It took ages waiting for a good deal on one but the Beoplay A2s have no business sounding so nice for their size. Our kid has been rough with ours too and it lives on. I couldn't love it more.

**Dali Katch Gen. 2** is THE best bang for your buck sonically. I have had a few, and I love mine in Ice Blue. **B&O A2 Gen. 1 or 2**. They are small, very portable, and have terrific (expansive) sound for such a small profile. You can typically pick up used ones on eBarf for around $100. **B&O A5** is insanely great, a bit heavy, and all the money. But worth it. **Denon** also makes some interesting "Home" series speakers, but I haven't heard any in person. That may change soon, since I'm on the fence about the Home 250 speaker. **Brane Audio Brane X** is next on my list, but I'm waiting for a sale where it's "only" $400. Also, the poster that mentioned Oluv's wife doing the B&O comparison with a Uboom X? Yeah, quit staring at her "speakers." The sound comparison she makes is...non-scientific and just silly. I'd also add Sonos Move 2 to the list, and have one on order. 24-hour battery life (at a lower volume) is pretty damned good, and these units have terrific sound, clarity, and plenty (maybe too much) of bass, which can be adjusted in the Sonos app. I use my other Sonos speakers through Apple TV and AirPlay, and have had very few issues with that setup.

I have to say that, for as much as I love the Bose speakers I own, battery drain is far more noticeable than with other brands I own. My Bang & Olufsen speakers have the absolute least battery drain while idle; JBL is great for power retention, too.

You could use the rca outs to a headphone jack and use wired headphones. No pairing required. The soundburger works great and sounds great overall. It seems to pair ok if you hold the bluetooth speaker super close…I haven’t tried AirPods though. I don’t DJ anymore so I’m not out actively mining for gold, but a soundburger would have been handy for that. I used to see some people 30 years ago with junky suitcase players or fisher price set ups to listen on the fly.
