Currently have the SE version and picked it up today. Didn’t know it was a thing. What in particular is wrong about it?
After doing some looking around I went with the soundcore boom 2 se well worth it and right around 100 bucks. Anker really is doing a good job with soundcore
The SE model is 30 watts, and has no lights, and the speaker set up is completely different. Apparently with Walmarts buying power. They wanted a boom 2, but wanted it dirt cheap. So they got the SE. Then sometime later you could get it free at the Verizon stores. Its speaker set up is the same as the motion boom but doesn’t sound near as good, and that speaker is usually 60 bucks on sale on Amazon. The real boom 2 is 80 watts has a woofer and tweeter set up plus lights in the passive radiators. It’s got the bass! Also both sold for the same price. I have here lately seen the SE heavily reduced. I really like jamming out to it, but I guess there are a few that don’t like it. It gets loud as heck too.
Check out the soundcore boom 2. If you decide you like what you read just don’t buy it from Walmart.
My Soundcore Boom 2 v2 and my pair of Tribit Stormbox Micro 2's. They cover all the bases I'll ever need. I also like my pair of Uboom L's.
Earfun Uboom L does. And it's a badass little speaker. And two of them in stereo is pretty impressive. Plenty of volume, great highs and mids and more than enough bass to get the job done well. They aren't bass monsters but they don't lack it either. I have a few sets of speakers and they are well loved, especially for he price. My Soundcore Boom 2 isy favorite right now, but only because of it's loud clear bass. Uboom L are very good speakers. They are super clear at low to medium volume, but they still hold it together at max volume. They don't distort and still sound good.
I love my Boom 2. Absolutely amazing speaker. Badass bass and everything else sounds amazing.
Yep, and they are $79 at Costco right now. I have one and it's amazing.
Tribit Stormbox Micro 2. I got a pair off Amazon for $49 each. They are normally $65 or so. I also have a pair of Uboom L's, they are a great system. One is really good, two is really great. My Soundcore Boom 2's are my boombox setup and it's awesome. They were on sale recently at Costco for $49. I would suggest the Boom 2 if you can find one at a good deal. If you can find one under $100 it's worth it, they are loud, have killer bass and have clear good sound quality.
Soundcore Boom 2 🤘
The boom 2 absolutely kicks @$. It thumps and has very clear audio. For the price it surpasses any expectations I could of had. Absolutely love it.
I have a Motion Plus along with a bunch of other BT speakers. The Motion Plus is decent but I would get a pair of Earfun Uboom Ls for the most hifi experience. Motion Boom2 is in that $ range too.
A Pair of Earfun Uboom X speakers will deliver the best sound for that budget. Not the lightest boombox around but packs a punch and not as heavy as the Tribit Blast and & JBL Boombox. Harmon Kardon Go + play is highly rated and one of the best sounding portables in that $ range. You could get a pair of Earfun Uboom Ls or pair of Soundcore Boom 2s for under $200 that will deliver great sound on their own but really fill a room with a stereo pair.
I hear crickets. You can get a pair of Zealot ZE21's for a little over $300 that will get much louder than the Earfun UBoom x but the Zealots each weigh 15lbs more than the Earfuns.
Earfun UBoom X is loud and sounds good. Not too expensive, fits in a backpack. (9 lbs) Soundcore Boom 2 is lighter (3.6lbs.)
That is a good speaker and great value. Soundcore Boom 2 is a smaller & lighter option.
+1 on the Soundcore motion boom or Boom 2. The little Tribit cannot do real bass and these budget speakers from Soundcore will not disappoint. I have a couple of the little Tribit xSound Gos and a Motion plus that are great for the size but grab a bigger speaker when I want to thump some bass.
I am guessing it was little can sized Tribit Stormbox that is about the size of the JBL Flip. Look at the Soundcore Boom 2 for a good upgrade in output. A Tribit Lava would also be a decent upgrade.
