Based on 1 year's data from Feb 21, 2026 How it works
Search for " Bluetooth Speaker" or Subwoofer on amz or wherever. Or jst buy a regular BT boombox and leave it plugged in. I have two of the Anker Boom2 + and two Anker Rave 2 Neo. 4.7 Stars to the first pair and 3.8 to the second. Both sound great, waterproof, float, have impressive battery life, and have app controls for lights, EQ, bass +, etc. They will play in sync with each other, however, pairing can be tricky for the Party Cast mode. In that mode, according to Anker, you can link up to 100 speakers. I've done it with four and it works just fine although, again, pairing takes a minute. It's difficult enough that there are YouTube videos to help if you have trouble. The Boom2+ will pair in partycast mode with the Rave2, or they will also pair *in stereo* with each other. Extra star for that and the boom part. To be clear, all of he anker speakers you can buy are stereo, but the ones with the TWS feature will pair and act as left and right channels. This makes them more useful in enclosed spaces, IMO. The PartyCast mode speakers will play in sync, but will not be separate channels. More useful for outdoor spaces where people may be moving around more and where L and R channels are important, IMO.
I have a pair of Soundcore 2 speakers and I can safely say that they do not have big subwoofers or intense bass. It sounds like you want a speaker with no bass. I can't imagine enjoying listening to speaker with less bass than a Soundcore 2. I want thick bass, great mids, and clear highs. I also have an Oontz Angle 3 and it has virtually zero bass, I mean it gives the illusion of bass but it really doesn't have bass. I like the bass on my pair of Uboom L's in tws mode and my Soundcore Boom 2 (which delivers more bass than it should, which I love).
How does it compare to the Soundcore Boom 2 by Anker? I just bought one and it cuts out, sounds ok though I miss my Big Jambox (speakers recently blew)
+1 for the Boom 2. I love mine. The bass is nice and defined, and easily 8-10 hrs runtime at mid volume
Amazon has a "renewed" Boom 2 for $85. I got one a few months ago; it's indistinguishable from brand new. Comes in a factory sealed original box w/ full manufacturer warranty. Absolute steal at that price
You have to be lucky to catch it on sale though. Amazon seemingly has an endless supply available whenever. And, you would not even suspect that the renewed one is anything but brand new. From the packaging to the device itself, it's flawless. It's not like buying a used item on FB Marketplace
It's well worth it IMO. I travel a lot for work and use it 50/50 for music and movie watching along with my Galaxy Tab. The little subwoofer does a great job on the low frequency effects in movies. It's surprising how much deep bass can come out of such a little box
This is something I have looked into and the options are not great if you need something that can get loud For portability I think Bluetooth speakers make the most sense. That said you don't get much for $80. Anker makes some solid options that perform well on a budget. I own an Anker Soundcore Motion+, speaker which costs $80. For a small portable speaker it sounds great for background music. The downside is it's pretty small so is limited on how loud it gets. It works well for a BBQ or hanging out with friends but it's not exactly the best option if you want to crank it I also own a Tribit StormBox Blast. Which is a good amount more powerful and can get quite a bit louder than the Motion+. It also costs a lot more $200 (though I got it for $160 on sale) That said, I think at lower volumes the Motion+ sounds much better to me and is much cheaper and I use it way more than the Tribit. It's fine for hanging out and turning the music up but it's not audiophile and it wouldn't be my choice for a backyard rave. Somewhere between the two is the Anker Soundcore Boom 2. It's not rated as high as the StormBox but for much less ($120) you'll get something that's almost as loud. Other options are just getting a cheap class D amp and used bookshelf speakers. You'll get much better sound quality and loudness but you'll need to increase your budget a bit and it's not the most portable option. If you want something that has the power for a party here is a list of good party speakers but as you'll see these are way above your budget. https://www.rtings.com/speaker/reviews/best/parties
Brane X if you love bass. Retails $500, but you can find for $100 off when on sale. I got one but I am waiting until Xmas to open. If your want cheaper, I love my Soundcore Boom 2 for $100
Oh, it was just a note, no big deal. Try looking at soundcore boom 2, soundcore boom 3i
This is sage advice: two speakers for different use cases. I tried to settle on one speaker that would be practical for their grandkid's purposes, that is, parties *and* hiking, camping and water sports, and couldn't. A boombox for when volume and better fidelity is required; a smaller speaker for outdoor on-the-go activities. OP, as well as Earfun and Tribit, Anker (Soundcore) has enough of a lineup to satisfy different criteria. For instance, [Soundcore Boom or Soundcore Boom 2 ](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=anker+soundcore+boom&i=electronics&crid=9EFL7JVSRBJK&sprefix=anker+soundcore+boom%2Celectronics%2C123&ref=nb_sb_noss_1)are smaller boomboxes; the Soundcore Boom 3i is a tough, outdoor, portable speaker.

Anker Boom 2 is on sale for $90. If you buy refurbished - excellent you can get two for $150 and pair them up.
Thank you for the recs! I researched both for a bit and it seems the Boom 2 is alot like a cheaper Bose Soundlink Max. I like that its still pretty light!
You seem to know quite a bit about speakers. Do you know if the JBL Charge 4 would be louder than the Bose Flex 2? I like that its only marginally bigger as I dont want to lug around a giant speaker (Boombox 3, etc).
I love the Bose Max, but man that price is insane. A fellow redditor turned me onto the Anker Soundcore Boom 2. Its relatively similar sized, similar sound but 1/4 the price at $99 vs $399. Its also 1lb lighter, so more portable. Its uglier than the Bose, but manages to look halfway decent in their green color.
