People is saying the opposite but i had the same experience. It loses all of its bass past 70% and the overall detail and clarity is not as good as on the Charge 5, strangely, and it doesn't even sound THAT loud.

Well, i had a JBL Charge 5 and a JBL Xtreme 3 and the difference in terms of bass was definetly noticeable, on the Xtreme 3 you could feel the bass and it was definetly deeper, though the Max volume difference wasn't THAT Big and actually, for overall sound quality (not focused on bass) i looked more the Charge 5. I see you are mainly looking for bass and some reviewers say that the Xtreme 3 has deeper bass than the Xtreme 4, but the Xtreme 4 has more definition and clarity in the mids and highs.

I found a JBL extreme 3 for $187 renewed on Amazon, it has an EQ so you can mess around with that to your taste and if it doesn’t turn out good, you can return it https://a.co/d/3uWjFFT

You say the build quality is great, but it looks like plastic. Is it rubber and can it take a drop like JBL for example. Have been looking to switch but I travel a lot and need something durable. I have had my Xtreme 3 since launch and it is still going strong after countless camping trips and hard drops on cement. They both just bounce and nothing is wrong. If the cover breaks, you can even replace it. Is it durable rubber or plastic?

Would perhaps you care to specify the exact specs of the speakers and the amp? I got the Flip 6 recently which is pretty much identical to the Flip 7 sound wise and I was vastly disappointed with its' outdoors capacity. It is a small room/apartment speaker at most. The Charge 5/6 delivers great performance/portability ratio. The Xtreme 3 was a huge letdown outdoors as well, you just expect more from a speaker of that size. I never owned a Boombox but from what I read it is a huge upgrade on the Xtreme. So if size/portability is secondary to you - don't cheap out and get the Boombox. If portability is important go with the Charge 6.

Best waterproof with aesthetics and great sound included are generally jbl's. A charge 5 you can maybe find for 100$ sometimes, going bigger would be the xtremes, and while those are not that much more powerful than the charge 5, the bass hits deeper and have a wider soundstage as well as carry strap if you're into that But yeah, for 200$, you can maybe find an xtreme 3, but while the xtreme 3 looks better than the 4(in my oppinion) it's worth it to go for the xtreme 4 for something over 200$ as it has removeable battery Charge 5 is waterproof, relatively cheap with the quality it provides and rugged af so it should satisfy you

Xtreme 3 is a bit underwhelming. I still keep it since it is so easy to carry around, and it sounds good enough. It sounds clear, but not that balanced.

Jbl extreme 3 or 4, I’m a little biased because I’ve had my 3 for 4 years and it has been through hell with me crashing on various things at over 35 mph and it’s still waterproof and still works good. The 4 is newer but the 3 has a rubber flap to cover the charge port and usb port and aux jack, the 4 only has a c type and it does not accept audio, so you can only charge devices from the port and charge the speaker, sorry for the ramble but the extreme 3 is great and I haven’t found a speaker the outperforms it for my needs and taste

I found my mates charge 5 sound OK but it is not comparison to my xtreme 3 as the xtreme plays lower with more bass and it goes a lot louder unless it is just my xtreme but it gets almost as loud as my boombox 2

But the battery has zero cycles, I don’t think an aged battery is a huge issue. I have an extreme 3 that is 4 years old and still holds a 12 hour battery.

For under $300 I’d say the Bose SoundLink Flex or the Sonos Roam are probably the best balance of sound quality, durability and ease of use. Both pairs instantly feel premium, and the battery life is solid. If you want something tougher for outdoors, JBL Xtreme 3 is a tank and still sounds great tbh.

If you want a portable speaker with bass try the jbl Xtreme 3 or 4 they are amazing on bass and it's noticeable and of you really want a portable speaker with heavy bass for a portable speaker get the boombox 3 I have the jbl Xtreme 4 and boombox 3 and my boombox has a lot more bass compared to my Xtreme 4

My oppinion is that the extra price really goes towards its quality. Be it charge, flip or xtreme, after some 2 years or more it won't look outdated, it'll still sound great for its size cathegory and though you might get a relatively cheap price for it if you sold it it definately wouldn't be as cheap as almost all of the other brands, and if you still keep it you'll get back to that quality of theirs that they still look amazing and sound great for their size cathegory This is what i came to realise after 2 years of xtreme 3. Costs a lot but if i am to buy other speakers i'll go with jbl because they're super rugged, reliable and lasting

In my opinion Marshall have clearer sound and you can set bass and trebble Separately. Jbl only have vol +/- But beside that both of them are pretty similar. I will take jbl because its cheaper, i bought marshall only because it was on sale. I dont regret because sound good and look really awasome, i love it. But its not huge difference between those 2

