I have both (Flip 6 and Ult 1) and Sony definetly has better battery life and more power. It sounds louder and has more bass presence and depth, though JBL sounds crisper and has more detail in the highs, but the Sony sounds fuller due to having more mid-high bass.

If you don't want something that shakes the Windows but want something that fills the room then probably the best option for you is buying 2 small speakers to play in stereo, probably 2 JBL flip 6's or 2 JBL Charge 5's, but since your budget is so high for that type of use, then you can even buy 4 Flip 6's, connect them all with partyboost and put them on every corner so you Will have sound coming literally from every corner of the room, i think that's the definition of "sound that fills the room with sound".

I recieved my new Ult Field 1 yesterday and i've been doing some tests comparing it to both of my JBL Charge 5's, TL and TT versions. Today i wanted to test the bass so i put my usual bass test video wich goes from 100hz to 20hz with 5hz steps and i discovered that when the Charge 5 goes below 60hz, the volume decreases significantly when in the other hand, my Sony Ult Field 1 kept almost the same good volume on the bass up to 50hz. Below that, on 45hz the bass on the Charge 5 completely dissapears when the Sony still kept reproducing the frequency at a reasonably audible volume. Any thoughts about this? Has anyone tested it? This shocked me because many reviewers and people in general tend to say that the JBL FLIP 6 has a deeper bass than the Sony and even though i don't have the Flip 6, taking in count what the Sony managed to do here, it just cannot be true that the Flip 6 has a better bass response. The Sony basically reached the JBL Xtreme 3 frequency response being a quarter of it's size. On rtings.com page, the Sony ult field 1 reached a low-frequency response of 55.8hz, the Flip 6 reached 75.5hz, the Charge 5 reached 58.2hz, and the Xtreme 3 reached down to 55hz. I saw those charts before recieveng my Ult Field 1 and i thought that they did something wrong in the tests but it just proved me wrong. NOTE: both of my Charge 5's we're equalized with the bass turned all the way up and tested on the same phone and same place so there's no excuses here.

How do you know that? It makes sense to me, the bass sounded way less deep compared to the Sony when i heard both. Also, if the charge 5 reaches about 55hz like almost every other speaker of that size, then it makes even less sense to me that, like you said, the Flip 6 rolls off at 50hz.

No problem, and yeah though it is technically true that if you use it at 50% volume it could last you 12 hours, a speaker that sounds so good just makes you want to crank up that volume! If you want any opinions/recommendations though, right now my favourite and the one that i'm gonna stay with is the Earfun Uboom L (i've had Soundcore motion 300, JBL flip 6, Sony ULT Field 1, Soundcore Motion+, JBL Charge 5, etc). You might be surprised, but that single 10 band equalizer is what makes it so good, because you can have the clarity and brightness of the Flip 6 while having the strong deep bass of the Ult Field 1. Just to compare, it goes deeper and way louder than the ULT Field 1, and i think that on indoor Mode it has a deeper bass than the Charge 5, while in outdoor mode it gives an amazing party soundstage, and i also think that it goes the same loudness of the Charge 5, at least with high volume equalizers. The battery life is a bit better than the Sony too!

I said on my post that i got that info from RTINGS.COM. You could be experiencing a fake response, because on almost every speaker that i've tried, you can even hear something on 20-30hz, but it's just the drivers making an attempt to reach that frequency and they aren't really moving at the necessary amplitude but instead, it's making a nonsense sound that could make you think it's reaching that low.

Sony ult field 1 gives an amazing punch in the shower, JBL flip 6 is a good option too, but if you really want a bang for your buck, the soundcore motion 300 is unbeatable with the right EQ (if you don't like creating a personal EQ, you can search one on Google too). And for a smaller option, the Sony XB100.

I bring my flip 6 when I have multiple people. The floor is cool enough for any electronics. Also use Apple air pods all the time without issue.

Hello I bought the ult field 1 and well at first I was excited since I never had a better speaker other than those Chinese crap priced at like 20 euros or something. The sound is good I like it but after watching reviews of JBL flip 6 and ult field 1, I came to the conclusion that JBL flip 6 indeed has more clearer sound, it's more crispy. Ult field has better bass. So I guess it depends on what you want to listen to in your music. Sometimes you want the bass with some techno and sometimes you want to hear the clear crisp sound like the person is singing in your own room. So my question is: can you adjust the sound in ult field 1 (music center app by Sony or whoever) to make the sound more clear and crisp or something like that. I tried in the equaliser a bit and I don't know... It's not doing that much.. maybe I am doing it wrong? I set bass to max, mid to 2 and treble to 5 or something like that, since I assume middle is the best attribute in the Sony speaker. When I activate the ult button it does wonders to the bass but then it kinda lacks in highs sometimes I don't know. Another question, is it possible to have both ult button on and the equalizer turned on to your liking?

