I use a JBL clip when I travel - the new 5 has better base and sound projection than the 4, but it’s pretty small and has good sound and battery life for what it is.

I avoid click-bait titles, but having spent a lot of time with the newer Clip 5 and Go 4 from JBL, I was honestly shocked by how well the Select 4 Go performs comparatively, given its $29 price point. Build quality falls a little short of JBL, and the multi-speaker pairing isn't quite as extensive, but still - I've tested a fair amount of speakers, and I'd have a hard time recommending something else for a budget-focused buyer looking for something like the Go 4.

The JBL Clip 5 would be perfect for extreme sports. It’s compact, rugged, and waterproof with an IPX7 rating, so it’s built to handle harsh outdoor environments. Plus, it has a carabiner that makes it easy to clip onto your gear while you're out on the slopes.

Hi, A quick update to the above. So I have just completed another round of reviews of mini Bluetooth speakers, supporting the Requiremints speakers team. Well, to make long story short, these are the best options for skiing and snowboarding to my opinion (weight - under 10 ounces), and you can read a bit more in [this page](https://requiremints.com/guide/best-bluetooth-speakers-skiing-&-snowboarding/): 1. **JBL Clip 5** \- A new model for this successful family of mini speakers, with improved sound. It will cost you about $80, but it is rugged, waterproof and have a great sound for its size and weight. The clip it has is super helpful, tough if you are doing an extreme skiing and snowboarding, I would tie it with an addition small wire for a backup. 2. **JBL Clip 4** \- Because the Clip 5 is out, you can find it with a reduced costs ($50) - it is still a great value for money and the sound is excellent. 3. **Sony SRS-XB100** \- Another excellent mini Bluetooth with a great sound, very popular. It is waterproof and come with a strap to tie it to your bag. It is a great option in case you want to use it also in other activitis. If you are really on a budget, the Clip 3 may be a good option (a bit old but can do the work if you dont want to invest). Hope this helps, please let me know what you think, comment and advise other options. Good luck

The JBL Clip 5 is an upgrade over the Clip 4 with better sound, deeper bass, and a longer 10-hour battery life. It also charges faster with USB-C. Both are waterproof and durable, but the Clip 5 has a bigger clip, while the Clip 4 is more compact and portable. So the Clip 5 is better, it costs also more (about $30 more). So if you really love music, probably the Clip 5 worth the investment, if you want something good in a better price (also if it lost, it is not that an issue :), go with the clip 4. Makes sense?

That's a very popular question these days:) So the JBL Clip 5 improves on the Clip 4 in these main factors: * **Durability**: The Clip 5 has thicker silicone padding on the back, making it tougher than the Clip 4, which had thinner strips that some users said peeled off over time. * **Sound**: It’s louder and clearer with 7 watts of power vs. 5 watts in the Clip 4. Plus, you can customize the sound with a 5-band EQ in the JBL Portable app, which the Clip 4 doesn’t support. * **Battery Life**: The Clip 5 lasts up to 12 hours, slightly longer than the Clip 4’s 10 hours. * **Connectivity**: The Clip 5 uses Bluetooth 5.3, offering better range and reliability than the Clip 4’s Bluetooth 5.1. For a small price difference, the Clip 5 is worth the upgrade - at least to my opinion.

I'm also trying to figure out which one to pick but it seems that no one responded LOL. I watched a review for the kilo and they said it's pretty good but it depends on the genre of music. it said for simple things it's able to play well but if you were to listen to metal or rock the melodies and the instruments would get confused and it might sound jumbled. so I'm trying to figure out if the clip 5 does that at all. because if it does then I'm just going to go with the kilo

i did get the kilo and it's honestly not the best. i love the battery life. lasts for days but the sound quality isn't good. especially if there's songs with quieter notes, you can't hear it. wish I would've gotten the JBL clip 😔

I just bought the JBL clip 5 yesterday and come to realize how disappointing it is. I previously owned a JBL clip 3 and it was amazing. The battery life at max volume lasted a lot longer than the clip 5 at max volume. I had two clip 3's and they all lasted 8 - 10 hrs at max or near max volume for almost 2 yrs. The clip 5 I have at max volume lasted only 6 hrs. I had it in my mind that . . . "12 hrs, that's 2 hrs better than a clip 3!" I read that it can last 12 hrs but only at very low volumes. But to me that defeats the whole purpose! Also I didn't like the huge bass boost, but I believe there's an EQ adjustment on an app, so that's an easy fix. So now I like to ask is there a better mini Bluetooth speaker that is small and can be carried around by a belt loop? I work physical labor 10 hr shifts, so a longer lasting battery would be nice.

