We use the JBL party box that Sam’s Club carries. It goes on sale a couple of times a year and comes with a couple microphones. It’s small enough to easily carry or pop in the wagon and it has no business being as loud as it is.

Et la Boombox 4 fait largement mieux
Depends on how portable you want this to be. A local DJ rolls a couple of JBL Partybox speakers to an outdoor event and they sound great. The trick is really to have more than one and kinda point them in the area you want. But these are pretty big and are usually not discreet.
There are smaller ones that are boombox sized like the Anker Soundcore Boom plus series. ( Note the plus as they are 140W ). They are not as loud but usually enough if you have a smaller crowd.
