"I think the uboom x is damn near unbeatable in terms of bass"
"I have a pair of Uboom L's and in tws stereo mode they are pretty amazing beasts. ... One by itself sounds really good, but two in stereo really kicks it up a few nitches, much louder and much more bass. ... The app lets you dial in the EQ which really helps bring them to life. ... It took me a few listens and experimenting to get the EQ to my tastes but now they sound amazing. ... Plenty of bass and great mods and highs. ... Pure clean sound, no hiss or buzz, and mine don't distort at high volumes."
"If you want good enough bass with pretty much “hifi” sound indoors. Can’t recommend uboom enough."

"But with Oluv's tuning, it was a bargain if you need a wall of detailed sound that goes LOUD."
"Sure enough, with the app and Oluv’s EQ setting, this thing sounds great! ... Sounds way more natural and lively than any dull and dark Bose."

"it is well worth the money I paid for ($103). But even on prime you can snag it for around $120 which is still a good deal."
"I have a uboom x and I can tell you that it really gives the A5 a run for it's money. ... roughly I'd say the uboomx performs on 75-80% sound quality wise compared to the A5. ... In summary the uboomx offers about 10x more value than the A5"

"one sounds great but two in TWS sounds absolutely amazing!"
"In after pairing mode they kick ass."
"Two Uboom L's (TWS). I'm loving mine. ... Took a little effort to dial the EQ to my liking, but they sound great in stereo and have plenty of volume and solid bass. ... I run mine about 4 feet apart, and the stereo spread is very nice."

"I haven't tried a Uboom L, but honestly your site made me NOT want to try one. Two reasons: the pros seem unrealistically high praise: 'the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker', and the cons make it seem like a totally half baked piece of shit as I would have to find a windows computer to flash the firmware to make it not suck? Also so much mention of downgrading firmware? What kind of weird hobbyist garbage is this? ... If it is true that somehow this shoddy firmware buggy little $50 speaker blows away the 10x more expensive competition, that's truly amazing, but you gotta understand what it looks like to an outsider. ... At this point there is no firmware flashing needed, pretty much all units ship with the correct firmware now. ... Downgrading firmware was only a thing before firmware 1.2.6, now you can use the app to enable Oluv's EQ on a factory speaker. I do not recommend anyone downgrade at this point. All that information is current in the rankings that I cannot link to in this sub. ... I can tell you that Earfun is not good at getting these things in a good state from the factory, they fumbled the Uboom X in the same way. ... The only reason it is any good is Oluv's DSP tuning that he did with the speaker. Without that, it's just another one in the pile. ... True, manufacturers need to focus on ease of use and working perfectly out of the box without any adjustment. I completely agree."
"No firmware update possible from the app? Also the firmware fiasco when this speaker was released is kinda weird too"

"The stiffness of the flap and directionality are in my opinion two downsides to the UBoom. ... At the construction site, we move around the speaker a lot, so having an omnidirectional sound would be amazing."
"Sound is very directional, it kinda gets muffled at angles."
How long ago was that published? His coupon code for the UBoom L doesn't work for me. I have the UBiom L and would love a second one.
Earfun Uboom L does. And it's a badass little speaker. And two of them in stereo is pretty impressive. Plenty of volume, great highs and mids and more than enough bass to get the job done well. They aren't bass monsters but they don't lack it either. I have a few sets of speakers and they are well loved, especially for he price. My Soundcore Boom 2 isy favorite right now, but only because of it's loud clear bass. Uboom L are very good speakers. They are super clear at low to medium volume, but they still hold it together at max volume. They don't distort and still sound good.
A pair of Uboom L's. Audiophile sound quality on a budget. Greet clarity and clean sound. Good bass, great mids and highs.
I have a pair of Uboom L's and in tws stereo mode they are pretty amazing beasts. One by itself sounds really good, but two in stereo really kicks it up a few nitches, much louder and much more bass. Plus the L is a stereo speaker.
