JBL Partybox Encore, it's way bigger than most other mentioned. But sounds good and has a lot of bass.

I sing a lot. This is the best quality speaker for a quick singing moment. My setup is 65” TV, Apple TV, YouTube App, JBL Party Box w/ 2 mics. The gain on the mics is amazing.

You want JBL then, might be a bit bright but honestly that problem isn't that bad with the partyboxes. Encore seems the crowd favorite but I like the new 120, might also find a good deal on them.

It depends on what you mean by “portable”. I would say the JBL 300 Partybox series or, slightly smaller, the Partybox 100 series or the even smaller JBL Encore and On-the-go are (still) “portable” and offer brutal bass for their sizes. These are just great fun speakers and, in my opinion, still affordable. Even cheaper alternatives with some compromises are for example: Klipsch Gig XL and Klipsch Gig XXL.

My suggestions: Most BASS for the budget: JBL Partybox Encore (manufacturer refurbished) or Soundcore Boom 2 Plus / Tribit Storm Box Blast. VALUE for money: lower price (when on sale): Soundcore Motion+, higher price (when on sale): Tribit Storm Box Blast / Soundcore Boom 2 Plus (when on sale) (ultra?) PORTABILITY (the smaller the better?): Klipsch Austin (sorry, I wouldn't go any smaller) or JBL Charge 5 (the biggest speaker I consider ultra-portable for its size and price). FEATURES: too abstract for me... 😄 For the speakers you suggested: BASS: Soundcore Boom 2 VALUE: Soundcore Boom 2 PORTABILITY: Charge 5 FEATURES: Soundcore Boom 2

if size don matter, 2 sony xv500. 2 jbl encore are half the size and a little cheaper and also good. XV500 has more more power, more details and can be linked to other sony speakers also. And cause they are higher, better if you want to put them just on the ground. For the encore you would need st table or chair or sth to put it on for good sound quality.

The stormbox blast is probably better in terms of sound quality than the xtreme. The downside is, that its much bigger and heavier, has probem playing at lower volumes, app is sometimes down, is not produced sustainably probably and so on. cheap china production. Anyway the best for under 300 new is probably the JBL encore, yet because of the built form you have not much stereo separation. For 300 you could also get 2 Stormbox blast though and play them in stereo... if you dont mind the size. or if you want sth smaller, 2 Sony xg300

I wouldn't go for the xg300. For the car i'd get a decent set of door speakers to put in there but if you're going for a bluetooth speaker the x300 ain't doing it. Partybox encore, or any other partybox from jbl will sound insane in a car, or tribit stormbox blast or boomboxes from jbl.

Oh, I missed that JBL model because it was over the price range I was checking. It costs 230 €, topping Makita by 35% (170€). Obviously Makita doesn't include battery, but I too am assuming everybody considering it owns those already. But yeah that's pretty similar to the Makita speaker. JBL is larger in size (around 200x200x200mm vs 300x300x300mm) and in woofer size (4" vs 5,25"). The power thing is a tricky one. I think the 100W is just marketing speech. What we can compare is their power consumption by battery capacity and runtime. Makita is said to have 26 hours runtime with 5 Ah 18 V battery (90Wh), which adds up to 3,5W power. Partybox has 27Wh battery with 6 or 10 hours runtime (depending on the source), which means 2,7W to 4,5W power. So I guess they are pretty much as powerful. I don't know if JBL has the juice to move that large woofer properly. Speaking of batteries, JBL pretty much sucks on that. Battery charge time is 3,5 hours. Makita charges in 45 minutes with the rapid charger. So JBL charges the battery about 2-3 times faster than it depletes it. Makita's number for charging efficiency is 35. JBL has blinking lights and karaoke mode if you're into that. Makita has IP65 clearance, so it can take pretty heavy water and dust. JBL has IPX4, so no dust proof and but can take some splashing water like rain. Yeah I don't know if one is more hifi than the other. Would be interesting to see some proper sound quality test results.

Was cheaper than I thought. Similar JBL is the partybox encore, which lacks any meaningful resistance, but does have its own battery. The JBL is 100W, the Makita is supposedly 10W, but considering the size of the speakers, I'd assume they aren't using the same scale... Run time on the jbl is 6 hours, the makita is 35 hours (battery size not specified). Assuming the sound actually holds up, the Makita is a much better speaker for the same money (battery ownership assumed).