Soundcore Boom2 will work well for a small group of people in a relatively quiet environment (Church) It gets pretty loud for how lightweight and compact it is. The other portable speaker I would consider is the Tribit Lava. It is a bump up in size and weight and bass output. (it is 2.3 kg. vs the 1.7 kg Boom2)
Lava is about the biggest speaker I would want to carry in a backpack but it is noticeably heavier than the flyweight Soundcore Boom 2. The main benefit of the bigger and heavier speakers is deeper more powerful bass.
I have a pair and think they are slick little boomboxes but the 4.15kg Uboom X is more than 2X as hefty as the 1.7 kg Soundcore Boom2. Not a bad choice at all but not flyweight boxes either. They do pack more of a punch for sure!
I would check out the new WKing x20s now that the Earfun Uboom X is no longer available. A stereo set would be rockin! The Soundcore Motion Boom2 is a safe bet for a lightweight portable. JBL Charge 6 is popular, seems well made to me but I think Soundcore and Tribit have products that give you more bang for the buck.
Yep, you are correct. It is a heavy unit. Even the Bose soundlink max is 2.22kg. Tribit Lava is 2.3kg. Best 2kg BT speaker is probably the good old Soundcore Boom2 and it is not as HIFI as the heavier speakers. Not sure why the OP needs a small/lightweight indoor speaker that is not getting moved around much but I use my 1kg Soundcore motion + for my non-critical indoor listening.
Soundcore Boom 2 is a lightweight 3.6lb compact speaker. The next big step up in output comes with the 8.3 lb Soundcore Boom 2 Plus and 9lb Earfun Uboom X . Original Tribit Blast V1 is 12lbs and can thump pretty hard too. Party speakers are giant plastic boxes that weigh over 20 lbs and not what I consider portable. I have a set of the cheap Onn Large Party speakers and although they put out more bass than my Earfun Uboom x boomboxes the Earfuns sound more hifi and are 1/3 the size and 1/2 the weight of the party monsters.
> marshell middleton Middleton is around 4 lbs. Good looking speaker but I like the bigger Killburn 3 best of all the Marshalls. A pair of speakers will deliver the most 3d "stereo" but is not necessarily convenient for travel and use on the go. Tribit Lava is popular budget 5lb speaker. Soundcore Boom2 is more compact and also sounds good for the size. Soundcore Motion x600 has "spatial audio" feature that might bounce the sound a bit.
It is only when you have a group of friends hanging at a fire way out in the woods or when the backyard BBQ is invaded with drunk people do you need high output. A little JBL extreme 4 or smaller and much lighter Soundcore Boom 2 puts out nice lows for the size.
No single BT speaker does it all and new models can make great speakers obsolete. I have a pair of super compact Tribit Micro2's that fit in my jacket pockets. They get pretty loud for the size and are durable with good battery life. You can grab them on aliexpress for under $30 last time I checked. There is a Tribit Micro 3 coming out soon and new similar sized pocket speaker from Soundcore that is getting good reviews (Soundcore Boom 3i ). Would check those out if you want a little speaker that sounds big. I have had a Soundcore Motion Plus that is still rocking after four years of use. Probably would have got a JBL Charge or Earfun Uboom L if I did not already have a Motion Plus. Nothing wrong with the JBL Charge 6 and Flip 7's but I just wanted something different and Tribit/Earfun/Soundcore often deliver more bang for the buck. The Soundcore Boom 2 is nice lightweight little boombox that is hard to beat for the money. Some speakers that cost twice as much do not sound as good. Probably the most popular speaker under $100 that gets recommended on this sub. I gave a bunch of the original Soundcore Boom 1 speakers to friends who had crappy speakers so I would not have to listen to junk when I came over for picnics. Win win for me! If you are a basshead there are heavyduty boomboxes that weigh over 8lbs and not as easy tote about but can thump dance music better than the little guys. Original Tribit blast is a 12lb tank but hits hard for a $160 speaker. Wking has some high value heavy hitters too.
