"No deep bass at all. ... But bass? Nah"
"The only thing about JBL’s is they are bass heavy, which is great for electronic / dance / hiphop / reggae music, but not so good for podcasts etc. ... Still perfectly fine, just not as clear as say, a Minirig"
My charge 3 lasted nearly 5 years of outdoors use in the Midwest. Summer, winter, forgotten about overnight, it was a tank. Side story: when it recently broke, I ordered another... Or so I thought. I was a little tipsy and bought the boombox instead. This giant box arrives, and let me tell ya, that thing POUNDS.
I have a JBL Charge 1 and a JBL Charge 3 both still work good. bought rhem around 10 yrs ago
JBL charge series is always a great buy, With a $150 budget. I have had my JBL charge 3 since 2018, only recently upgraded to the party box series, because I wanted something bigger and with way more bass. For a desk speaker the charge 4-5 is perfect, it has enough bass with EQ added. The flip and the other smaller ones that you can clip on, are going to be slightly quiet compared to the charge series. The charge series is the happy medium between good sound and portability.
cant help with new speakers, but the charge 3 does that(its nine years old now )
mine holds 14 hours (box says bought in 2016) its actualĺy even stereo( drivers are 5 cm apart)
for a nine year old speaker [its alright i guess](https://youtube.com/shorts/TPyP26r7c8M?si=p8_Xagb2RfqhGxdQ)
it is ipx7(probably 67 as the seal doesnt let water through for half an hour)
Two charges(maybe even the 6)
I'm thinking whether there is actually anything much better in that price range or the JBL is kind of a no brainier.. Others in this thread suggested a 5.1 or other used components /systems rather than something like the JBL but that feels like again being a whole new thing/rabbit hole🐰.. Before we had a JBL Charge 3 or something like that and that already was sufficient but of course it was handy because we could take in other rooms as well. That one was at the end of its life and currently we are just listening via our phones 😃
Charge 3 was peak! It was the last one to have a built in microphone so it could handle calls. I still have two working ones, although one of those is Frankensteined from 3 other ones.
I've had a JBL charge 3 for years, that was enough for me to buy the charge 6. Only complaint is no cover flap on the charging point but it's just as great as the last one
Had my JBL charge 3 for 6 or 7 years. It's still great but the battery needs to be replaced. Just picked up a new charge 6 and I will only recommend JBL now.
Don’t fall victim to to the ai hate. I have had multiple JBL speakers throughout the years from charge 3 and charge 4 to party boxes and have never had any trouble with any of them. If there is any truth to the fires it probably fake shit you buy off of temu
Bought my charge 3 in 2016 and it’s still going strong. Admittedly, it hasn’t been used much in the last 5 years or so but it still powers right up and sounds great.
Charge 3 is so elite for having 3.5mm aux input. Same with Xtreme 2. I’ll keep those until the battery busts.
