This one is actually a real compressor and refrigerant AC. If you had the solar capacity to keep it going and a decent battery backup that would make things exponentially more comfortable in a mostly sealed area like inside a big van or well insulated tent as long as you can vent the hot air somewhere. I doubt they have an official policy as these are relatively expensive and uncommon but it’s worth emailing to ask. Companies that sell weed grow tent equipment often have interesting hvac options, something like this could definitely work too land looks small enough to stuff in a car footwell and would just look like a fan. https://www.vevor.com/portable-air-conditioners-c_13652/portable-air-conditioner-4250-btu-tent-air-conditioning-for-outdoor-camping-rvs-p_010160727318 If anyone reads this and is like fuck yeah I should get me some cold air the thing make sure you have substantial charging capability and a big ass 2+ kwh battery that can do sustained 1000w loads or better, it’ll be too much for anything less esp when other shit is plugged in. Set it higher than the temp you want in the space (direct air will be blowing out at 40f you don’t want 70f setting in the tent 2 ft away it’ll feel much cooler and save battery), keep the area relatively well sealed and you’ll be the envy of everyone around you lol

Diesel heaters, now effective/efficient 12v AC? Great job, China! I've got a Vevor S02 portable AC (110v) that I hacked up and installed inside my dinette bench seat with a dryer vent exhausting the hot air outside. It pulls 380 watts on low 460 watts on high. It's 4500 btu, but does well to cool 120sf box truck in 30 minutes.

r/vandwellers • Took a risk on a 12v AC from Amazon, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Weenie dog approved too. ->

I just picked up a Vevor 'tent' 4250BTU A/C unit that only uses 380W (AC 120V) here for $320 CAD after taxes: https://www.vevor.ca/portable-air-conditioners-c_13652/vevor-portable-air-conditioner-4250-btu-camping-air-conditioning-for-tent-rvs-p_010160727318?srsltid=AfmBOop2mywJwjlAOPIRNUdsif7finNFcxu0pJHhDpVeqG3drjb9ywGG This is the AC voltage model only; there is a different one that looks the same with DC 12/24V capability as well, though it pulls 450W/440W respectively and weighs about 5lbs more due to the onboard inverter. Works great and is small enough to install out of the way! All wattage draws are at max fan speed and coldest setting.

r/TruckCampers • Game changer tiny portable Ac units at home depot $289-320 (5000-6000btu) and small ->
