JBL - Xtreme 2

I have a JBL Extreme 2 and metal is brutal with it. The sound is clear and crisp I’m very happy with it. It’s probably YouTube quality

Stormbox blast 2 that I have has very good bass.. it's under your price point.. can't really suggest anything else because besides a jbl extreme 2 that's all I have... the jbl has no bass compared to the stormbox.. again it's a extreme 2.. not 4.

The Xtreme 2 is better than the 3 for half the price

You might consider getting two UBOOM L for that price and I'm only judging by my experience. I have jbl charge 3 and jbl xtreme 2. Xtreme is just way too bassy to be a comfortable listen indoors and I don't really use it outdoors as much as I thought I would. So I barely ever use it. On the other hand two speakers in a stereo mode are incomparably better listening experience than one speaker. My guess is that you would mostly be using the speaker in the apartment so you won't be going crazy with bass and volume because of your neighbours so I feel like even if you got the bigger speaker you wouldn't be using it to its potential. In addition to that a smaller speaker can be easily dropped into a pocket or a small bag with other stuff. Larger one isn't really that convenient to take around. Anyway that was my line of thinking. I just ordered two UBOOM L because my JBLs can't play on battery any longer

Xtreme series has never been good audio wise imo in the jbl lineup, except it's durability and portability with its shoulder strap, if you're comparing sound per dollar I'm pretty sure there are better sounding wired speakers than the wking too, so it's all about a matter of tradeoffs you're willing to have for speakers. The xtreme 4s main selling point is definitely it's better build quality, and hence higher production costs, however JBL is definitely making a much larger profit off their speakers than wking which is a much smaller company with less advertising, and misc costs like packaging