I traveled with the flip 6 the last years, but at the trips, it always seemed to big for the luggage / in the bags. I really like the Stormbox micro 2 design wise, even more since it can be used as a powerbank, but I got the soundcore select 4 go and I really like it (not the tribit mostly cause of its price, not that I couldn’t afford, but I don’t like to spend that much on a small speaker😅). I wished the soundcore had the powerbank function too, but it’s half the price and at that difference, I’m not really willing to get the tribit instead😅 and it is a really great deal for its price. It is loud as a personal speaker and with fitting equalizer settings in the soundcore app it sounds way bigger ( in its thump) at moderate volumes where I’m listening. Of course not meant for party, but still fitting for a little gathering or so, or when working some where else. For example, I was fixing my bike 3 days ago and hung it close by at ~ 30 % volume and it was nice background music and still easily hearable. If you don’t care about bass and it’s just about volume, I don’t think either of the small will do bad, cause all get loud, but if it’s about party bass for multiple peeps or yourself, you will need a physically BIG speaker

I really enjoy the Charge 5. It's the first "big" portable speaker I bought for myself, and I started off with one Charge 5 initially and thought it sounded great; clear sound and clean bass for its size. Then I bought another since I wanted to pair them for stereo sound, and was even more impressed with sound quality (even though the EQ is set to flat when in stereo mode and you can't adjust it). I wanted more portability and later bought a Flip 6. The sound is pretty good on the Flip 6 but I prefer the Charge 5 over the Flip 6 for sound. I have since bought a JBL Authentics 200 (not a portable speaker) which is now my go-to when listening to music at home, and only been using the Charge 5 in the shower. I used to bring the Charge 5 with me when going to places but that's been replaced with the Flip 6 since it's a more travel friendly size to me. Like someone else said, I agree the Charge 5 gives you the best bang for the buck for this size speaker, and the battery life is amazing.

I have used JBL Flip 6, Boom 3 and JBL Go 2 and all worked great. i set them on the floor for when I do auffguss and it has never been a problem. I even bring the phone in with me to control the music if needed and if it is in the floor it doesn’t heat up at all

I have so of them minus the Beats Pill. The overwhelming consensus on this one is that if you stay within the 50% volume range, it'll sound great but as you go up in volume the sound starts to break and sound terrible. From the others, the best is the Bose Flex. The sound is more "closed" standing up, but it's beauty is that its EQ changes completely when on its back (position #2). The speaker opens up and the highs come out. It sounds great! So much so that it actually sounds like a real speaker. It's sound never breaks up at any volume and has enough low end to be satisfying (movies or music) and It just sounds"right". It's BT lag is the best in the business so you will have voices sync when watching videos. It's also hard a great mic for calls. And I can't believe it's from Bose because I can't stand the brand! The JBL Flip and Sony don't sound "right". The Sony may be louder and bassier but even with its EQ, the sound never sounds right. The mids and highs always sound like a blanket has been put over it. The Flip may sound more right than the Sony but sounds hollow in the middle when you put it up against the Bose's balance. Just remember that the Bose sounds great on it's belly, but standing up, sounds closed like the Sony. The Bose goes on sale constantly so try to catch it at $109 or even better come Black Friday. I grabbed the Filp and Sony for $99 but again didn't compete against the openness and balance of the Bose!

The very highly rated Marshall Acton 3 is the most balanced. I got it at for $179 Target clearance last week. It absolutely destroyed everything I had! (Soundcore x600, Bose Flex, Flip 6, Charge 5, Sony ULT Field 1, W-King 10). The bass is strong, right, deep, and the mids/highs doing get drowned out with volume. Your typical listening level is also an important datapoint since speakers often sound best at a particular volume. I believe 3 of the 4 you mentioned will rapidly cut bass at about 70-80% volume to achieve max dBs. I mean yeah it's loud, but for me unlistenable. The JBL flip 6 can use USBC for audio input but you’re gonna need an esoteric ass usb-c to RCA cable off amazon. Then you hold down bluetooth and play for a bit and it should work.

Ordered the Mi outdoor portable speaker * 2 for $81 They have an exact dual speaker system with a racetrack and a Tweeter. 30W RMS sounds way better than my old jbl flip 6 and sony ult field 1! Imagine the two of them in sync! Not going to lie, the pair sounds better, cleaner and open than an entire Dolby Atmos soundbar. My search for the bluetooth speaker finally halts for another 2 years at least. Give them a listen if they're officially available in your country.