Never buy a speaker made by a battery company. The corners they are willing to cut will be immense since they have 0 reputation in audio. They have nothing to loose and your money to gain. Do yourself a favor and get a JBL Partybox encore or 120 and it will guarantee destroy this speaker. JBL won’t cut corners on the important audio gear. JBL’s packaging is a plain cardboard box with a large sticker of the speaker infront. Those are the corners JBL would cut not on the amp speakers or housing.

W-King X20 is super loud but sounds better outdoor than in door. Check out Harmon Kardon’s eBay page they own JBL and sell new and factory refurbished JBL speakers at a discount with manufacturers warranties. Reviews say they are basically brand new speakers. Look at the Partybox series you can get a JBL Encore or 110 on sale for $250 or less and they will sound 10x bigger than a Boom 2. Stay away from the Partybox-on-the-go it’s the only Partybox that’s weak and shitty. The rest of the models are superb.

The party box will always sound fuller especially the higher the volume and you’ll hear the bass from further away. It really depends on your use case though. If you need it to be rugged and have long battery life the boombox is your best bet. You can fashion a shoulder strap for it I did on my OG boombox. It performs its best with a lot of hard surfaces near it like cement floors, walls. Not so good in wide open outdoor spaces. For wide open spaces party boxes are the answer. I have a BB1 and an Xtreme 2. Both together I can get away with about 10ish people being loud and about 30 feet away in open space BBQing at the park before it’s noticeably weaker than I want it to be. This can be good if you don’t want to disturb people around you though. I’m thinking of getting a Partybox 120 if it goes on sale.

I highly recommend a JBL boombox 2 or 3. I have the first generation and it’s great. If you want to save money go for the Tribit Storm Box Blast. For fully water proof those are the best options. They will all definitely be loud enough. If you want louder and don’t care about water proofing go for the jbl Partybox series.

Look for a new or refurbished JBL Partybox and avoid the Partybox on the go model and you will be happy. Check out Harmon Kardon’s eBay page they own JBl and sell their speakers new and factory refurbished. For that much you could get a Partybox 110 either new or refurbished for a few bucks less. If you don’t want JBL then check out the W-King X20. It’s the loudest non Partybox you can get around that price point. It’s really loud and heavy AF for its size.

Does it have to be water proof? Are you planning on taking it out or keeping it inside the house or both? Do you want huge sound or background music or the ability for both. If it’s large sound JBL partyboxes are king. If you want to keep it portable. I suggest a JBL Boombox. If it’s just for inside the house and you aren’t planning on loud music the Harmon Kardon go + play 3 is great or a JBL authentic 300 or 500.

Singa made a video during Halloween where they featured a JBL: [https://youtube.com/shorts/tHW6meQfqIA](https://youtube.com/shorts/tHW6meQfqIA) They seem to be using the JBL PartyBox with microphones. I have used this myself and you just have to connect the Partybox through Bluetooth to your TV! No need for a mixer. I think Ultimate works in the same way. Then download the karaoke app on your TV or have it through a laptop that you connect with HDMI.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

If you sprung for the Omnis Duo you might as well get a Wave-Eight. It will sound 1000× better than any dinky little Bluetooth speaker like that. Ok, but now that I've fully read your post (lol sorry) I would probably recommend one of the smaller JBL party boxes, assuming they have the daisy chain input/function. Edit: Sadly the Partybox Encore does not appear to have the daisy chain input. Unfortunate.

DJs • Looking for small portable speaker with no aux... ->

McCrackenYouUp • 7 months ago

Some speakers like the JBL Partybox have their own processing going on so there's a slight delay. The nice thing about the Partybox is that in addition to your typical aux input it also has a daisy chain input. The daisy chain input circumvents the JBL processing and allows the mixer to do it instead, but then it's also just on at the highest level and the master on the mixer is what controls the volume. So yeah, your speaker is probably doing some kind of processing that affects the latency of what actually comes out.

I have em. Sound is ok at best. Fine for some background music while working on something the garage/driveway, but almost no bass, and not loud enough for any sort of gathering. For a fraction of the cost, a decent Bluetooth speaker would be MUCH better, and more useful for life in general.

