I really like listening to electronic music with dark synth, goth rock, witchhouse, industrial, sometimes metal, hyperpop, ethereal music, shoegaze - and other times like singer-songwriters. I will mostly be using the speaker in my house like my bedroom and at my PC. I like listening to music like all day though. I had a UE Megaboom 2 I was happy with for many years, it broke though. Now I want a replacement and my budget is $30-$70 and I'll probably get it used. I ordered a Sony SRS-XB23 and returned it because I didn't think it sounded as good as my old Megaboom. I've looked at JBL flip 6, and Tribit Xsound go, or a Wonderboom. What would be a good speaker?

Sony’s XB23 sounds RIGHT up ur alley bro.. im bout to pull the trigger on that I think for 60 bucks off amazon… I have always been biased towards Sony electronics tho ever since I was a kid. They just make quality, reliable, and affordable hardware for the money imo. Not too cheap but not super expensive. You get a lot of bang for ur buck with Sony and they don’t price gouge with the name like some brands do like JBL for instance

I’ve I received this product for free from LG for review purposes. This is not a paid post, and all thoughts and opinions are my own. I've had the LG xboom Bounce for about 2 weeks now and I've used it extensively to give an honest review and my experience with it. First off, the design. I really like it. It’s not too small and not too large but keeps enough size to fit in good drivers, something you need to get good sound. It’s light enough that you can easily just pick it up and carry it with you. It’s IP67 rated so usage outside and at a beach, is no problem and the battery life is great. All the buttons are up top and USB-C at the back for charging. There is a band on the back of it for easier carrying, nice touch I got to say. The only thing about the design I don’t like is the feet. They have 2 smaller rubber dots on each foot that makes it feel a little wobbly. The feet should’ve just been flat in my opinion. There is a light strip at the bottom of the front side, see the pictures, which is adjustable through the LG ThinQ App. You can also adjust EQ and other settings. I’ve just set it to bass boost because I like a little extra bounce (pun intended) in the sound. The important question, how does the LG xboom Bounce sound? I want to start out by saying I'm no audiophile. I love music and good sound but I'm not super picky. I’ve used it every day for about 2 weeks now, extensive usage for at least a few hours every day. I’ve listened to all kinds of music, podcasts, audiobooks, for gaming on my PC as an external speaker and for watching youtube videos and streams. The sound, it’s punchy while still being clear so you feel the bass and still hear the vocals clearly. I’ve listened to a lot of old school rap like 50 cent, Eninem and Akon. You can really feel the bass when those low frequenzy notes hit in these kinds of songs. It’s the same thing in Linkin Parks Numb/Encore where you both feel the heavy notes hit while still clearly hearing the singing from both Jay-Z and Linkin park. I’ve also tried more pop/slower beat kind of songs like listening to Ed Sheeran, Alex Warren and even HUNTR/X “Golden”. Making the Korens at LG proud with this one. Honestly, I don’t have anything major to complain about. I’ve thrown everything I can at this thing and to my ears, it has passed with flying colours. The only small complaint I have is that the sound seems to lose some punch when you move too far away from the speaker and it loses detail at high volumes. Nothing major in my opinion, it’s still an awesome speaker. As I said earlier, I've also used it for audiobooks on Audible currently listening to “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir and I have no complaints. The narrator is easy to hear and there is no weird distorting sound from bad drivers or speakers. Surprised that it works so good for narration as well. I’ve used it for gaming on the PC (you can see in one of the pictures) currently playing Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and it really brings out the music and sound effects of this already beautiful looking game. Great sound truly does add to the whole experience. No complaints for this kind of usage. How is it compared to other speakers I've had? I’ve had a Sony SRS-XB23, see the picture, that I've used for almost 3 years now and the xboom Bounce is just better in every way. The sound is so much better, the fact it sits down in landscape (i prefer this since the Sony must stand up), battery, the design and just general build quality is better. The only advantage the Sony has is that it’s lighter and easier to carry. It’s time to retire this one and change up to the Bounce. To summarize, I'm pleasantly surprised by how this pretty light and somewhat small speaker can deliver such punch and sound. I like the design, easy to carry and it has great battery. Really everything I need from this kind of speaker. I’m very happy with this one and it will get a lot of usage going forward. I want to clarify I won this product in an event and it was provided by LG but all opinions are my own.

Thank you! My mom tends to clean when stressed and sometimes puts random stuff like her old XB-23 and MY XB-33 in places so random as a result. Now they just feel like fun little easter eggs I stumble across like earlier lol. She didn’t want hers so I just started trying to see what all they are capable of just now. I actually had just got the prompt and updated the 33 thinking nothing of it. This post is old but still was very helpful and informative despite that fact! Little late to the party but I appreciate it :)