I have a soundcore mini three, which I love for listening to podcasts while doing assignments. or for listening to music in the shower as I can hang it on the towel rack. I have a soundcore glow mini, which I like for the lights, and different colors, and I basically use it for the same reason as I do the mini three. I have a JBL clip five, which I like to use at work. I like to clip it to my clothes, and listen to music while I collect shopping carts at the grocery store I work at. and I have a soundcore motion X 600, which I love for parties.

Both the JBL Clip 5 and Tribit StormBox Micro 2 are solid choices for travel. The Clip 5 is super portable with a built-in carabiner, while the StormBox Micro 2 has strong bass for its size. If you want something louder, consider the JBL Flip 6 still compact but with more power.

I love JBL speakers! I got the original jbl extreme when it came out. It’s been through house parties, beach trips, been dropped, spray with water, and survived boat trips. 10 years later and it’s battery life has recently lessened, but still sounds the same with kick ass bass. Recently bought my husband the clip 5 and it’s amazing also. JBL also has different models of the same speaker. Some deliver clearer sounds notes, while others deliver more bass. Just depends what you are looking for.

I liked the sound quality of the Clip 4 vs the XBoom. I would go with the Clip 4 if I had to choose. You probably opt for the Clip 5 if you are staying in the JBL Clip line; the 4 and 5 are similarly priced due to the 5 being on sale.

Own both. They are pretty loud for the size. I prefer micro 2 that sounds pretty warm. But clip 5 is very convenient with the carabiner offering more highs. Sure a bigger will sound better outdoor.

I still don't understand your complaint here... the clip 5 is better than the clip 3 in everything. Louder, sounds bigger, futureproof, and yes it's adjustable in the app so you can lower the bass. I mean, there is the tribit stormbox micro 2 that competes, it does have a better battery life but the clip 5 is also great. Also you got the soundcore select 4 go.

What speaker do you guys use to blast your favorite wall of noise? I’m using a Bose Soundlink Flex atm and it’s not the worst, but it’s also kind of ass. Anything technical or complex is a muddy mess, and if you have highs and blast beats it clips the audio pretty hard. I’d love some recommendations or just to hear what you’re using and if you like it. I’ve almost bought one of the giant boombox sized ones several times but I really need something that I can get up a wind turbine without much fuss. It sucks that there are a lot of speakers that play popular music quite well so no one is going to market for our niche. EDIT: If anyone comes across this thread looking for recommendations I got a JBL Extreme 4 and it fucks hard. Very good sound quality at all volumes, both on battery and plugged in. Lasts forever, gets extremely loud in any kind of enclosed area. Sounds good in the open as well. I’m no audiophile but if Slice the Cake and The Mars Volta sound good on a speaker imo it has enough dynamic range for basically anything. I also got a JBL Clip 5 to clip on my harness when I won’t be up tower for long and it’s far from perfect but incredibly surprising for the size.

