So, I bought the new GO 5 about a week ago. I've tried the GO 4. And I just bought the CLIP 5. Why? Because the new GO 5 is significantly underwhelming and I'm returning it. The GO 4 has punchier bass compared to the GO 5. You can feel it when powering it on. The signature JBL power on sound just rumbles more in the palm of your hand on a GO 4. The new GO 5 has significantly less bass. You have to play with the EQ to get some punch. The "JBL Signature" EQ setting is pretty thin, so you MUST adjust the EQ. The new lights are pretty cool though. Most people find them tacky. And I can understand. But they are fun. But the new GO 5 just isn't loud enough. It's probably 10% louder than the GO 4, but on its max volume, it just becomes thinny. I recommend one volume down (90% max). I need it to fill a room and still sound good when it's loud(est). So, I just came home with a CLIP 5 after playing with it at the store. It's SIGNIFCANTLY louder and more punchy. This thing can fill a big room and it would be good for outdoors, too. Hell, it can even be too overpowering. I can change between the GO 5 and CLIP 5 on the fly and it's immediately obvious which one is which. Now, the CLIP 5 doesn't win any beauty contest, but the carabiner is very useful. I have a few more bars I can slide up and down in the GO 5 EQ settings. It's more waterproof (IP68). It looks better and smaller. It's got Bluetooth 6 and fun lights. But in the sound department, the CLIP 5 blows it out of the water. Battery life on the GO 5 is 8 + 2 hours, while the CLIP 5 is 12 + 3 hours. Oh, by the way. The GO 5 is faster to power on and off. It's quicker to react when pressing buttons. Especially when powering off, the CLIP 5 is incredibly sluggish, but you really have to do side-by-side comparison.
Why wouldn't it still be worth it? It's their newest small speaker
The clip 5 is the Goat of small speakers!! I use mine everyday!! I have a go4 as well and I hardly ever use it.
Go 4 battery sucks!
Yet another small budget speaker added to my collection, my first speaker from this brand 👍this little guys design always intrigued me, mainly because of the exposed passive radiator , I’ve never seen a speaker this small have an exposed radiator, pretty neat 👌 Besides that, I’m pleasantly surprised by this speaker! I only paid about 25 dollars for this, and at that price this speaker is great. I compared it to my JBL Go 4 and was surprised to hear how close it comes. They sounded almost indistinguishable at first, but as I listened closer I did notice a few differences. The Go 4 has a bit more detail than the Sound Pocket, but I feel like it doesn’t get as loud. The Go 4 is a 4.2 watt speaker while the Sound Pocket is 5 watts, but it’s such a small difference in volume and barely noticeable. However the Sound Pocket distorts very slightly at full volume while the Go 4 maintains a bit cleaner sound, but again, it’s a small difference. Although in terms of bass, I like the bass response on the Sound Pocket better. It’s surprisingly punchy and trebles are clear. In a way the sound reminds me of my Select 4 Go. And the battery life is pretty good too, about the same as my Go 4. As to be expected for a speaker this size. All in all this little speaker is a great value, sounds great for its price and has a pretty unique design 🙏
I have both and when comparing them they sound very close. In terms of overall detail in the music they sound pretty much the same, and bass sounds around the same too. Although the soundcore does have a slightly warmer sound to it, and the sound pocket has a brighter sound and hits higher in the trebles, which makes it sound a bit louder. Overall though they’re very similar in terms of sound quality and price. But the soundcore does have a longer battery life, 20 hours instead of 10 hours on the sound pocket. In my opinion both are great values
Nice! Yes I’m pretty surprised this cheap speaker has the amount of punch it does. Great addition to my collection of 13 now 14 speakers 😂 I got a JBL Partybox 110, soundcore boom 2 se, soundcore select 2s, select 4 go, soundcore mini 3, Tribit Stormbox 2, Stormbox mini, Stormbox micro 2, Jbl go 4, Jbl clip 5, Jbl flip 6, Skullcandy kilo…. And now the sound pocket 😅 oh and a wking d8 haha
To me in terms of sound quality, they’re very close. I’ve noticed some similarities in terms of clarity and detail. Although I think sound pocket hits a bit higher in the trebles. However the Select 4 Go has a longer battery life. It advertises 20 hours while the sound pocket advertises 10 hours
As far as I know, there’s no way unfortunately. If this speaker had an app then I can see being able to shut it off like some other speakers, but there’s no app support for this speaker. It’s just how it is 😅 I’m personally not bothered by it, I honestly like its power on and off sounds because they sound unique and not like every other cheap Chinese speaker with generic startup and shutdown sounds 😂
I have the Go 4, it is fine, if you can find a Costco nearby, they were selling packs of 2 for 30 dollars, not sure if that deal is still around, but even without the deal, it is a solid speaker. Default tuning is quite boomy but an EQ later and it should sound flatter, bass extension goes to 80~85Hz so it is solid for the size. With water on the front fabric it'll sound a lot more muffled, to be expected. The best deal I've seen on Amazon is the Motion X500 for 50 dollars. It is much larger, like MUCH LARGER, than those you're picking between and less portable, but I'm pretty sure it is louder and sounds better than them too. Given that it is basically 50% off the typical discounted price (original 170 dollars is bc they want to charge extra for spatial audio BS), I would suggest you give it a consideration if you can tolerate the extra size and weight.
Gen 3 B&O is out now but, I'm still rocking the 2nd Gen for potable great sound, and it's good enough for under $140 on Amazon renewed, and I'm using my JBL Partybox Club 120 for my whole home theater setup in my Den connected to my JBL Clip 5, and a JBL Go 4 linked in Auracast and it works well all together!
jbl go 4 is insane fo the 50 buck price