They are great little speakers. The app lets you dial in the EQ which really helps bring them to life. It took me a few listens and experimenting to get the EQ to my tastes but now they sound amazing. Plenty of bass and great mods and highs. Pure clean sound, no hiss or buzz, and mine don't distort at high volumes.
Two Earfun Uboom L's in stereo tws. Simple great sound
A pair of Uboom L's. Or get a pair of Presonus E3.5's, amazing little speakers for $100/pair.
I have a pair of Uboom L's and in stereo mode they kick a lot of ass for the $100 or so that I paid. The eq in the app is great.
I have a pair of Uboom L's that I run in stereo TWS, they are really good. Not bass monsters but they get the job done well and have a really clear sound.
Soundcore 2? I have two of them and they don't thump and aren't loud. They are great speakers but aren't beasts. My pair of Uboom L's are great and loud though..
You can get two Uboom L's for $100. In after pairing mode they kick ass. Good bass and loud. Love mine..
100% don't agree. They are far from trash. Have you heard a pair of them in person?
This. I have a pair of L's that I run about 4 feet apart. Sounds amazing.
I have to say, my pair of Uboom L's is absolutely awesome. I have the app dialed and the EQ on my R1 so that I have zero distortion and the bass is clean and sounds great. Totally satisfied with my little rig.
Two Uboom L's (TWS). I'm loving mine. Took a little effort to dial the EQ to my liking, but they sound great in stereo and have plenty of volume and solid bass. Can't complain for the $120 I paid. I run mine about 4 feet apart, and the stereo spread is very nice.
One sounds damn good, I bought mine and enjoyed it but after about a week I wanted more volume and bass. But I'm using mine in the back of a warehouse and wanted enough volume to overpower noise. In a quiet setting one would be fine. But two in stereo is pretty amazing. There is a coupon code where you can get them for $49 each. Just search for Uboom L oluv code i believe.
The treble and mids are clean and crisp. This speaker doesn't rely on bass at all, some people think it doesn't have enough bass because it isn't a sub bass thrower. The bass is clear and natural. The UBoom L is more like a studio monitor, audiophiles love it because it's neutral and doesn't hype up certain frequencies. Honestly it's just a really great little speaker and the price makes it even better. A lot of bluetooth speakers have exaggerated bass, which is what some people want, this doesn't have that, but it does have bass that serves the music and sounds good and punchy.
This is the discount code for Amazon. OLUVUBOOML
Uboom L ($50) and a Hiby R1 ($85) with a 256gb SD card ($20). He'll be set for life and it will sound great and he portable. Loving mine. Zero complaints.
Uboom L ($50) or a pair of them if you want glorious stereo greatness. Soundcore 2 ($29) or Select 4 Go ($22) if you want to spend much. I have pairs of all three and love them all for different things.
Two Uboom L's in tws stereo. $100 for two, on Amazon with the oluv discount code
Uboom L sounds great at extremely low volume.
Uboom L in Oluv's indoor mode, upper treble is slightly boosted (which kinda gives an illusion of more details but in a nice way), response overall is natural, VERY smooth and extends nicely to 20khz. Nothing in this size will beat it on axis for a long time, it also has that nice loudness compensation for lower volumes and doesn't distort at all
Uboom X + Uboom L from Earfun, both in one of Oluv's dsp settings in the app
Earfun Uboom L in indoor mode, nothing in that size is more accurate and it sounds great at lower volumes because of dynamic bass and treble boost
Uboom X in Oluv's indoor would be absolutely the best choice, maby you can still find some Vifa speakers? Also, Ldac/Aptx advantage is negligible, you'll get more improvement by lowering some peak in the frequency response via eq
I bought the Soundcore Motion 300 and the Earfun UBOOM L a few days ago, and I tested them for a few hours with the intent to return one of the speakers. To start off with, they both sound great, way better than I expected for the price. My references are Edifier bookshelf speakers (R1855DB and S730D) and a JBL Xtreme. I've had some smaller Bluetooth speakers in the early portable speaker days, but those sound a lot worse. ## Earfun UBOOM L Good things: - It has the potential to sound very good, but it does require fiddling with the EQ. - Gets very loud, but starts to sound thin at high volume. - Clarity is pretty good for a speaker without a tweeter. Mids are the best part of this speaker. - Auxiliary port (I