I'm telling you... It does! I've done it. I've connected the FLX4 using a power bank, a USB 8 in 1 Hub, JBL Flip Wireless Speaker, using an iPad 10th Generation. The only issue I was having is storing the music on the ipad. I was having problems using an external hard drive. I was using a 320GB laptop hard drive using a SATA cord or something...connects the external laptop hard drive by means of USB port. The power bank I was using is a BEAST FLX4 calls for a certain voltage of power bank, got it for $3 at a yard sale. I did a 90 minutes set, and only one of four lights were dim. It powered the iPad and the FLX4. I just couldn't afford the extra $$$ to have it as standby, backup...and I'm not even a DJ. But I do have a pair of Pioneer DM 50D's

The only good one on your list is the Boombox 3. Flip 6 is good for its size. The others are trash unless you absolutely love wifi speakers which is the only reason to ever consider a Sonos speaker. Personally the Harmon Kardon Go + Play 3 is the best indoor speaker I've heard and the Onyx 7 that is currently on sale on the HK website comes close to it.

My go-to portable speaker is the Bose Soundlink Flex 2. It can withstand outdoor roughness and outperforms its weight when it comes to sound quality. If the Flip 7 isn’t announced soon, the Flip 6 is another excellent option to consider. It sounds great and can also handle outdoor conditions.

Before getting the Flex Gen 2, I didn’t even think about Bose. But wow, the sound quality is incredible! My old Flip 6 was great, but the Flex 2 is on a whole new level. It’s now my go-to speaker, and for louder outdoor use, I got a Soundlink Max. I’ve always been a JBL fan when it comes to Bluetooth speakers, but now I’m officially team Bose. They’re a bit pricey, but they’re definitely worth it when they go on sale.

Flip 6 and Bose SoundLink are both excellent options, but for me personally, after owning both, I’ll go for the Bose. Deeper bass and clarity.

300 is great. Sounds as good to me as my Uboom L, Flip 6 or Motion Plus did, but lays flat which helps in a golf cart. I prefer the flat shape for packing and for the ability to lay flat in a golf cart, on a bed, etc. All of the above have very good sound for their respective size category…at the point when I’m splitting hairs over sound, shape, features and app become more important tie breakers.

Check out TOZO and Tribit on Amazon but I own the flip 6 sounds good I wasn't disappointed plenty of bass I think for the size I have an older Sony that blows it away but larger physically.

I have enjoyed the Wonderboom. I like the small footprint and 360 sound actually works well. JBL Flip 6 is good. It likely has a little bit better sound quality than Wonderboom (wonderboom sounds quite good, but I think JBL adds a bit more bass). Soundcore Motion 300 is good too. It is modeled after the Bose Flex. It does sound really good.

Both the Flip 6 or the Sony Ult 1 are nice speakers. I had a chance to try both, and both sound good. I would give the Flip 6 an 8.3/10 and Sony 8.1/10. Sony costs about $35 less in the US . The Sony sounds excellent. So, if its price is better, you still are gifting a very good speaker.

The Charge has a bit more bass and volume vs Flip. Sony Ult 1 or 300 XE are nice items. I was able to try Ult 1; nice sound. Soundcore Glow, 300, 600 are good speakers too.

I have had a chance to try most of these. I would think the Bose Flex sounds the best. The Ult 1 and JBL both sound good, but the Bose sounds perhaps .5 pts out of 10 points better. David the Cnet editor thought Soundcore 300 was almost as good as the Bose. I tried the Ult 1 recently at Walmart: very nice. It was a good value of sound quality v. price.

Most of the main speakers go by this super hero and side kick design. So, you connect the first speaker to your device. You then hit the pairing button on 1st speaker to connect the 2nd. I don't have that many speakers, but this works with speakers like Wonderboom 4 by UE, Flip 6 by JBL, Soundcore Glow.

I think technically Bose Flex is the absolute best sounding small personal speaker. The JBL Flip 6 is a great sounding speaker. To me, it sounded better than the prior model the Flip 5. I do like speakers with small footprints personally. I do like the Flip and Charges from JBL and the Wonderboom and Boom from UE because of the small footprint.

I do like speakers with small footprints personally. I do like the Flip and Charges from JBL and the Wonderboom and Boom from UE because of the small footprint.

Seems you want clear mid and high range instead of xbass , bassy muffled young happiness. Glad to gear. Then speaker more focused on that range would be sonos roam 2, anker soundcore 300 (mid volume), jbl flip 6 (on mid volume) and tribit maxsound plus (discontinued) but is available with resellers on aliexpress. There are more expensive options (not battery and tabletop form factor) that are compact and their mid and high range is big improvemment vs bluetooth portable battery speakers but the price skyrockets.

