Well that’s actually my point. Both of the speakers sound great. I know the Sony ult field 5 doesn’t sound better because I tested and returned it. And I also bought the Harmon kardon studio onyx 9 which sounds very impressive especially at 50% off. I’ll be returning it too though because I don’t wanna get up and turn it on, and worry about holding the connection otherwise it will auto shut off after 10 minutes. It sucks because it’s a really great deal and elegant speaker. But when you’re not afraid to buy and test multiple things you never really know what’s best and you settle. For me, the ability to grab my phone and turn my speaker on and off remotely, I discovered through experience, ended up trumping my search for the best sounding speaker. And this was a tough decision because the Onyx 9 has killer bass. And the Harmon kardon go play 3 is supposed to sound even better - it has dedicated woofer, high and mid speakers. Does Jbl sound better than UE? Maybe, maybe not. It doesn’t matter to me anymore though. I can easily get a boombox 3 or 4, but it won’t get used as much as I will use the UE speakers since UE speakers don’t require any effort to power on/off. Jbl is way behind other brands in the deportment of remote power. To me, Bluetooth standby is everything and UE does it the best, by far. I also have a Bose Soundlink Revolve + II, it sounds pretty good and can be turned on remotely, but only powers off after a set idling time. All I know is, when I’m laying down and feeling lazy, and I feel like rocking out to some music, I’m not getting up and walking across the room to turn a speaker on. And then getting up again to turn it off. UE speakers are often slept on because they lag behind other brands when it comes to updating their speakers. But they do sound really good and to me more than good enough considering they have remote power. I’d highly recommend the Epicboom. They do advertise it as a 360 degree speaker, but it’s not as true as it is with my Bose Soundlink revolve + II. Still, for a smaller speaker, it has very decent bass and also sounds clear. Definitely sounds better than my Bose. I use it as a smaller sibling and companion to the Hyperboom. In the morning just grab my phone and turn it on all while still laying in bed and the speaker is on the other side of the room.
I have the Flex; I think it's okay. It's very awkward having it "stand" (most likely to fall back anyway). I also have the Revolve II, Soundlink II, and etc. I think the Revolve II is more nifty and useful (that "surround" amplification, and it can actually stay standing, haha), plus it has an aux in.

I have all three of those models and you’re right. A slight drawback with the Revolve 2 is that it sounds somewhat “tinny” to my ears anyway, at mid to high volume.
Tbh, Bose SoundLink Mini, Bose SoundLink Colour, Bose SoundLink Revolve and Bose SoundLink Flex all are the same. Just sounds slightly different.
Bro, I bought a pair of flex first. Loved Bose so much that got a Revolve 2 for my parents. Then got the Mini 2 SE for my cousins. Then also got the Colour 2. And I’ve tried all of them, loved their build quality and sound signature. Best in their class compared to any other brand. But amongst all these 4 generations of Bose speakers, they are the same. Though I love their evolving design language despite having using almost same audio components with slight changes to their arrangement. But all of them are the same. You may be feeling biased due to finally getting that nostalgia feeling from that specific speaker model.
Any Bose. I have a soundlink flex, a revolve 2, and a micro. All are great. This weekend I used the revolve outside while doing yard work and it sounded great.
Of the ones you’re looking at I’ve only heard the Go Play 3. It’s true that it has to be plugged in to get full power but it only affects the bass output at higher volumes and most people probably won’t even notice it. Even then the difference is small but I can notice it because I’m boosting the bass quite a bit. Some don’t notice it at all As far as leaving it plugged in. I actually have two GP3’s at my house and one at my gf’s. All three are plugged in all of the time. Every few months I’ll unplug mine and run the battery down. I’ve had them for over two years and so far no issues whatsoever with the batteries. My gf hasn’t unplugged her’s in probably 18 months and no issues. Obviously I can’t say for sure if this will shorten the battery life Sound quality wise it’s the best sound quality I’ve heard from a boombox style BT speaker hands down. I’ve compared it to 6 or 7 other speakers. It’s a warm sound signature but exceptionally well balanced through the entire frequency range Keep in mind that the GP3 seems more sensitive to room placement than other similarly sized BT speakers
EarFun UBOOMX, Klipsch Nashville, Bose Soundlink Revolve 2, Bose Soundlink Flex 2, HK Onyx 9, Soundcore Motion Boom Plus, Onn Large Party Speaker, JBL Charge 5 or 6 (don’t remember off the top of my head) In fairness the Onyx 9 had an issue and I couldn’t turn it up very loud. The Onn was outside. All the other speakers were in the same room. The GP3 and UBOOMX had eq optimized to my taste
IMO none of them sound as good as the GP3. The UBOOM X would take 2nd place for me. But they are not making them anymore The Onn gets loud and has decent thump but the sound quality is not good The Klipsch has good clarity, detail and separation but it comes at the expense of sounding very bright and very little bass The Bose Flex 2 has decent mids and a pleasant, easy on the ears overall sound but lacks bass and just sounds a bit boring to me The JBL is an interesting one. Some songs sounded good, some sounded bad. My brother thought the same. Maybe it was the room acoustics The HK is just on a different level. Responds extremely well to third party eq and is capable of putting out a surprising amount of bass. It’s just so balanced through the mids and highs. Can listen at high volumes for hours without listener fatigue
