"over the course of 5ish years of college and hard abuse it finally gave out. ... When I say abuse I mean I literally would throw it 50+ feet, hold it underwater while canoeing, and never once paid attention to caring for the battery. ... I think it finally died after a roughly 15’ (~5m) drop onto concrete. ... Bought a brand new one the same week and it’s still going strong 4 years later. ... I can’t imagine any other electronic I’ve ever owned to take even a fraction of the abuse my charge 3 took."

"have had one for about 8 years now and still going strong ... I have put mine through he'll and it keeps on going."

"Ours have been through a lot (one was dropped in the river in 2020) and still work perfectly."

"The JBL lineup is relatively cheap, with the most value for your money a charge, second-hand they go for 50-75 euro, I believe they are new around 100 euro."

Jawbone did start it. They would have been around longer if they didn't do a "Sears" aka instead of sticking with something they are good at they went into different categories. The JBL Charge kinda replaced them but the charge wasn't as good as the Pulse. But I think the Charge 3 was what started JBL to be great. I remember when the Pulses actually sounded great the Pulse 3 still destroys the newer ones and the coolest looking one.

Budget jbl speakers are absolute shit . I own jbl pulse 2, charge 3 ,charge 4 they all r fantastic . Jbl has only great models in charge, pulse, extreme segment others are either very bad or very expensive . From ur options mi is the best in terms of audio quality but it has poor backup i.e like 1-2 hrs when used on max volume. I purchased it for 2friends so i know about mi speaker

JBL has raised its prices a lot. I remember buying the new Charge 3 for €115. Today, for €115, you can't even buy the Flip...

You might consider getting two UBOOM L for that price and I'm only judging by my experience. I have jbl charge 3 and jbl xtreme 2. Xtreme is just way too bassy to be a comfortable listen indoors and I don't really use it outdoors as much as I thought I would. So I barely ever use it. On the other hand two speakers in a stereo mode are incomparably better listening experience than one speaker. My guess is that you would mostly be using the speaker in the apartment so you won't be going crazy with bass and volume because of your neighbours so I feel like even if you got the bigger speaker you wouldn't be using it to its potential. In addition to that a smaller speaker can be easily dropped into a pocket or a small bag with other stuff. Larger one isn't really that convenient to take around. Anyway that was my line of thinking. I just ordered two UBOOM L because my JBLs can't play on battery any longer

I have a JBL charge 3 that I’ve had for a few years, no complaints on battery life

Charge 3 was the first time I was impressed for the size. Before that, there was always some compromise. Now I find it lacking and muddled, funny how it is.

no, i was not happy with mine at all it sounds terrible because it's a mono speaker and the tweeter just sounds harsh and also way too much bass, so much to the point that it's unusable in a small room or a shower because it just muffles all the other sound and the shockingly poor build quality, the rubber on the bottom started peeling off within the first week of owning it there's no place in this world for a $150 mono speaker, stereo has been the standard for years, it's an obvious cashgrab from JBL and Samsung to get you to buy a 2nd one for stereo sound or upgrade to one that has stereo if you really need a JBL speaker with a power bank then just get a charge 3 or charge essential 1st gen instead of this hunk of JUNK!

I just use a JBL charge. Battery powered, easy to bring places. With units other than the digitakt that are usb powered you can use it to provide power as well.

The Charge has a bit more bass and volume vs Flip. Sony Ult 1 or 300 XE are nice items. I was able to try Ult 1; nice sound. Soundcore Glow, 300, 600 are good speakers too.

Place it in a corner facing the room diagonally and it sounds much better. It's unfair to expect it to compare to something like a JBL charge (which I also have), but nothing beats that thing running all day on 1 bar of a 5Ah battery.

You mean a bluetooth speaker? The JBL lineup is relatively cheap, with the most value for your money a charge, second-hand they go for 50-75 euro, I believe they are new around 100 euro. It's weight is about 1kg (2,5lb), so ideal for a stroll in the woods!
