I've gone thru countless BT speakers, from JBL Extreme 2,3. UE Megaboom, Hyperboom. Soundcore Motion Plus. Sony XB43. All were non keepers and were sold or one that was sub par was given away. Oh yeah, Marshall Kilburn 3 too. I have one now, the Sony ULT 5 its the only speaker that 100% percent sound balanced. Its plenty loud and can bring it with bass, clarity. I don't even use the Ult 1 or 2 features as I find it bass heavy already its in standard sound mode. I clearly as you can tell love it. Edit, well you can't get one for 150, but there are refurbished ones on ebay for 83 shipped.

Look into marshall speakers. I can confirm the kilburn 3 has 0 aux lag, it was a requirement for me too (djing).

I bought the Marshall Kilburn III recently and I’m extremely happy with it. Hi-fi leaning, detail oriented sound with phenomenal bass tone and warm mids. I have read that it continues to sound good even at high or low volumes, but I have mostly played it 30-45% volume, so I can’t fully vouch. It also has 50 hours of battery life. I have used it every day at work this week, and a little at home, and I am only down to about 70 percent battery life. The battery is removable and replaceable if it ever has problems. It is not waterproof, but it advertises splash resistance. Plus, it has actual buttons and knobs, and it looks cool. Beautiful, in a way, which is a plus in an ugly, minimalist world. P.S., it can be used as a power bank to charge your phone. I have been raving to my family and friends about it. It’s early, but I think that it is some of the best $300 I’ve ever spent.

I had Xtreme 4 and was between Sony ULT7 or Bose Soundlink Max, the JBL sound was not so good in highs with bass just average. After testing my top options somehow ended up with a review of Marshall Kilburn III and the great low end bass, purchased it and can’t look back, indoors or outdoors for my ears it’s just perfect. When we have guests now they ask me about this speaker, my brother just bought it was well. Every person will have different opinions, Sony felt more alive and party mode for outdoors but not like Marshall that you can feel the music.

Was looking for a Bluetooth speaker to use in the backseat of my vintage car. The Marshall obviously fits with the aesthetic. Have you tested it in a car with the windows down? How does it sound? How does it handle talking, like podcasts or audiobooks?

ha! Thanks dude. I ended up buying it. Used it last week. It's a little bass heavy, but if I tweak the treble up and bass down it sounds good while cruising on the freeway with the windows down going around 70mph. The Porsche only has a single speaker in the dash and it's terrible. I don't listen to anything when driving the car other than the engine. Good time to just relax and think. But when I'm driving an hour plus on the freeway it's nice to have something to keep me company

> marshell middleton Middleton is around 4 lbs. Good looking speaker but I like the bigger Killburn 3 best of all the Marshalls. A pair of speakers will deliver the most 3d "stereo" but is not necessarily convenient for travel and use on the go. Tribit Lava is popular budget 5lb speaker. Soundcore Boom2 is more compact and also sounds good for the size. Soundcore Motion x600 has "spatial audio" feature that might bounce the sound a bit.

If you can, go to a local Best Buy and listen to them yourself. I was set on a Bose sound link max but ended up going with the Marshall Klifton 3. Again personal preference but for me the bass and sound out of the Marshall > Bose.

I have been very happy with the Marshall Kilburn 3, best Bluetooth speaker I have used so far.
