"I just ordered and received one and it's been the worst out of box experience I've ever had. ... The minimal quick start and lights on the device didn't match the documentation and it went downhill from there. ... It wouldn't connect to the app, then I eventually got it connected manually and it wouldn't play because it needed an update. ... Of course the update would fail to install every time. ... I spent an hour with support to learn that the battery needed to be at a minimum charge level to update. ... The device doesn't have a way to determine the state of charge without using the app, and won't connect to the app if the charge state is too low. ... In retrospect a simple "charge this device for several hours before attempting to setup and use" in the box would have solved all my issues. ... If it was just off and completely dead I would have figured it out quickly, but it actually displayed lights and gave the appearance that something was working at first and started to pair with the app for a bit. ... It wouldn't play the sound to identify the speaker so I had to manually enter the number as an alternative."

"can’t seem to get them to connect to my system. Keeps telling me they need to update and I get an error. I’ve been on the phone with support twice now doing all kinds of things to try and fix them. Apparently they are sending an email with info to return them within the next two business days."

I bought this and received it a few days ago. Plugged it in to numerous USB bricks trying to charge it but repeatedly got the red flashing light. It would boot up but kept getting a 1002 error when trying to update. Sat it on my Pixel Stand wireless charger for a bit then plugged it in to a ~95 watt Apple laptop charger. That seemed to get it working. Once I got it set up I don't have issues charging it.

Great bathroom and patio speaker on a budget. Also nice accent speaker for another large room that has Sonos in it. I use mine by the grill during when I’m moving between the house and patio.

I was able to get one on open box at $50, and am happy with it to throw in for trips etc. worth keeping an eye on it!

I just ordered and received one and it's been the worst out of box experience I've ever had. I order a lot of cheap junk electronics too. I already had a Sonos account, app, and a working speaker. The minimal quick start and lights on the device didn't match the documentation and it went downhill from there. It wouldn't connect to the app, then I eventually got it connected manually and it wouldn't play because it needed an update. Of course the update would fail to install every time. I spent an hour with support to learn that the battery needed to be at a minimum charge level to update. I used several known good chargers without success, using the cable provided. Finally after seeing someone else have success with a high output charger I plugged it into a Thunderbolt dock and after an hour or so it came to life and started charging. The device doesn't have a way to determine the state of charge without using the app, and won't connect to the app if the charge state is too low. In retrospect a simple "charge this device for several hours before attempting to setup and use" in the box would have solved all my issues. If it was just off and completely dead I would have figured it out quickly, but it actually displayed lights and gave the appearance that something was working at first and started to pair with the app for a bit. It wouldn't play the sound to identify the speaker so I had to manually enter the number as an alternative. Support had me load the PC app and the diagnostic there was the first indication to me that it wasn't charged enough and that was a problem even if it was plugged into power. It's late and I've barely even listened to it yet. TLDR: If you get one plug it in and charge it for a few hours before trying to use it.

I just bought two from this deal, can’t seem to get them to connect to my system. Keeps telling me they need to update and I get an error. I’ve been on the phone with support twice now doing all kinds of things to try and fix them. Apparently they are sending an email with info to return them within the next two business days. It’s a real bummer, my experience with Sonos has been awesome up until now.

Similar boat here, my two won’t hold a charge so I can’t reset them and won’t connect to the app.

I do not have any issues with my Roam SL. Mostly use it when I go outdoor via Bluetooth but also use it as a spare house speaker when we do stuff out of the Sonos ecosystem range (yard, driveway etc). Has not experienced any hardware issue since I bought it in 2021.

I have one and it’s OK for the bathroom - I wouldn’t suggest you buy one as there are better alternatives…like the IKEA version (picture frame etc), which sound a little better and blend in with your rooms

Mine sucks. It is an expensive Bluetooth speaker with poor sound quality. Most of the time, it will not connect to our WiFi.

It’s OK. Takes a long time to connect to my phone via Bluetooth. I have a $30 Tribit (NYT Wirecutter recommendation) that sounds as good or better and connects instantly.

I got one but it’s the worst Sonos product I own. Sound is ok, not great. I have to connect via Bluetooth as airplay stopped working. It’s fine for a shower speaker but I wouldn’t buy another.

No . Mine. The SL version is micless so no auto. And no I don't think a mic enabled one would work for other devices.

Lately, I had the chance to review several Bluetooth speakers for skiing and snowboarding, and I thought it would be helpful to share my thoughts with the Reddit community. Here’s a quick guide on what to consider before buying: * **Portability**: You’ll want a lightweight, compact speaker. * **Durability**: Look for waterproof and dustproof features. * **Sound Quality**: Make sure it delivers clear audio, even outdoors. * **Battery Life**: Long-lasting power for extended trips is a must. * **Connectivity**: Bluetooth range and stability are key when you're on the move. Now, here are some great options: 1. **JBL Clip 4** - The JBL Clip 4 is a solid choice for skiing and snowboarding. Its compact size and built-in carabiner make it easy to clip onto your gear, while its IP67 rating ensures it can handle snow and dust. The sound is surprisingly rich for such a small speaker, with clear highs and decent bass. You can expect around 10 hours of battery life, making it perfect for a full day on the slopes. It’s a rugged, no-fuss option for anyone wanting music on their outdoor adventures. 2. **Sonos Roam** - If you're into smart features along with great sound, the Sonos Roam is an excellent pick. It’s durable, with an IP67 rating, making it ideal for snowboarding or skiing. What sets it apart is its ability to connect to Wi-Fi at home and Bluetooth on the go. The sound is well-balanced, and it integrates with Alexa or Google Assistant if you’re into voice control. The only downside is that setting it up can be a bit frustrating, but once it’s going, it’s a fantastic speaker for the slopes. 3. **Sony SRS-XB13** - For those on a budget, the Sony SRS-XB13 delivers great value. It’s compact and easy to carry, thanks to its included strap. The sound is clear and packs some extra bass, although it doesn’t handle low-bass as well as pricier models. With up to 16 hours of battery life, this speaker can last you through long sessions on the mountain. It’s also IP67 waterproof, so snow is no problem, making it a reliable, affordable choice for outdoor adventures. The above are the best to my opinion today. If you want to see more options, and compare features per budget range, you can take a look at this page of [best Bluetooth speaker for skiing and snowboarding](https://requiremints.com/guide/best-bluetooth-speakers-skiing-&-snowboarding/). I help the team there in reviewing Bluetooth speakers. In any case, if you have questions or need advice on a particular model, please feel free to comment here. Good luck #
