"Changing the EQ makes the speaker sound amazing! ... It’s fantastic out of the box, but EQ’d it’s on another level for the price. ... It really pushes the sound outside of the speaker and makes it sound much so much fuller than you’d expect from a small speaker."
"has great sound when customization of equalizer in the app so you can tailor it to your needs as far as clarity and everything goes"
"has a 9 band eq"

"Although it is slightly larger than my idea size for a portable speaker ... It just won't fit in a small spot."
"I returned the boom 2 and keeping the 3i. The 3i can get plenty loud and the portability compared to boom 2 is night and day."

"do not buy a boom 2 at Walmart it looks the same but its internals are completely different. In other words it sucks."
"avoid the SE version. thats the walmart nerfed version down to 30w instead of the 80w that boom 2 has."

"Very mid forward, vocals are very enhanced, can sometimes sound a bit plasticy and artificial."
"Also got a boom 2 and sounds the same, no mids but decent bass"
Currently have the SE version and picked it up today. Didn’t know it was a thing. What in particular is wrong about it?
The SE model is 30 watts, and has no lights, and the speaker set up is completely different. Apparently with Walmarts buying power. They wanted a boom 2, but wanted it dirt cheap. So they got the SE. Then sometime later you could get it free at the Verizon stores. Its speaker set up is the same as the motion boom but doesn’t sound near as good, and that speaker is usually 60 bucks on sale on Amazon. The real boom 2 is 80 watts has a woofer and tweeter set up plus lights in the passive radiators. It’s got the bass! Also both sold for the same price. I have here lately seen the SE heavily reduced. I really like jamming out to it, but I guess there are a few that don’t like it. It gets loud as heck too.
Soundcore boom 2 will not disappoint. I do own one and it’s got bass it’s loud it’s something you can pump your fist too. But right now you can get the skull candy barrel XT for 80 at Walmart. I own one of them too and for 80 dollars you can’t beat it. If you wait to long it may go back to 170 dollars and for that price it’s a no go in my book. If you miss out on the XT get the boom2 but do not buy a boom 2 at Walmart it looks the same but its internals are completely different. In other words it sucks.
The soundcore boom 2 is a good one. Not sure what its cost is where you live. Flip 6 does have some bass. Both you mentioned are good choices.
Check out the soundcore boom 2. If you decide you like what you read just don’t buy it from Walmart.
Titles says it. Big Bladee listener here and want a good bluetooth speaker for this type of music (multi layered, sample & melody heavy) I bought a Soundcore Boom 2 SE and already returned it. Couldn’t hear a majority of the layers in the music as opposed to when listening with headphones. Sounded so muddy. (Should I have played with the EQ settings?) Thx for your expertise. If you aren’t familiar with Bladee or that type of music then need not reply :) [EXAMPLE TRACK 1](https://youtu.be/2pQ8HyuTwOg?si=CkOcbFTVlxXZxRAQ) [EXAMPLE TRACK 2](https://youtu.be/eQpQtg0JE-8?si=HqMmCxJTGy2kPQUq)
avoid the SE version. thats the walmart nerfed version down to 30w instead of the 80w that boom 2 has. check your local verizon store its on sale.
soundcore boom 2 is a basshead's bt speaker imo dont have to spend 400 sheesh
probably the best price to performance value boom box imo. btw dont listen to that other dude all he does is shill that same speaker on every post
out of your choices, the boom 2 is the most portable. small enough to pack into a backpack but still loud af with good bass. if portability isnt an issue than go for the boom 2 + since it has the most output.
i got the boom 2 bc it fits my specific needs of fitting on an expedit shelf (less than 12" wide) and backpack-able. it is my car stereo replacement and i take it to and from my car every day. i couldnt imagine doing this with a larger speaker.
i would just get a soundcore boom 2 and place it the passenger seat. dont put stuff on ur dash thats a driving hazard imo
i mentioned boom 2 bc it can get LOUD and overpower the road noise inside your car. youll hear a smaller speaker but with the ambient noise youll barely hear the bass. limitations of a smaller speaker.
I have a Motion Plus along with a bunch of other BT speakers. The Motion Plus is decent but I would get a pair of Earfun Uboom Ls for the most hifi experience. Motion Boom2 is in that $ range too.
A Pair of Earfun Uboom X speakers will deliver the best sound for that budget. Not the lightest boombox around but packs a punch and not as heavy as the Tribit Blast and & JBL Boombox. Harmon Kardon Go + play is highly rated and one of the best sounding portables in that $ range. You could get a pair of Earfun Uboom Ls or pair of Soundcore Boom 2s for under $200 that will deliver great sound on their own but really fill a room with a stereo pair.
I hear crickets. You can get a pair of Zealot ZE21's for a little over $300 that will get much louder than the Earfun UBoom x but the Zealots each weigh 15lbs more than the Earfuns.
Earfun UBoom X is loud and sounds good. Not too expensive, fits in a backpack. (9 lbs) Soundcore Boom 2 is lighter (3.6lbs.)
That is a good speaker and great value. Soundcore Boom 2 is a smaller & lighter option.
+1 on the Soundcore motion boom or Boom 2. The little Tribit cannot do real bass and these budget speakers from Soundcore will not disappoint. I have a couple of the little Tribit xSound Gos and a Motion plus that are great for the size but grab a bigger speaker when I want to thump some bass.
