The speaker I use for similar purposes (mostly listening to audiobooks rather than podcasts) is the Oontz Angle Solo (currently $25 but goes on sale for $20). I like how its triangular shape makes it sit steadily on softer surfaces such as a bed or chair or car seat. The little speakers that balance on a thin edge can’t sit on surfaces like that without falling over. I don’t feel that its sound quality is good enough for listening to music, but it does great with spoken word sources.
In general, mini Bluetooth speakers have truly come a long way... and if course innovation us synonymous with the Bose brand.. for me, tne speaker that truly surprised me the first time I heard it was the Cambridge Soundworks Oontz. The bass response for a speaker that small was PHENOMENAL!!
Cambridge Audio makes different levels of OontZ portable Bluetooth speakers (great sound, terrible name). They can be bridged for stereo sound.
Any model of the Oontz by Cambridge Soundworks...all hold up extreme well and sound great