I work driving heavy machinery in a warehouse and we are allowed to use portable speakers for our personal music. So I was in the market for these types of device. I hope this is useful for someone that would be in my shoes. **Skullcandy Kilo** I came across the Kilo at Costco and they came with two and a travel case for 60$ and only color option is black. Seen the positive reviews and I brought them home and have been using them for about a week and a half. The sound of the Kilo with using both speakers is unmatched. But sadly I only wanted to use one for work for convenience. But even with just using one speaker it sounded very nice at med to med-hi volume levels. You will start to hear distortion at max volume levels. I usually only range between volume levels of 30-80% so it was fine. Nevertheless the sound signature of the Kilo was pleasant to hear. There is a 4 light battery level indicator on the device itself. After an 8 hour work usage, the battery life was at 80%. This unit does not come with mic support or firmware update supports or Skullcandy app connectivity. I was amazed at the 24hour battery life claim and I was thinking ahead that I can use these for beach days or parties. The on device buttons were easy to use even with a gloved hand. USB-C charging port, included carabiner clip, waterproof rated at IPX7, bluetooth 5.3. Dimensions: 119 x 83 x 51 mm The included carabiner clip was difficult to use with my sausage fingers. It's too small to connect to machine frames and holding bars such as forklift entry handles. I could only hang these around my belt loop or on my backpack for hikes. The good thing is you can always change the carabiner to whatever you want. And the thing that bothered me the most about the Kilo was that it kept disconnecting and reconnecting at random times. Throughout an 8 hour usage it might disconnect and reconnect about 3-5 times. I'd have to retrieve my phone and press play again or the play button on the device itself. As previously mentioned the device could not connect to the Skullcandy app and is not supported at this time. There is no way to update the firmware on these devices. I am considering returning them or keeping them for beach days or giving them to a coworker or using them in my home gym since the stereo paired will sound sublime. Here's all of the troubleshooting steps I did to see if it would fix the connectivity drop issues. But alas none worked. I am using an iphone 13pro max. * turn the device on and off * forget device and re-pair * turn my phone on and off * update software on my phone **JBL Clip 5** After the experience I've had with the Kilo I started looking into the market for another similar type device. I came across the JBL Clip 5 and I purchased it for $65 from Walmart and chose the squad color. As you may or may not know, this only comes with 1 speaker vs the Kilo from Costco that came with 2 plus a travel case. 12 hour battery life: this did not really affect me because I'll only need it for about 8-9 hours at work. But will probably be a challenge for longer needs like parties and the such. The sound signature was a much bassier type and after a full day of usage at work I learned to love the sound signature. As mentioned I typically use these at 30-80% volume but even as max volume I could not hear any distortion. Not sure how this will affect your experience if it changes based on the genre of music you listen to. JBL app support! This was huge for me. As soon as I turned on the device and connected, I downloaded the app and it connected right away and prompted for a firmware update! Thanks to the app support you could also change the eq to a setting that you desire. Since I tried and fell in love with the JBL signature eq settings, I just left it at that. There is a single battery light indicator that will turn from white to red when the battery gets lower. After an 8 hour usage the battery was at 63%. Has an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating. USB-C charging connection. The built-in clip is miles ahead and was easy to use. Its larger form factor allowed me to detach it from my belt loop and attached it to the machines I was driving. You can purchase another JBL product or the same clip 5 to connect them together as stereo or even more JBL devices if you wanted to for big big sound. Throughout an 8 hour usage at work, not once did it ever disconnect for me. Which was the only reason why I stepped away from the Kilo. Easy to use controls on device even with a gloved hand. Dimensions: 86 x 46 x 134 mm I'm not sure if this device comes with a built in mic. **Full disclosure, I have used the Kilo for a week and a half and the Clip 5 for only a day. If anything changes on my end I'll be sure to edit and add new discoveries.**

100% it’s the JBL for me. The disconnecting and reconnecting of the Kilo is a no go from me. It will stop the music, the Kilo verbally say “disconnected” then “connected”. Then you can press play to continue the music. However if that doesn’t bother you at all then it’s at a great price point. I think it’s $40 for the single or the $60 double at Costco to take advantage of the stereo feature is quite nice. The battery life is staggering too. 24 hrs on the Kilo and only 12 hrs on the JBL. Though I have not tested the battery time myself, I’m just going by the manufacturer claims. In terms of sound I like the punchiness of the JBL. And I can confirm that volume on the JBL can go much higher where the Kilo will start to distort as you reach max volume. Costco has a great return policy. And there is a chance that the Kilo that I got was defective. However I found multiple Reddit responses from other subs that had the same connectivity issue as me. I did look into the larger units like the JBL charge, JBL Flip or the Beats Pill, but the form factor will not work for me since I have to be mobile. Let me know what you end up getting!

I have both, the jbl arrived today and will be testing it at work tonight. I work with driving heavy machinery so I’m not allowed to use earpods. I even bought the Bose open ear ultra headphones but work still said no lol. I’ll respond here tomorrow sometime with a decent rundown. I know I’m late to the party at 5 months later but someone else might be in the shoes in the future.

I also have ADHD and listen to a speaker basically the whole time I'm carrying. I'm pretty sure it's allowed, at least no one's ever said a word about it. Search "jbl clip" on Amazon... it's a waterproof bluetooth speaker designed for listening in the shower but it will clip right on to your satchel ring. I've been using it for over a year now, works great with no issues. Also check out Audible if you haven't already... lots of good books go on sale every month for $5-8
