"Those things are overpriced in comparison!"
I’ve had a JBL clip 2 for 7-8 years until it was stolen a little over a year ago. I regularly used it floating in the pool. I’ve also had and am still using a Flip 5 which is 4 or 5 years old which I use poolside. I also use the flip 5 daily at my desk to play music. Battery life is still good, at last 3 hours, I don’t use it for longer stretches to know how much longer lasts.
I also have ADHD and listen to a speaker basically the whole time I'm carrying. I'm pretty sure it's allowed, at least no one's ever said a word about it. Search "jbl clip" on Amazon... it's a waterproof bluetooth speaker designed for listening in the shower but it will clip right on to your satchel ring. I've been using it for over a year now, works great with no issues. Also check out Audible if you haven't already... lots of good books go on sale every month for $5-8
JBL clip, super portable, dust and water resistant and great sound quality, they are also very durable
Bose Soundlink is a champ, our first died after many years and we got a replacement instead of something different. I was gifted a JBL mini-clip and holy SHIT this thing is loud and has pretty decent sound quality-around $70 I think.
I've had most of the lineup from JBL. The Go, Clip, flip, charge, extreme, and boombox. The only one I wasn't really happy with was the clip...it was being sold in a two pack and yet lacked the capability of virtually every JBL speaker which is to be able to link up to other JBLs and play in stereo. They're all good for their size/price. Obviously the Go doesn't thump like the boombox does but it's a fraction of the price and size. I think any of them up through the Charge can be charged with a USB cable then the bigger ones like the extreme/boombox have a proprietary charging cord. They're all at least somewhat water resistant and rugged all the way up to the Boombox and the Extreme being submersible. I remember when I first got the Boombox, being at a pool and my brother asked if I was worried about the speaker being so close to said pool. I said it's supposed to be waterproof and I then proceeded to throw it in the pool. It was totally fine. Battery life on them are all respectable, and at least personally, I haven't had a battery fail yet. The extreme and even more so the Boombox, seem to last forever. More recently I bought a Sony xg500 (Boombox equivalent) when it was on sale. Not a bad speaker, has good mids and highs, but the bass was a little lackluster and overall it couldn't get quite as loud as my 5 year old Boombox. It has an inferior IP rating compared to the Boombox as well. The only thing it really has over the Boombox, that I didn't even realize for a while, and it may or may not be a positive depending on the person, is it has some lighting effects on the side that strobe with music. Overall the Boombox is really the better buy for sure. The only other speakers I've heard that were as good or better were some bose ones, but they didn't have much bass, and the ones I saw didn't seem too rugged. The UE speakers I've heard were fine but not as good as JBLs
I've been a fan of JBL Bluetooth speakers since my first Clip many moons ago. I just upgraded to a few Clip 5s this weekend since you can now sync using multi-speaker connection with Auracast. I haven't tried it... yet, but will this week. I'm old school and also partially deaf (What?) and as such prefer high end treble to too much bass. All of the JBLs I've had have fit my needs handily. Up to twelve hours of play time per charge rounds things out. This model is also currently on clearance in many stores. Normally retails for $79.99. I picked mine up brand spanking new for $20.00.
Love my little JBL clip
You can still have great awareness. I keep a JBL clip in my shirt jac pocket, not the pen pocket, and i heard a dog running down the street at me with my back turned. It didnt bark neither, i just heard something.
JBL clip is great. Worth the money for me.
JBL Clip is the most practical and loud for its size. I've bought a few and given them away. I currently own 2. They are cheapest at tj maxx or marshalls for whatever reason.
