If battery life is your main concern, the Beats Pill (2024) is the better option. It offers up to 24 hours of battery life compared to the JBL Flip 6’s 12 hours. Plus, it has USB-C charging and can even be used as a power bank to charge your devices.

I’d recommend the Beats Pill. But if you need something more rugged and don’t mind recharging, the Flip 6 is still a great pick!

Hi, I have an Emberton 2 and it’s awesome although EQing on the streaming device makes it much better..people say the 2 is better than the 3 And many gonna hate me on this but the Beats Pill is a terrific speaker for all Jazz and chill music, although for other complex tracks genres I find it a must to pair two in stereo

I love how people shit on the pill here and most haven’t even listened to the updated version. OP if you want this for inside listening, I’ve had mine well over 6 months now and have zero complaints. Battery lasts forever, it sounds great for what it is. I have an xtreme3 and party box encore and use my pill more than both of those. This is a good deal if legit.

I went down that rabbit hole a few years back and the best I could come up with was the Sonos Move. Called an audio installation guy I play ball with sometimes and he said, “outdoor audio is meant to be good and durable. If it’s an absolute necessity for you to have audio outside, I can sell you a package we can design.” Price was waaaaay higher than a Move. So I use a Beats Pill. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Everyone will have their favorite. I know the first time hearing the Beats Pill, and the Bose SoundLink Mini, they were mind blowing to me. My go to "brick" speaker is the Soundcore Boost (2021 upgraded version). I like its confident bass output and the warm midrange and treble balance.

Aw man…I loved my Riva Turbo X! I’m sure others will have good recommendations. I’m mostly WiFi on my boat, but think if you spring for $100 more (or find used), the Bose SoundLink Max fits your bill, mostly. I decided that paired Flex 2s and Beats Pills made more sense for me as travel speakers.

I have and love the Soundlink Flex 2 (a pair), and they fill my needs with sonic clarity, decent bass extension, and portability. I always travel with a single Flex, which doubles as my on-the-road music source, and white noise generator at night. I also have a pair of Beats Pills, and really like their sound signature. You can buy a pair for the $200 you set as a budget limit. I had the Soundcore X600 but just sold it. I liked it...but didn't love it for how I use my smaller (and it's not small) BT speakers. But, for the money, its sound output is quite decent. If you get one for under $100, it's a good deal.

I have a pair, and like them a lot. I saw the Gray Kardashian model on Woot for $50, though…and I’d buy two of those in a heartbeat. They’re good…don’t let the naysayers get to you.

Why not get a good, affordable sound bar? I use a Sonos Ray with my 24-inch FireTV aboard my sailboat (Ericson 30+) and it works wonderfully, while also offering a WiFi connection if I just want to stream music (which I do). Factory Refurbs are under $200, and they sound way better than smaller, cheaper BT speakers. I have a pair of Beats Pills, and I'd love to have an EQ/app for them. But, paired up, they work for me and sound really good. My travel speaker is a Bose Flex 2 (with EQ), and it's unbeatable for roadtrips.

If you're open to used speakers (I always am), then consider the Bose Flex 2 (I've seen them used for around 60 Quid), Beats Pill (2024), any assortment of JBL speakers, and the usual suspects from Tribit, uBoom, and Soundcore. Personally, I'd go with a Flex 2 or Beats Pill. I use my Pills paired with my MacBook Pro for Zoom/Teams calls, and they work great. But one will do just fine.

What about an Amazon Echo Dot or Apple HomePod mini? Can play music and ambient sounds and no charging because it’s always plugged in. If you must have a Bluetooth speaker, the Beats Pill is very easy to use if you have an iPhone, sounds good in a small space and has a great battery life.