won't really use this tbh) - Built quality is good, but design is kinda generic - Price, it's very cheap at 48 euro's in the Netherlands Bad things: - I have to be honest, it sounds kinda bad out of the box. You HAVE to do things with the EQ to make it sound good, and I don't think Oluv's EQ sounds great, it lacks bass and the volume curve is weird. - The bass is pretty absent at high volume. It doesn't sound great above 80%. - Sound is very directional, it kinda gets muffled at angles. - Battery life is not great (based on RTINGS test) - The startup chimes and stuff sounds very cheap, my very cheap AliExpress amplifier board makes the same sounds - The buttons are black on a black surface, so you have to really look to make sure you press the right button - No firmware update possible from the app? Also the firmware fiasco when this speaker was released is kinda weird too - Charge flap is impossible to open without tools lol - The speaker doesn't seem very refined as a whole product ## Soundcore Motion 300 Good things: - Sounds great out of the box, no adjusting of the EQ needed - Still sounds great it high volume, bass is still present - Gets very loud, about the same volume as the UBOOM L - Possibility to lay flat. It automatically adjusts the EQ. This makes it a much better 360 speaker than the UBOOM - Very well built with the metal grill, strap and just overall quality. Design is nice too. - I instantly got a connection notification on my Android phone the first time I turned it on, like Airpods do on Iphones. It also automatically named the speaker after me. And it prompted me to download the (pretty good) app. - Good buttons, they have (adjustable) backlighting and the power button is recessed, so it's harder to press when it's inside a bag. - Great battery life, almost double the UBOOM battery life (according to RTINGS) - Easier to pack into a bag because it's flat. - Great price for the features and sound quality. - Firmware updates through the app Bad things: - Clarity and mids are a bit better on the UBOOM. - There's an audio delay when watching video's, but i don't think it's worse than the UBOOM with video mode turned on. ## Summary The sound quality of these speakers isn't really far apart. They get just as loud, but the Motion 300 seems to handle bass better, especially at high volumes, while the UBOOM L has better clarity and mids. Both speakers sound great tho. But the overall quality of the product is much much higher with the Motion 300. It actually feels like a premium product with the build quality and features. While the Motion 300 is a bit pricier at €60, I think it's easily worth the price because it's so much better as a product. Some people here seem to forget a Bluetooth speaker is more than just sound. I can easily recommend the Motion 300 to any friends or my parents, but I would only recommend the UBOOM L to friends that are okay with fiddling with the EQ. I am gonna return the Earfun UBOOM L. It sounds great, but it just isn't a very good product, it's missing some refinement. You can really notice that Anker has much more experience and R&D put in their speakers. Let me know if you have any questions.
I saw people talking about distortion on the Motion 300, but I didn't really notice any distortion on the Motion 300. So yeah they might've fixed that. Oluvs EQ is not my thing, it makes the speaker sound very bland, it seems to mostly remove the bass, and the default EQ of the UBOOM just sounds bad. I was able to make it sound pretty great with my own EQ, but I'm not sure if my mom would be able to do that. So I don't think that makes for a great product out of the box. The UBOOM L has more potential to sound better, but the Motion 300 actually sounds a lot better out of the box.
I really like the UBOOM X, but I wouldn't call it a premium product. It has cheap startup sounds, and the build quality isn't very premium either. It's just plastic and a bit of rubber. It does sound good tho.
Still doesn't feel like a premium product. And the design is very bland. It just sounds good, that's about it.
I wouldn't recommend any Earfun speaker to someone who isn't very tech savy. Every Earfun speaker sounds mediocre out of the box and they need EQing. I really like my UBOOM X, but I just can't recommend it to my mom. That's why my mom has a JBL Charge. Also, any of the stock (normal or OLUV's) EQs are way too focused on deep bass, which isn't the best with classical music. And it's not very portable I think, it's rather huge.
Those are all very different speakers, but if you want to have the best sound, bigger is almost always better. UBOOM X is a good choice.
