I have all three of those models and you’re right. A slight drawback with the Revolve 2 is that it sounds somewhat “tinny” to my ears anyway, at mid to high volume.
I bought one refurbished from Bose for $92. Sounds really good and the EQ, though limited to 3 bands, is a nice addition. The Mini II, which I also have, sounds really good too.
Bose Sound link Mini 2 SE (usbc charging) - great small all purpose travel speaker for personal listening off grid. Sony SRS-XB1 (bought two, on sale both times) - great bass and fun BT/Google speaker for an outdoor pool party. I’ve also picked up two used Bose Soundtouch 20 II for around my home - they are BT/Wifi and sound fantastic (anywhere there is mains power). Interestingly none of my go-to BT speakers have great stereo imaging, but they all have great sound. Also had a pair of JBLs (BT/Airplay stereo pair) that get fired up sometimes and I have tried the MegaBoom3, but the Bose and Sony BT speakers are hard to beat and just keep performing. I sound check more modern BT speakers whenever I can, but newer speakers that sometimes impress me are crazy expensive.
Tbh, Bose SoundLink Mini, Bose SoundLink Colour, Bose SoundLink Revolve and Bose SoundLink Flex all are the same. Just sounds slightly different.
Bro, I bought a pair of flex first. Loved Bose so much that got a Revolve 2 for my parents. Then got the Mini 2 SE for my cousins. Then also got the Colour 2. And I’ve tried all of them, loved their build quality and sound signature. Best in their class compared to any other brand. But amongst all these 4 generations of Bose speakers, they are the same. Though I love their evolving design language despite having using almost same audio components with slight changes to their arrangement. But all of them are the same. You may be feeling biased due to finally getting that nostalgia feeling from that specific speaker model.
When aesthetics meet longevity.. When design and sound goes hand in hand.. When simplicity is 100% purposeful. Thats this speaker.. Sounds so nice for what it is than the current generation of so called advanced Bluetooth speakers. If you are afraid that you will loose this Gem, take the soundlink mini version 2 SE, which has almost double the battery life with slightly better sound quality. i have tested Soundlink Mini 2 SE and also the latest Bose soundlink Flex.. Mini can be used as a computer speaker and sound profile (staging, vocals, treble / bass) is same. Only thing that bose couldnt do in this small speaker is the volume level. Flex gets too loud, Flex 70% volume = 100% sound link mini volume.. And of course, Flex has some volume adjustments based on the speaker position .. And it is water proof and can be carried anywhere.
Were they used or new? I have seen some new ones from China at around $150 or so. Since Bose stopped making them, I wasn’t sure about them. Looking to get the Soundlink mini special edition again at some point since the ex took mine. I loved that thing.
Ground breaking for bass and size at time of release and still has a certain magic about it.
I have a similar SoundLink Mini (yours is a Micro), also a gift from an employer, from 2015. Sounds great and I haven't noticed any decrease in battery life over the years. Unfortunately mine is a Mini **II**. The first-gen Mini the battery came out with four screws for extremely easy replacement; Bose even has instructions on the website. The Mini II came out in 2015 and looks and functions exactly the same way, but they entirely changed the guts, so [replacing the battery now requires nearly completely disassembling the unit to desolder a ribbon cable from the motherboard, and then reflashing the device's firmware from a computer with Bose proprietary software,](https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Bose+SoundLink+Mini+II+Battery++Replacement/84991) with not great odds of success for a DIYer. So if I ever have to replace the battery I'm probably screwed. Hopefully it'll be able to run directly from USB power after the battery goes. I have no idea if all the newer Bose speakers have had the same anti-repair design changes, but something to pay attention to when shopping for one.
Loved this one too, but after not using it for a while it didn’t turn on anymore :( Heard it happen to other people too.