There are lots of good options. I have a pair of Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 portables that are excellent for their compact size and just $35 a pop on aliexpress. (Lots of reviews/comparisons on the net). Great form factor and nice fabric cover imo. Similar to the Bo$e Soundlink Micro2 The new Soundcore Boom GO i3 is a similar sized compact speaker that just came out that kicks some butt according to the one reveiw I have seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R0IupNtFLo You can get them for $60 from Soundcores website. The little Soundcore Select go 4 is popular around here for a tiny travel speaker and you can get a pair for $50! Not much bass in the tiny speakers. There are larger portabale speakers like the JBL Flip, Earfun Uboom L and Bose Soundlink Flex that will have deeper bass.
Good choice. It has a nice amount of thump for the size & weight. Soundcore usually gives you a lot of bang for the buck and the Boom 2 is a favorite around here.
The Ult3 is a good size to travel and if my Motion Plus ever poops the bed I might have to grab a set. I just picked up a second Tribit Micro 2 for around $30 and now have a compact stereo rig that will cost around the same as a single larger speaker. Trading the sweet bass for better stereo imaging is not for everyone.
$55 is a great price for the Boom2. That may be the best option if you like bass. Original Bose Soundlink is $57 at QVC. (Check Slickdeals for info). I see Openbox Onn large Party speakers are available at wallmart for $87 right now if you have neighbors you want to annoy.
Uboom is more portable. Soundcore Boom 2 will be a little louder for outdoor use. (No input jack on the Boom 2 unfortunately/ my bad check out the Soundcore motion boom plus)
You are correct. I have a aux in jack on my Soundcore Motion Plus and Motion Boom Plus but forgot the Boom and Boom2 have no jacks.
Good sub $150 outdoor speakers from smallest to largest. JBL Charge 6 Soundcore Boom 2 Tribit Lava WKing X20S Tribit Blast 1 A pair of the Soundcore Boom 2 will cost less than $150. I like having the wide stereo capability & you can have a backup for when the battery dies. They are lightweight and relatively loud for the size.
The Soundcore Booms are great speakers for the size and weight and really great when you factor in the cost. You may just want to grab a second one for parties and wider stereo. The next big step up is the Earfun Uboom X. Not as portable as a Motion Boom because of the extra weight but the bass output is unbeatable for the money. Sounds nice and you can EQ it to sound even better. I would love a Brane X for the small form factor and deep deep bass but $500 is not chump change! You can get a pair of Motion Boom 2 's for $140 and pair of Uboom X speakers for under $300.
Try the new firmware update for the Lava. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y2FyR2ZI-k](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y2FyR2ZI-k) The exaggerated deep bass on the Onyx is going to be hard to tame in a small room. Sounds great in big rooms imo. I would put the Onyx in the living room and keep the Earfun for outdoor parties but I like to have a quiver of speakers on hand for every occasion. You have good speakers but they are so close in size that it would be hard to decide which one to keep. I found that the soundcore boom's and Mifa Wildbox that I currently own do not work in the bathroom as well as smaller speakers. (Soundcore motion Plus ftw!) Is the Tribit Lava good in the bathroom or is the bass boomy on that one too?
You also cannot use it to create a stereo pair with a non-Costco Boom 2 despite them having the exact same hardware and model number. Absolutely ridiculous and I'm returning it due to that as I already had one Boom 2 and the entire reason for getting the Costco one was for that feature. Completely shortsighted on Anker and Costco's part and I bet I'm not the only lost sale due to this.
I was a staunch Ultimate Ears user. Hyperboom was my daily driver for hanging it in the boat. Would party up with 3-4 other ue speakers to listen to the same music from multiple boats. I went to the boom2 last February for a more portable bt speaker to travel in the plane with me for a trip to Mexico . I was super impressed with it. I got a boom3i on beta testing, and I've if my other friends bought a boom2 plus at my recommendation and he loves it. He was one that would bring his ue speaker to party with mine. Went to a celebration of life ceremony in California and they needed BT speakers asap, and bought 3 of the Costco boom2 v2's. That worked excellent. Since then, I've added more soundcore boom speakers and the TWS pairing is amazing. For the OP, the 2 Costco boom2 v2's tws paired is the ultimate solution for probably the just amount of money
I think you bought a dud. Return it, if you haven't already. I've got a boom 2 and it's excellent. Sounds great. Almost better than a UE hyperboom in many regards, which is crazy considering the cost difference and specs.
