My charge 3 lasted nearly 5 years of outdoors use in the Midwest. Summer, winter, forgotten about overnight, it was a tank. Side story: when it recently broke, I ordered another... Or so I thought. I was a little tipsy and bought the boombox instead. This giant box arrives, and let me tell ya, that thing POUNDS.

JBL charge series is always a great buy, With a $150 budget. I have had my JBL charge 3 since 2018, only recently upgraded to the party box series, because I wanted something bigger and with way more bass. For a desk speaker the charge 4-5 is perfect, it has enough bass with EQ added. The flip and the other smaller ones that you can clip on, are going to be slightly quiet compared to the charge series. The charge series is the happy medium between good sound and portability.

I'm thinking whether there is actually anything much better in that price range or the JBL is kind of a no brainier.. Others in this thread suggested a 5.1 or other used components /systems rather than something like the JBL but that feels like again being a whole new thing/rabbit hole🐰.. Before we had a JBL Charge 3 or something like that and that already was sufficient but of course it was handy because we could take in other rooms as well. That one was at the end of its life and currently we are just listening via our phones 😃

Charge 3 was peak! It was the last one to have a built in microphone so it could handle calls. I still have two working ones, although one of those is Frankensteined from 3 other ones.

I've had a JBL charge 3 for years, that was enough for me to buy the charge 6. Only complaint is no cover flap on the charging point but it's just as great as the last one

Had my JBL charge 3 for 6 or 7 years. It's still great but the battery needs to be replaced. Just picked up a new charge 6 and I will only recommend JBL now.

Don’t fall victim to to the ai hate. I have had multiple JBL speakers throughout the years from charge 3 and charge 4 to party boxes and have never had any trouble with any of them. If there is any truth to the fires it probably fake shit you buy off of temu