The xtreme 4 has much deeper bass than the charge 5. And it's stereo too. I just got my charge 5 today and it has pretty good bass. I also have a flip 6 so when partyboosted they hit pretty hard

How did the flip 6 only hit 75hz? Mine only starts rolling off at 50hz.

Because I have a flip 6 myself. I only hear 50hz when it's just a flat frequency and nothing else. But in normal songs it goes down to 60hz. Idk where you got 75hz from.

I can hear the 60hz very well in songs. The jbl Website literally says the jbl flip 6 reaches 60hz.

I have 2 of these for a few months now, they sound amazing for the price and look good too. I actually prefer the sound to flip 6, ult field 1, emberton 2 and sound link flex

Bluetooth does work with jbl I use it daily, not an easy or fun method to make it work though.

Yep same app, I use Djay pro 4$ a month(best app in my opinion) and hook up JBL flip 6 to it every time I mix. Like other commenters say it’s a slight delay. I would say like .4-.5 seconds with Bluetooth but for casual fun use. The JBL bass is worth it. Like I mentioned before the set up is weird. It didn't do this in the first 6 months of owning my charge 4 and flip 6. My charge 4 and flip 6 started doing this after the warranty is over. I didn't use the lfm mode and I played these two speakers at <50% volume. Musics are from Spotify streaming. Flip 6 used default EQ. Air leakage from the charging port? How do I fix this?

Agreed! I think the Flip 6 is just great value and a really solid all around speaker. I do really like the Soundlink Flex - it sounds excellent.

From the Roam that I had, I liked how the midrange and highs sounded, but the bass is very weak if I compare it to my SoundLink Flex or the Flip 6, and it loses bass at higher volumes of 60%, which is more noticeable. The other negative thing is the battery life, in my case it only lasted 6 hours at 50% volume. If you want it to last longer, you have to deactivate the microphone and you lose Trueplay and the voice assistant.

I had the Flip 6 for a few days and replaced it with the Charge 5. I did't like the sound, the tweeter wasn't doing a good job at higher volumes. I love the C5, a brilliant little speaker, big upgrade from the Flip 5 that I owned before

I second this. This is a really good idea. Most “room filling” sound is going to be too loud for your neighbors. BUT, a pair or more small speakers together will SOUND fuller even at lower volumes. Flip 6 is good. EarFun Uboom L sounds really good in stereo and at low volumes. Plus you can switch to indoor mode for less “boom”. Motion 300 is really good too and would work well for your situation.

Motion 300 or uboom l wayy better than mono shet jbl flip 6!! U will get earache while listening to flip 6 for 15min but not in case of motion 300 i got both flip 6 sounds like tin can infront of motion 300

I would go Charge 5. Charge 5 is on sale for $139.95. I'm gonna be honest. I'm not sure how much of a step up upgrade or downgrade the Flip 5 to the Flip 6. But, I had the Flip for 5 years. I just got the Charge 5 a few weeks ago and the sound quality between the Flip 5 and Charge 5 is signicant. I feel the bass was more pronounced, punchy, attacky if it makes sense with Flip 5 than the Charge 5. Everything else though. A lot bigger sound.

Depending on your bathroom size, flip 6 might give too much overwhelming bass and give bass droning that is gonna make u wanna dig your brains out. Bass is significantly amplified in bathrooms as they are basically built like an echo chamber. A go 3 would be better imo than the go4 too, go 3 has better and much more accurately tuned mids and highs, whereas the go4 has better bass but u rlly don't need that in the shower while sacrificing the rlly good mid and high tuning for more bass u don't need imo. Jbl is working with power constraints here so they had to make compromises to the mids and highs to get more bass out of the lil driver

Charge 5 or Flip 6. I bet on Black Friday the Charge 5 will be available under 150. Also if you really want it loud in there you can't go wrong with the Tribit Stome Blast and you can find that for 150 all the time.

No you won't get close to the bass on the jbl party box with the charge or flip. It decent for a small room or just to bring around the house with you or travel. You'll want to go with the Tribit Storm Blast to get the most bass at 150 buck mark. It's also waterproof so it can stay in your bathroom. Since you mentioned hiking probably the Flip 6 which has solid bass for its size and is pretty portable. JBL Clip is another option but it doesn't get very loud.

