I just got this speaker to replace my SoundCore Boom 2 pro and idk I think I was expecting more rumble from a speaker this size, even with the price aside.. and no app support, but when I tried to use Poweramp eq to boost the sub bass, the speaker started to distort. I mean even bass aside, it's a very quiet speaker for its size. Was I tripping buying this thing or is there a trick on Android I'm missing?
Mannnnn I should've just got another SoundCore. I haven't used JBL since around the time the charge 5 launched. But my SoundCore randomly went out so I needed a replacement. Alright. Guess I'll return it and go get the Sony xv500 but I really wanted a portable speaker that was sold in stores, because I don't wanna have to wait for online shipments, and returning is that much harder. IDK maybe I'll keep looking. But this one is definitely being returned tomorrow. The SoundCore I had was 140w and I just found out this one is only 50w unplugged. That's such bs. A 50w speaker that's half the size of my current tower speaker.
Don't think you're "missing" anything... The PB OTG ESS just isn't an amazing speaker-- I've heard most of JBL's lineup and the Encore / Encore Essential are much better. IIRC according to FCC filings the OTG is actually built with "off the shelf" parts from Eastech while I believe most other JBL's have somewhat custom parts.
Please note that the PARTYBOX is in a completely different category compared to the CHARGE5. If you're looking to **fill a large room or outdoor space with loud sound & bass, I'd definitely go for the PARTYBOX (JBL advertises the PARTYBOX to fill a tennis-court sized space indoors or outdoors)** especially since you already have UE BOOM for portable usage. The CHARGE5 is going to be an excellent & noticeable upgrade to your UE BOOM (and so will the CHARGE6, also going for \~30% off depending on location) but it's still a medium-sized portable speaker-- as far as I'm aware, there's no moores law or anything of the sort in the speaker industry: we've generally been getting & using the same principles to build transducers for nearly a century now. If you're looking for a good in-between option, the new BOOMBOX4 gets just as loud as the PARTYBOX CLUB 120 (albiet with some noticeable distortion on select tracks) but lacks the mic/guitar inputs: in exchange you get much better durability (IP68 vs IPX4).
JBL is hard to beat. I’ve had and tried soooo many and pound for pound the JBL Partybox on the go is amazing.
There's also the Partybox On The Go. It's smaller but still.pretty loud. Also comes with a microphone and you can find affordable second party duffle bags that are made specifically for it.
I had a flip 4 for years my buddy bought a boombox and I was blown away by it, but I wanted to one up him so I got the partybox on the go and it’s been the perfect living room speaker
I just bought the JBL party box essential 79.99 at ross
Hello, personally for the same use as you I took a JBL PartyBox essential when I want big sound and otherwise for when I travel I took a Sony ult field 5 which costs less than 300 euros! I have a reloop mixtour pro controller and an iPad and I'm on djay pro
Don’t fall victim to to the ai hate. I have had multiple JBL speakers throughout the years from charge 3 and charge 4 to party boxes and have never had any trouble with any of them. If there is any truth to the fires it probably fake shit you buy off of temu