Two boom 2's or boom2 pluses would be excellent in Tws paired
Boom 2's were 75 each for a couple of weeks before until around black Friday ish. A friend bought 3 of these when Costco had that deal. I got mine in February for 90 from Verizon and I thought that was a great deal.
I can't disagree with this. I have a boom 2 and a boom 3i and a buddy bought a boom2 plus. I'm impressed with the whole lineup. I got my boom 2 for 90 at Verizon last February. Apparently Costco has the boom 2 for $75 each now. Buy 2, pair them and save $50 with that 200 price point
Op is looking to spend 200 on a BT speaker. You mentioned a 70 dollar speaker, I mentioned a 180 soundcore speaker, and sometime else Meijer buying 2 of another slightly smaller soundcore speaker, which still fits under the spend threshold. The boom 2 is so much better than the motion boom you mentioned, and at the Costco $65 price, one could buy that for almost the same price as the speaker you mentioned, but 30 w vs 80w for the boom 2.
Especially with a pair of them paired TWS. I have a boom 2, and a new boom 3i and have paired with a friend's boom 2+. Soundcore speakers are excellent for the money.
I bought my hyperboom when they first came out. It's been great. I use it a lot. It's just portable enough to put in the boat and set it on my boat for tie outs. But, when I needed a small portable speaker to take on a plane to Mexico for my birthday this past March, it had to sound good, be small and light. The soundcore boom2 fit my needs. The light show was another great feature, especially for parties/ entertainment. Then I got a boom 3i in a beta test for free and I use that speaker quite a bit as it's very small for what it can do. When a lake friend was about to buy a bigger "party up" able speaker, I recommended the soundcore boom2 plus. He always wanted a hyperboom, and had a smaller boom UE speaker and I would pair it with others to my hyperboom. Now we're all going soundcore. The IP67 and floating part are great on a lake.
I am not reading that they think the JBL is better, they are even showing why the boom2 is better. For some reason they like the JBL, but it's subjective and not objectively a rain. The boom 2 is superior head to head in every way Costco has the boom 2 for 75 bucks now. Buy 2 of the boom2 and really go nuts in TWS.
Barely less portable. I packed my boom2 in my luggage to Mexico for my birthday this March. The sound the boom 2 makes is way bigger than it has a right to make, totally worth the slightly bigger/ heavier footprint.
Yeah buy the boom2. It's simply better than the JBL. Especially if you want bass. Buy 2 at $75 each from Costco.
Soundcore boom2 is a great speaker. If you want a little more portability, the boom3i is really good as well
Boom2 would probably work well. They are easily fit in a backpack. They are pretty loud and sound really full for their size. You might need 2 of them. They pair easily. Or the boom2 plus would work, but it's not backpack able. The plus does have a shoulder strap.
You should look at soundcore speakers. A boom2 or boom2 plus or a pair of each will sound great. Even one of these will work well. What is your price range?
Anker soundcore boom3i. Super portable and super well bulk. I use mine for firewood use, mostly stacking because the chainsaws and the gas splitters make enough noise to not burger with that, plus, you should concentrate on the power tools. But stacking, which takes the most time it's prime speaker/ music time. I also use the soundcore boom2 but it's a little bigger. The boom3i though is super portable and 50 watts. It has enough bass too.
Soundcore Boom2 isn't really boom box form factor. The boom2 plus/ pro is though. For its size the boom2 puts a good amount of bass out. The boom 2 plus is 140 watts and definitely has more bass.
I've only had boom2 since February, but I use it all the time. I have had my boom3i since this spring and it too works great. I see no reason why the batteries on the soundcore speakers wouldn't last extremely long times and maintain capacity, seeing that Anker mattress the soundcore speakers and Anker might have the best and most experience in making battery packs of any company that offers BT speakers.
Yes, soundcore boom2. It even floats. If you want louder you can get the boom2 plus.