I just don’t see the value in the tailgate speakers. They’re ok at best in my opinion. Not very loud, not much bass, rarely useful, and WAY overpriced at $800. The sub sounds excellent and I use it daily, so I’m very pleased with that purchase. But if I had it to do over again, I’d get something like a portable JBL party box over the tailgate speakers, which is half the price, 5x the sound power and clarity, and portable making it useful in many other situations beyond when I’m within listening distance of my tailgate.

gmcsierra • Multi pro tailgate speakers ->

BillyStuart • 4 months ago

As another commenter mentioned, about the only positive is the wow factor when showing off your truck. But any time spent using these will likely lead you to disappointment. I seriously can’t recommend the sub enough though. It’s not overpowering like a sound system from my teenage days, but compliments the existing stereo perfectly with just the right amount of bass, while the custom designed enclosure fits the truck perfectly and still creates a bit of storage space. Get the sub and a party box Bluetooth instead of the multipro and you’ll be pleased all the way around.

Soundboks works great. I'm in a traveling baseball team, and every team has speakers. Most of the speakers don't impress me. JBL PartyBox is a good option entry level with good sound quality and budget friendly. Different size options and different budget options as well. Soundboks seems to be the best option out there, but pricing seems a bit steep. You get the loudest DB in battery-powered speakers I can find with the loudest highs and bass. The sound quality is excellent. Bose S1 Pro I'm highly impressed with it. The output and size from such a small package it's really sounds impressive all around, definitely a winner in sound quality. Other than the 3 mentioned, either I haven't discovered another good portable battery-powered speaker option, or they're not impressive enough for me to research and look them up. So, for now, these 3 are my personal recommendations. If anyone has some additional input or recommendations, I'd love to see them. It is always good to know other options in the future.

There are a few ways you can go, really depends on budget and how deep you want to go and what your space is like. The gym I go to just has one of those Bluetooth party speakers which works fine, it's a smaller space and fills it okay. If I was setting up my own space and I'd do something more substantial but I'm a bit of an audio nerd. You can get some stereo amplifiers and in ceiling speakers would be the ideal setup. The size of your space is going to dictate how many speakers you need but you could consult with a local audio installer or post some more specifics for better advice. It ultimately comes down to your space and your budget, or just keep it simple and use a Bluetooth speaker like the JBL partybox.

For practicing at home: even small 3" bookshelfs suffice like a Presonus Eris 3.5. The point is there must be relevant bass as low as about 80hz. For parties: get a good partybox which does have a non DSP input (so it does not cause delay) and has a line level output for the Presonuses you bring for monitoring :) (as you cannot connect monitors to the FLX4)

If you input through the daisy chain there's no delay. I run two of these for my mobile setup. Hardest part is splitting the audio to mono aux left and right, otherwise stereo will play out of both. I use RCA into a RCA to Aux converter.

PioneerDJ • Good speakers for mixing at home/small p... ->

I just use regular RCA cables as long as I need, which keeps it simple and cheap and then have two adapters at the partybox into port. I don't know where I got mine, but linked is the same thing. I haven't run a party with this setup yet, but I've tested it at home. I think the only thing I've noticed is that the output is quieter per speaker. I can't tell if this is because the mono signal only fires out of one side of the speaker or if splitting the left and right makes it inherently quieter. Still loud enough to use. Here's the problem. The Partybox will sound better and have deeper bass, but the Soundboks will get about 2-3x louder. A lot of this depends how much area you need to cover. Also the Partybox might be a stretch at 10 hours as it will probably be running closer to full blast, although a power bank could help it last longer. I generally say if it's under 50 people then the Partybox is fine, otherwise go for the Soundboks or another option from here https://www.speakerranking.com/portable-party-speakers/ Check out the ranking of nearly every single Bluetooth speaker and the best EQ tuning for each of them [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/WirelessSpeakers/comments/16zs2ol/ranking_all_battery_powered_wireless_speakers/)

wpuld say either harbinger vari or JBL partybox, JBL is gonna have a more complete sound out of the box but you'll be able to upgrade down the line with the harbinger to have a subwoofer, and maybe a second PA. even so, outdoor parties with 300 guests means that you're not gonna fill the whole space at your budget, but maybe that's not what you really needed. if you're planning on going bigger/more professional, get that 2000W PA and start saving. If not, the partybox will be just fine.
