Well I got the BeoPlay A1 at home and it’s awesome 😄
What about Bang & Olufsen?
I’d say the Beoplay A1 1st Gen beats the 2nd gen
You call yourself an audiophile yet are convinced this is by far the best sounding BT speaker? I’m confident in saying this is probably one of the very few you’ve heard. The crackling noise could be due to the battery being degraded and not being able to supply enough voltage/current. Something small that will cover the whole frequency range is the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A1 (1st Gen). Anything else the same size will not go as low as the A1 does. Footsteps and such are usually low pitched sounds so that could work.
The Beoplay A2 is a great option. I say this with confidence, it's without doubt the best you can get for that flatness. You could otherwise get the Beoplay A1 which is smaller and just as flat, and sounds great too.
The beoplay a1, in one of the earlier versions with a minijack connection or a new one with a Usb-c to minijack adapter.
It’s old tech now but still holds up: - LG PF50KS (or KA/KG) mini projector - Two Beoplay A1 (1st Gen with 3.5mm input) - Modified Y 3.5mm splitter into L&R channels for the A1 speakers in stereo to avoid Bluetooth latency. - Apple TV or Roku stick, something like that. All can be powered with USB-C. (except Apple TV) And then hope you have a good white wall to project on to.
They’re very different speakers with very different specs. The B&O A1 is more of a small portable travel mono speaker that performs similarly to something like a Bose Soundlink Flex. It sounds good but it’s still a small speaker so it lacks bass and sonic depth. Not to mention it’s $400 and you’re paying a lot for the brand rather than the sound. The Harman Kardon Go+Play 3 is a boombox sized stereo speaker with an actual subwoofer and delivers the second best bass response (after the Brane X) in this class, so the sound quality has more depth and body, and makes the speaker sound bigger than it actually is. It retails at $385 but does go on sale occasionally for under $200. Most folks in this sub will tell you that at under $200, it’s a no brainer and in fact, they’ll encourage you to buy 2 so that you can set them up as a TWS pair, which sounds even more awesome 😊
If you wanna hear bass drops with mid and upper elements too from like space laces, hol, ydg the heavy sub 30hz drops: Harmon kardon onyx series for low priced. But if theres no constraints, the devialet mania will have the best bass you are looking for and clarity. B and O A1 is pretty good too but you’ll prolly wanna run a pair. All the jbls megaboom, the regular mainstream brands all run rly muddy bass that bleeds into the mids. Like at lost lands the soundcamp speakers, kinda mid for the vocals and trebles but u feel the wubs
I totally get that…what’s your go-to travel speaker? I usually take either my B&O A1s (paired/single), or my Dali Katch. They also double as my White Noise (well, Brown, actually) generator for sleeping.
I really don't like the beolit 20. I like the sound of my Vifa Helsinki much more even though it's an older speaker and a lot cheaper now. Check some B&O a1 series, each one has a different sound type, for small portable bt speakers For medium size, Devialet Mania,a reboxed unit was around 500€ in my country just recently. 500 or under it's a good price, not the 800-900€ or how much they ask for it on most sites. For bigger sizes, i dont think you have many options,in a reasonable amount of money. The b&o a5 but it can get quite expensive sometimes. *I wouldn't call these audiophile speakers, high quality Bluetooth speakers would be a more suited name.
Check my post here about the b&o A1 line ,if you want something small but powerful. If this is not enough, the charge 5 is very cheap, ult field 5 is 120€ for a refurb in my country, marshal middleton 2 is also quite good, but around 170-200€ you can check my review about it.