It really doesn't bro🤣🤣 the charge 5 is physically larger, it has a larger driver. The sony has more bass than the flip 6, not the charge 5. And let me remind you, even the old sony XB models used to claim 20 hz, but when you tested those frequencies you heard fake humming. It never reached that low and it can't. Sony are known for doing that since their XB30 and XB40 speakers

That must be a mistake mate There is no way that it can blow out even at max volume, unless you used LFM.. jbl are always using limiters and reduce bass the higher you go in volume, i have never heard people complaining about blown race track drivers on the newer jbl models or anywhere.. I ordered mine from aliexpress, that's the only way for me to get it

From the post you linked, it sounds like either air leakage from the charging port, or a defected unit... Because ever since the charge 4 came out and jbl started using those racetrack drivers, i came to the conclusion that these drivers are pretty beefy and are not pushed to their limits that easily. I saw people taking a flip 6 driver, and connecting it to a boombox 2 by cable, and the driver handled it like a boss. So unless you smell something burnt coming out of the driver, i don't think it's the problem.. LFM is what can kill those drivers and even that didn't quite kill those race track ones.

I have no idea what happened, but trust me on that, i have never heard a case in which any of these speakers blew up without using LFM or anything else. I have the charge 4 since it came out and i abused the F out of it, including the flip 6 and charge 5. Nothing happened to them yet and i own them for more than 4 years

What you need it for? At least provide some context if you want a small portable good sounding speaker go for the flip 6 if you want a slightly louder speaker with more bass and battery life with a powerbank function go charge 5. Both have IP67 rating and both have great build quality.

I compared Bose SoundLink, Jbl charge 5, Jbl flip 6, Soundcore Motion X600, Klipsch Nashville and HK luna. I chose Luna from all. The best balanced sound for this price range. I found JBL highs to harsh, bose pretty good but not so open , Klipsch missing any lows, and Soundcore...I liked it but when I listened side by side with Luna...well..I ended up with Luna :)

best is relative. great sound for money value you get with soundcore motion plus or tribit xsound plus 2. But then you moght want tuse teh app and try ew settings. best portabilty and out of the boy usability ou get with jbl flip 6, ue wonderboom, or sony ult field 1. The latter is a little bigger than the others, but includes speakerphone, a flexile strap and vertical and horizontal positioniong, so its the most practical one.

For showering and biking, the GO4 should do the job; I have a GO3 strapped to my bike and it works well (I usually have it set to 90% volume when biking in traffic). In your use case the FLIP6's volume wouldn't really be an advantage IMO, but it does have a fuller sound; keep in mind it's much larger than the GO4 though, you'll be going from a pocket-sized speaker to something the size of a small water bottle.

For only shower go series is enough, but for anything else Flip will be better (I use my old GO2 for work, biking sometimes and I wish it had more volume especially on the bike or in an open field).

Jbl flip is a good portable speaker. Just pay attention because jbl removed the line in jack from later versions of the flip.

It's possible. I've used my wireless system and a 1/4-1/8 converter to connect my bass (via my Helix Stomp as preamp) to a JBL Flip which was the 'poweramp'. The results were amusing from a quality standpoint, but it would have worked fine for quiet practice at home, were I not to have many other non-absurd better options. The obvious issue is that these speakers aren't designed or voiced for bass guitar, and they don't have a preamp; so you'll need to find a way to preamplify your bass for starters. Then, even when you do, the sound will be wacky, muffled, unmusical, and just plain shit, and that's assuming you don't crack the speakers pumping a bass guitar through them. All you're doing is setting yourself up to have wasted a reasonable amount of money. But, just to avoid raining on your parade fully, you can totally use powered full range PA cabs to amplify a bass, and you can find these all over the place on the secondhand market, in pawn shops and on FB Marketplace for really cheap. They're a better solution, and often way cheaper (like $80-150) than a JBL. You'll still ideally need a preamp of some sort to control your tone, but I've done coffee-shop style gigs with my Alto 112, which is about 100w RMSish I reckon, and I got that for $100AU (60USish).

They are mono, I think. At least, when I've mastered a track, I often find anything I've put wide in the mix seems to have phasing issues on the JBL. Might not matter for jamming with Move though

JBL flips are pretty small and they bang. Obviously don't mix on them but for writing they're great.

Sony has warmer sound, also looks and feels better. Especially for older people sony sound better Jbl Flip has a bit more 'power' tho, that you don't need if you are not outside with your friends trying to blast loud music You could also consoder Soundcore Motion+ for this price, but you'd have to tweak a bit in the EQ. If you want a bigger speaker overall, Charge Essential 2 might be an option. All around the price region of the Sony, especially witz black friday coming up

JBL. I have had one for years. It’s water resistant. Has great sound. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive. I have literally dropped it in the bath tub with the kids and it still sounds great. Also for rock you can turn on “party mode” which makes is louder and heavier bass.