I will probably get flamed for this, but the UBOOM X was definitely the best purchase of the year, great speaker for the €91 I paid. It can't compete with the JBL Boomboxes, but those are at least 3 times more expensive. I bought a Soundcore Motion 300 too, that thing is pretty good too. Feels and sounds very premium for a low price.
Bought it about 6 months ago, had to use a coupon code on the global website, so you pay in dollars. Dollar price and euro price is the same, but the conversion for dollar to euro is pretty good. Sadly they discontinued the speaker, I would like it in TWS. I haven't listened to the Boombox 3, but I feel like people compare the uboom x to more expensive speakers. The UBOOM X is not perfect, the way highs sound is a bit weird because the woofers get a full range signal, but overall it's pretty good. And the speaker gets very loud with decent bass. I mostly use it as a party or outdoor speaker, and it does that very well. At home I have a full surround system with big bookshelf speakers, and a big Edifier 2.1 system at my desk. Those sound much better, but I can't take those with me lol.
I have used it in some cars as well. Tried my old JBL Xtreme first, but the bass doesn't really keep up in a car. The Uboom X worked great with the BOOMXXX eq. No portable Bluetooth speaker can compete with a decent car stereo tho.
For me, the code reduced the price to $54.
[https://www.myearfun.com/speakers/earfun-uboom-l-portable-waterproof-bluetooth-speakers-black](https://www.myearfun.com/speakers/earfun-uboom-l-portable-waterproof-bluetooth-speakers-black) Oluvs code is not valid on Amazon, but on the manufacturer's website. But the deal Obvious-Bird-3588 was talking about seems to be even better.
I've tested both speakers with flat eq and also by increasing bass with custom eq. In both cases, earfun UBL wins as it sounds more fuller due to its size when compared to Tribit Xsound Plus 2. As a bass lover, that's the main reason to prefer UBL. My eq for UBL placement in the corner of a room Music: https://ibb.co/5wH7k62 Movies: https://ibb.co/LdyMG1qb
Earfun Uboom L. Get the version that was tuned by Oluv. You should see the picture of an Arnold Schwarzenegger looking dude on the marketing material. That's Oluv
Thanks for posting. Very interesting details! I bought two Earfun UBOOM X speakers last fall and very much enjoyed their sound when using your profiles. I returned them because of sound drops when paired in TWS mode (a known issue), but I was impressed with the responsiveness of Earfun support when I was troubleshooting the issue, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the UBOOM X to anyone who doesn't intend to use two of them in TWS mode. (I also have two UBOOM L speakers, which sound impressive given their size and inexpensive price)
It's worth it in terms of low volume levels what makes this speaker excel is the tuning don't know if you heard of an individual by the name oluv sone.
Uboom L has more bass in custom EQ and open sound, especially once the speaker is placed into a corner or under a working desk the sound really shines.
Get the earfun UBOOM L for 4k from Amazon. It's the best speaker in the segment.
When it comes to speakers, two things matter: build quality i.e. quality of the parts used and the tuning. Tuning is extremely important. To elaborate, if two low quality speakers were tuned differently; one by bose and the other by some unknown brand then they'd sound vastly different despite the exact same parts. I wouldn't recommend every single product of every single brand, much less earfun's but this particular speaker has been tuned by Oluv. And it sounds amazing out of the box. You can hear more instruments and clearer sounds. Also, it's stereo and has AUX cable for lossless playback. JBL makes some good speakers but their essential series have poor build quality. As for MI, I'll simply suggest you to not compare it to proper audio brands when the tuning is not done by anyone significant. Tribit has good options as well. But UBOOM L takes the cake. There's a separate fan base for this speaker, you can check on reddit. Uboom L goes for 6k normally so getting it for 4k is a great deal. Search for online reviews and you'll understand. Also, it has an 18 month warranty.
h/k go play + 3 is $159 right now. Just add to cart. Mine was delivered today. Not even close to comparable to my Bose flex, but since the OP was referring to things that include fitting in a backpack, the h/k does not meet that. I like the flex for exactly that. I also like my UBOOM L‘s at half the price.