Soundcore boom2 sounds so much better than the JBL charges. It's funny how a soundcore that is routinely on sale under 100 dollars and many times for $75 absolutely destroys a speaker that can cost 2x as much. You Tws pair two boom2's and it's not even close. If you think 2 charge6 paired sounds good, you need to try 2 boom2's Tws paired.
I was a huge UE guy. They had the best tech. Times have changed . Now other speakers can link 100 or so speakers together, I migrated away from UE. The hyperboom is still in a class of it's own, but my money goes to Anker soundcore speakers now. For $100 or less now, you can get a soundcore boom2. It blows away any of those smaller UE speakers, probably any of them that's not the hyperboom. If you want smaller than the boom 2, then get a soundcore boom3i. 50w ultra portable. 80 bucks on sale now
I have not heard the motion+. I have a boom3i a boom2 and have a buddy with a boom2 plus. I've linked several boom2's for an event and that worked great. I link up all the booms for boating. I have a feeling for the same money, the boom3i is a better speaker/ value unless the aesthetics of the motion+ it's what you are looking for. I'm more of an "active type speaker" guy personally.
Yes, soundcore boom2 is a great speaker for this. It's waterproof and floats if need be. It's fairly small for the sound it makes. It's also a power bank if you need to charge your phone. I got mine for $90 about a year ago. Costco had it for 75 over black Friday. You can link 100 or more speakers together easily.
These are great. Definitely an option in the boom2 is too big.
Honestly I've not been impressed with hk or bose speakers. Marshall don't seem to have any glowing reviews either. Especially not for the premium they get. I was just at my wife's aunt's celebration of life ceremony last month. They quickly needed bt speakers for music at the hall because the speaker system at the place wasn't compatible. At my suggestion they bought 3 soundcore boom2's at Costco when they were $75 each. I got my boomè in February for 90 which was a great deal. They were going to buy JBL's because that's what they were used to, that and HK. They couldn't argue for the price which was a smoking deal. But they were super impressed with the sound, especially when linked. 3 filled the hall perfectly , and I offered to add my boom3i I travelled with, but it was clearly not needed. The distance they can stay linked is also very impressive.
Costco has them for 75 dollars right now. Our family had a celebration of life ceremony this Saturday and we needed speakers. I knew of this great deal and 3 of them worked perfectly for this large banquet room. I bought a boom 2 in February and have been pretty damn impressed with the entire soundcore boom series. At the time it was $90 on sale and that was a great deal, but 75 each is even better
Flying with big speakers is a problem. You can't pack them in checked luggage, only carry on. There's limits to the size of the battery on board the speaker too. That said 2 soundcore boom2's will probably be more than enough. You can't fit with much more than that anyway due to size and battery capacity. For reference, we had 3 boom2's at a celebration of life ceremony in a room that could hold 600-700 people. There were only about 150 people and due to the occasion, they were turned down pretty low. I took a single boom2 last year to Mexico to the villa I rented due my birthday and it was awesome, that smallish speaker really puts out some sound.
Pro is slightly better. Not in sound quality, but the pro is not just waterproof, and floating, but dust proof too. Afaik they are exactly the same besides the dust proof addition of the pro. Tbh, the reg boom2 is not dust proof, like the boom2 plus, and it's fine at the beach with fine sand. I have a boom3i a boom2 and a friend has a boom2 plus ( at my recommendation) and we link them all together all the time
I was a staunch Ultimate Ears user. Since then, I've added more soundcore boom speakers and the TWS pairing is amazing. For the OP, the 2 Costco boom2 v2's tws paired is the ultimate solution for probably the just amount of money
VERY hard to beat that deal. I linked 3 of the Costco boom2 v2's together last fall for a large gathering. They worked very well.
You'll love it. The boom2 is a solid speaker that sounds way bigger than it is and costs. I was going to recommend the boom2 but I see you bought one already. They really make quality stuff for not a lot of money.
I just purchased the Soundcore boom 2 for less than 80 pounds on Amazon and it sounds great. The reviews are very good as well, you can also link more than one.
