window size, velcro the window and the board, then cut the hole for the vent, zip tied it in and put some tape there for good measure. I used a flexible hose rather than what came with the A/C (made a post about that). It allows me to stick it on when I need to use it, and remove when I don't. You can get one from here if you can't be bothered (same thing): [https://plasticsheetsshop.co.uk/product/acrylic-air-conditioner-window-seal-4-mm/](https://plasticsheetsshop.co.uk/product/acrylic-air-conditioner-window-seal-4-mm/) \- but I didn't want to wait. You can get these things, but I hear they are pretty finicky to install and I didn't like the look of them: [Window nappy thing.](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Universal-Conditioner-Exchange-Adhesive/dp/B087WT2XZF/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2TTDUGZ3TWI84&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fndPoN9vC_ldRAEc14ye2e2JPNWeYIfEA-y7RN47kYzikNb-9ilFOd3nKuUA0dpbLabGCWtQ0UWfJ_GNGXMf3eL45SXBXitMEiBt_a1UNI6j2JsNmua_GQx3wLjF54hDL-sVSsIjvdlBx1P-fjlJk7GbPXWzpr6YDfTD-Bo36X1TXMAjfQkWurlGlMX-SY-lAmrYuOewyNAXrhtAdjDBzRoUJC9AdqI428VUFcfuEUY.LGKu1RVg4RUl3tW-w3dRgTuJTEbUxCJvGLgJA1RPjP8&dib_tag=se&keywords=window%2Bac&qid=1750603115&s=diy&sprefix=window%2Bac%2Cdiy%2C82&sr=1-4&th=1) Does it work? Fuck yes, my room went from around 28/29C down to 23, sometimes, 22. I slept with a jumper on. The bad: its energy heavy, and loud. But for 170 quid and around 20 quid in parts, I'm really happy for now.
