TL;DR: Budget king for loud, deep bass; bulky with harsh mids.

The EarFun UBOOM X has slightly deeper bass and better overall audio quality than the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus. Tribit StormBox Lava and Soundcore Boom 2 are both one size and performance class below the other two.

FWIW, I have used an Anker Soundcore Boom Plus for teaching an outdoor group of ~50 people and its sound was sufficient.

Just ordered a Boom 2 + so I’m glad to hear that at least I didn’t waste my money. It was a hard sell between it and the 2, I went with the + based on the reviews on Amazon but still kept second guessing myself.

Beautiful, I got it for when I’m working on my truck or wood and for chilling in the hot tub or bath so it sounds like this is exactly what I was looking for as I won’t even need to crank it up real loud. Many thanks, you have assuaged most of my worries.

I can recommend the Soundcore Boom 2 and Soundcore Boom 2+ I personally use 2x Boom 2 and 1x Boom 2+ for outdoor parties and they are enough for about 50 people. If the Boom 2+ is too big you can also use 3-4x Boom 2 spread around the dance floor. But honestly you can start with 2x Boom 2 and see if they suit your needs. A bit more expensive option are 2x Jbl Xtreme 4. However I don't think that they are in any way superior to the Soundcore Boom 2. The key is to have 2 or more of these medium size speakers spread around the dance floor.

The soundcore boom 2 is 45hz. The soundcore boom 2 plus is larger, but is 40hz.

The boom 2 is amazing for its size, but of course the boom 2 + is much louder

I was Gifted the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus this past Christmas and, thus far, it has had well reception from my friends and family. That being said, have you heard about the JBL Bandbox Trio that is currently accepting Pre-Orders? It’s been tempting, but I might just get the Solo given I have the Boom 2 Plus and it serves its purpose…at least, for now. Best of luck and happy hunting!