I am guessing it was little can sized Tribit Stormbox that is about the size of the JBL Flip. Look at the Soundcore Boom 2 for a good upgrade in output. A Tribit Lava would also be a decent upgrade.
Soundcore Boom2 will work well for a small group of people in a relatively quiet environment (Church) It gets pretty loud for how lightweight and compact it is. The other portable speaker I would consider is the Tribit Lava. It is a bump up in size and weight and bass output. (it is 2.3 kg. vs the 1.7 kg Boom2)
Lava is about the biggest speaker I would want to carry in a backpack but it is noticeably heavier than the flyweight Soundcore Boom 2. The main benefit of the bigger and heavier speakers is deeper more powerful bass.
I have a pair and think they are slick little boomboxes but the 4.15kg Uboom X is more than 2X as hefty as the 1.7 kg Soundcore Boom2. Not a bad choice at all but not flyweight boxes either. They do pack more of a punch for sure!
I would check out the new WKing x20s now that the Earfun Uboom X is no longer available. A stereo set would be rockin! The Soundcore Motion Boom2 is a safe bet for a lightweight portable. JBL Charge 6 is popular, seems well made to me but I think Soundcore and Tribit have products that give you more bang for the buck.
Yep, you are correct. It is a heavy unit. Even the Bose soundlink max is 2.22kg. Tribit Lava is 2.3kg. Best 2kg BT speaker is probably the good old Soundcore Boom2 and it is not as HIFI as the heavier speakers. Not sure why the OP needs a small/lightweight indoor speaker that is not getting moved around much but I use my 1kg Soundcore motion + for my non-critical indoor listening.
Soundcore Boom 2 is a lightweight 3.6lb compact speaker. The next big step up in output comes with the 8.3 lb Soundcore Boom 2 Plus and 9lb Earfun Uboom X . Original Tribit Blast V1 is 12lbs and can thump pretty hard too. Party speakers are giant plastic boxes that weigh over 20 lbs and not what I consider portable. I have a set of the cheap Onn Large Party speakers and although they put out more bass than my Earfun Uboom x boomboxes the Earfuns sound more hifi and are 1/3 the size and 1/2 the weight of the party monsters.
The Soundcore Booms are great speakers for the size and weight and really great when you factor in the cost. You may just want to grab a second one for parties and wider stereo. The next big step up is the Earfun Uboom X. Not as portable as a Motion Boom because of the extra weight but the bass output is unbeatable for the money. Sounds nice and you can EQ it to sound even better. I would love a Brane X for the small form factor and deep deep bass but $500 is not chump change! You can get a pair of Motion Boom 2 's for $140 and pair of Uboom X speakers for under $300.
Try the new firmware update for the Lava. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y2FyR2ZI-k](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y2FyR2ZI-k) The exaggerated deep bass on the Onyx is going to be hard to tame in a small room. Sounds great in big rooms imo. I would put the Onyx in the living room and keep the Earfun for outdoor parties but I like to have a quiver of speakers on hand for every occasion. You have good speakers but they are so close in size that it would be hard to decide which one to keep. I found that the soundcore boom's and Mifa Wildbox that I currently own do not work in the bathroom as well as smaller speakers. (Soundcore motion Plus ftw!) Is the Tribit Lava good in the bathroom or is the bass boomy on that one too?
You also cannot use it to create a stereo pair with a non-Costco Boom 2 despite them having the exact same hardware and model number. Absolutely ridiculous and I'm returning it due to that as I already had one Boom 2 and the entire reason for getting the Costco one was for that feature. Completely shortsighted on Anker and Costco's part and I bet I'm not the only lost sale due to this.
Earfun Uboom L does. And it's a badass little speaker. And two of them in stereo is pretty impressive. Plenty of volume, great highs and mids and more than enough bass to get the job done well. They aren't bass monsters but they don't lack it either. I have a few sets of speakers and they are well loved, especially for he price. My Soundcore Boom 2 isy favorite right now, but only because of it's loud clear bass. Uboom L are very good speakers. They are super clear at low to medium volume, but they still hold it together at max volume. They don't distort and still sound good.
I love my Boom 2. Absolutely amazing speaker. Badass bass and everything else sounds amazing.
Boom 2 is a safe option as in reasonable for the money without sounding amazing
From best to worst 1. Soundcore motion + 2. Klipsch nashville 3. Sony ult field 5 & tribit stormbox lava (tie) 4. Marshall emberton 3 & Bose soundlink flex 2 (tie) 5. Kef muo 6.tribit stormbox blast (OG) & Earfun uboom x(tie) 7. Soundcore boom 2 & x600 8. Harman kardon onyx studio 6 9. UE everboom, wonder boom & epicboom Soundcore motion + has been discontinued and has no ip dust rating Klipsch nashville, kef muo, bose soundlink flex 2, and harman kardon onyx studio 6 are mono format speakers Sony ult field 5, tribit stormbox lava & blast, earfun u boom x, Soundcore boom 2 & x600, UE epicboom and HK onyx studio 6 are all pretty large. The Marshall emberton 3, UE everboom & epic boom are 360⁰ speakers this is subjectively worse than a forward firing speaker for soundquality.
Go for the Motion Boom (Soundcore). It's great value for money, sound quality, and bass, but the original is hard to find in some countries; if not, get the Boom 2. That said, the EQ upgrade is a must, but currently, with the update, the woofers sound better than if it had a tweeter; it's very well-balanced.
