It's true, this was the Pinnacle of its generation, and still an excellent sounding speaker, I still use mine with my desktop.
All of the speakers people listed here are not even musical at all. Those are made for shitty autotune at best and have 0 mids. So scooped. Those sound like ass and can't even take a little rain. JBL is a no go and too bad they don't make aiwa exos 9's anymore. I'd look for some of those used. two of em is holy shit and amazing quality for actual music. They actually rock.
They are sealed passive radiator design. Pretty tough buggers. If they leak they will sound like shit and you will know. My aiwa exos 9 is still going strong too 10 years later. Probably will last the rest of my life because it's actual quality
Still got mine too. It does indeed sound really good but my w-king x20 dethroned it. Sounds better in every way and not as heavy and way better batt life, louder and more clear as well, but the aiwa will always be used somewhere as well. This thing is quiet as a mouse compared too. the w-king is probably more than twice as loud and has 4x more bass outdoors especially that this old ported guy.. Way more efficient. The w-king also has way better mids. like infinitely better. They look like subwoofers compared to the little neo magnet ones in this. Way undersized and that sub in this, is really only 50W RMS at the most. Actually is 25x2 coils I believe. I looked a long time ago inside mine just to see how it was set up. It's indeed a weird DVC sub. Mids are way undersized for it's output. That was my only gripe with this old beast. 10/10 sound quality otherwise.
Not to brag, but I own two of them with the remote. I love this speaker ❤️
I own a lot of speakers, and continually support my habit through the years. Living room has a pair of Party Box 310s, Hyperboom in the shed, Ult Field 7 in the garage, and it goes on. I have had my Exos 9 for several years, and it has yet to be dethroned. Some are louder, some are more fully featured, some had sound profiles I prefer, but at the end of the day this speaker still sounds better than all of them.
If you are willing to go used - THIS is the BEST bluetooth speaker ever manufactured. They make batteries for them in PA as well. Any time someone is over and they hear this speaker they walk away wanting one. Second place? Lodge Audio's excellent bluwetooth outdoor speakers that charge by sunlight. I have a pair of them and they rock an 80; x 30' patio. IT ABSOLUTELY IS. Having owned this and MANY OTHER BT (LOdge Audio, Bose, HK, Huwaei, JBL)speakers, this one beats them all. MTO Battery will recondition your battery for a hundred or les and give you twice the original capacity as well. Made mine sound like new!
Have the GP3 and had (past tense) the Exos-9. HK destroyed it. Also have two Brane Xs, which solo also are far better than either the Aiwa or HK. The GP3 really is terrific, though, for what I paid ($140).
I have a bunch of speakers that I've tried and own. Best for clarity/hifi kind of sound are the Cabasse Myuki wifi/Bluetooth portable speakers ($1,600 each). Best on stereo configuration (so $3,200). If that's too much of a budget, then the next Best for clarity IMO would be the Aiwa Exos 9 (older gen) which has a very good bass, but also dedicated mids and tweeters on each side. Don't go with the newer version. Another one best for bass, while very portable and decent stereo separation and mid/tweeter clarity is the Brane X, though not the most refined highs. Another one to try would be the Devialet Mania, though it would be more of a 360 sound rather than stereo

Mine stopped working, but it had a good run. Why don they make these anymore?!?
What’s a good replacement for this? Mine broke like 6 months ago and I’ve struggled to find anything comparable
