It's the reddit way, to downvote without a reason. For a little bit of context, I am more of a hifi speakers guy than a Bluetooth speaker guy. I was originally using a jbl charge 2 to listen to music while I was outside with my daughter, but I wanted something that gave me kind of the same hifi experience as my system in the house. What really sold me on the rocksteadys was [this review](https://youtu.be/pnaFLp1YPvE?si=C499gQM1CfzzIa5N) from Audioholics. They have great clarity, and for me, the sub make a big difference (op could just get the pair without a sub) in the overall enjoyment of listening to music on them.
My JBL charge 2 died and I wasn’t able to repair it. I’ve had it since 2015 or so. Is there a portable speaker I can hope to last me another 20 years?
I've had a Charge 2 (I think) for close to ten years and just the other day the waterproof plug cover fell off and won't stick. Otherwise, it's been great. I've taken it on trips, I've hung it up on the shower rod myriad times and no problems. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a rewind button.
The only good thing I heard about the Sony ult 1 is you can get lower bass out of it than the charge 5 I thought it had just as good sound and as my charge 2 but with deeper bass.
This never happened with any of my current or previous jbl speakers. And trust me iv'e had lots of them and still have. Iv'e had a charge 2,3,4,5 and now the 6.
I've been using a JBL Charge 2 for the last 11 years and its still going strong. (2014 purchase)
I’ve owned 2 charge 2s and listened on all of the rest. Currently own 2 charge 5 WiFis and a boombox 3 WiFi. I thought the charge 2s were amazing, and until they added WiFi to the charge 5 there wasn’t a whole lot of improvement. They’re great, but the boombox 3 WiFi is better than I had hoped on the first listen. Definitely the best speaker I’ve owned.
I use a JBL charge in my truck and a JBL earbud when walking.
Until it's too hot and shuts itself off. In an ffv, the side window is possibly better