I just got the Xtreme 3 for Chrismas and the first couple of days I wasn't a big fan. I wondered if my Charge 4 (which i have used for 3 or 4 years now) is better. But those doubts passed once I got used to the bass. I used it at 2 partys and everyone tought it's so much better + it's a lot louderthe only thing that bothers me now is a kind of white noise while the music is playing. I mean the noise is really quiet but when I'm alone in my room and the volume is down I can hear it and I'm not a big fan. Otherwise I find it great for partys or when you're outside, so if you like listening music with your friends it's a good choice, BUT if you're gonna listen only at home when you're by yourself I consider the Charges 4 and 5 a better option moneywise

Depends on what you mean portable is, if its puting it in a backpack, then the max size is the charge 6, but you can probably find a charge 5 for way cheper, and it's almost just as good. If you mean portable as in cary it or just move it from place to place you can find xtreme 4 or 3 and they are better but you can't just put it in a back pack it will take up alot of space, also depends where you are you can find an xtreme 4 for the price od a charge 5 like at target they have some models in Clarence and they are a steal legit.

The original JBL Xtreme is hands down the best portable speaker I've ever owned. If you're looking for bass, JBL speakers are the way to go, just don't go below the Xtreme model if you want bass. I've had every model from the Flip to the Boombox. The smaller ones sound great and get decently loud, but they lack the bass that the Xtreme delivers. The Boombox 3 (without Wi-Fi, with an AUX port) has the best bass, but it's not very portable. The Xtreme strikes the perfect balance between sound quality and portability. Xtreme 2 removed the second USB-A charging port but improved the strap and stand design. Xtreme 3 has slightly better sound quality than the X1 and X2. However, its battery was downgraded from 10,000mAh to 6,800mAh. It adds a USB-C port that can serve as a second charger and play audio. The stand is nearly nonexistent, but the strap retains the improved X2 design. Xtreme 4 features a removable 9,444mAh battery and an improved stand but removes the AUX port, meaning you're stuck with SBC codec over Bluetooth. Xtreme 1 models are rare these days, but if you get an Xtreme 2, you can use a USB hub to charge multiple devices. If battery life isn't a concern, the Xtreme 3 is a solid choice, especially if you can find it at a good price. I just picked up a lightly used one for $80.

I have a few Ankers for small Bluetooth speakers. Good quality on mid level volume. Great battery life. Cheap price is a plus to toss in a toolbox. I have a JBL xtreme 3 for larger area and louder volume. Great battery life. Both are ip67 rated so pretty hardy. Never used the Milwaukee.

One of my coworkers has a charge 5 that he uses at work, and it's fine enough for real-world loud kitchen environment. I have an extreme 3 and now 4, which is what I use, and it can get just loud enough while still being good sounding. I ALSO have a Boombox 3, 110 and 2 710 which are all just too big to take to work. I feel like the boombox would be the best speaker to have if you can only have 1 speaker but for my purposes is the least used one.

Play them at the same volume indoors. The xtreme will destroy it. The bass is deeper but not powerful enough to be noticeable outdoors. The charge 5 plays upper bass frequencies which are easily heard in almost any environment even outdoors. Deep bass needs hard surfaces to bounce off or more power to hear it out in the open. It’s really just a logistics issue with size and power and what frequencies it plays because the boombox doesn’t have this issue since it’s more bigger and powerful.

With smaller size and price you get smaller output and bass. That's how it works sadly😅 Tribit stormbox blast 2 or blast 1 are almost the same size as the boombox, so in terms of portability it will probably be the same, same with the boom 2 plus. If you want a mid size speaker, you can get either the soundcore boom 2 / bose soundlink max / jbl xtreme 4 (preferably xtreme 3) But i'm telling you in advance, they can't produce the same thump and deep bass as the boombox 2. Unfortunately size has limitations.

Then i would honestly go for the middle and get the jbl xtreme 3. Xtreme 4 might be above your budget unless you find something close to 300. I had the xtreme 3, i really enjoy the sound, and the bass doesn't dissappoint.

ahh ookay. Im also seeing another really good one called "Anker soundboom motion x600" in the same price range as the xtreme 3. Both of them are under 2kg, good enough portable And theres also the sonos era 100 if i really stretch my budget and its 3kgs - I think these are shaping up to be my final options based on good, loud speakers that are worth the price

Yeah, realistically that isn't going to happen, replacing 10 speakers with 1-3 is tough as it is, much less when those 10 speakers were designed for the space they are in and those 1-3 are jammed into an enclosure with the amp and battery in a single unit... I mean the closest you will get is a one of the big JBL Party Boxes which honestly isn't very portable at like 75 pounds and 45 inches tall, not to mention they run a grand or so. If you just want decent sound quality -AND- portability the JBL Flip, Charge, or even the Extreme series are pretty decent, but for high end quality you are going to be going well over the $500 mark... KEF, Bowers & Wilkens, Sonos, etc. And Bose... Yeah, I am not a huge fan... I would take the Infinity system in my Hyundai over it in a heartbeat for sound quality.