Soundcore Motion 300 was just $55 the other day. Go ahead and buy your junky Beats. I also used to fall for their marketing and owned enough of their products to learn my lesson to never buy that bullshit ever again

Harman Kardon Luna, Apple Beats Pill 2024, Bose Flex 2 Gen ? By pair to have stereo (Yes, more money 😬), I ranked them by preference. I use daily (at low volume with a nice 'kick' if you know what I mean) 2 Pill + 2 Luna, paired all together 😍 The Pill can go lower (56 Hz) while the Luna only 60 Hz and it show in rendition but the Luna's are wider in soundstage. The bass are worse on Bose Flex 2 Gen since it can't go lower than \~64Hz while only going up to 18kHz, the other 2 are up until 20 kHz. If affect the rendition and when compared ear by ear, it's 'hearable' ? Yet if you don't compare them, they all sound more than okay. I couldn't just do it with a mono sound, 2 paired placed strategically render way much than just one speaker, even bigger. And while some HK Go+Play 3 seems nice, it only offer SBC for example, in 2025 HK should offer AAC or even LDAC. At low volume it wouldn't be so pleasant I think, I only have a Onyx Studio in this 'range' to compare. What is the budget / are from if I can ask? Perhaps the genre listened too, or if it varies much like me 😬

The Luna can be found on Amazon for about €112 ATM, that's a fair price considering the 179 originally asked. There is some con though, only down to 60 Hz as mentionned and also only SBC, no app support meaning no EQ except if you use one before sending the sound. No jack either nor USB C Audio, which the Beats Pill provide and is a nice feature to have. The HK Luna in the US offer the USB Audio btw, same on others models, JBL said it was due to some licences. Great in Europe to have same price and limited features 😭 I found the Pill for €100 when in sales a few weeks back, but that's an indoor speaker given the grille, one drop and it's dented haha. Don't get me wrong, they both sound great; but I prefer them in pair since most speaker are mono and not stereo from the start, the sound will sound 'tiny'. As for the [Earfun](https://www.myearfun.com/speakers/earfun-uboom-l-portable-waterproof-bluetooth-speakers-black) mentionned by someone esle, I was hesitant too because of the low price on the site, way cheaper than Amazon and for 2 it'll be only €80. Since the return isn't free like on Amazon and since I couldn't find the range, asked Perplexity and found [Rtings](https://www.rtings.com/speaker/reviews/earfun/uboom-l) which resume by : >The EarFun UBOOM® L Bluetooth speaker has a tested frequency response range of approximately 74.4Hz (low-frequency extension) to 16.3kHz (high-frequency extension). This means it starts to roll off below 74Hz in the bass and doesn't reproduce the deepest sub-bass, while the treble extends up to about 16.3kHz.  So, in rendition, the low bass from EDM and some techno or dub step will sound dull on it. And given they can't seem to go higher than 16.3kHz, it'll lack a bit in that area. Hence why I didn't purchased, there is some video on youtube comparing one vs a Denon Envaya which was way better in rendition, it can be heard :) In that price range, you might consider Xiaomi ASM02 (€60 on Amazon, 360° 40W and app support) but a little bit too much emphasized on the high/treble, there is also the Xiaomi Sound Outdoor (nop app support/EQ) which is about €40 each, mono sound of 30W but less treble, more boomy, kinda a JBL Flip 6 and sometimes better imho (I have 2 along with one 40W 🤭) I don't plan to spend more than €100 on a bluetooth speaker that are SBC only and/or without any battery swappable capability. When the battery is dead, so is the speaker, kinda if it's not easily remplacable :)

I think the Beat haters are thinking about the old speaker that kind of sucked. Even Alan Ross sort of liked the new one. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gKBTPVJUmw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gKBTPVJUmw) It is about 1/2 the weight of my soundcore motion plus and looks like smaller version of it. @ $50 it is a great option if you want a JBL flip sized speaker. Earfun Uboom L is main the competition in this $ range imo.

I have the newest version, I don't care for it. The Tribit comparable model (can't keep track of their names) is much better.

While it’s true that beats doesn’t have an app, they’re like the only speaker that works with iPhone’s built in equalizer so it’s the same if not better than having an app.
