Have had ut crankin since 10 am this mornin while workin waitin to see how battery holds up have had it about 60 to 80 percent volume and tuned brightly in app rught now showin about 60 percent battery but soundwise it easily wipes the floor with the jbl flip 7 , the wking d320 doesnt come close to it as far as bass and clarity even with that having 2 tweeters but so far im super impressed with it. For 98 bucjw ya cant go wrong. Headin to lake after work will test the floating on it altho its not how id ever use it lol

I got two 3i's and a boom 2 to try against each other. I agree with the portability of the 3i vs boom 2. The boom 2 is stereo, but the 3i is mono. The TWS paring between the 3i's is way better than my first gen motion +'s. The boom 2 does have some rich bass but the 3i's bass seems to drop out less when the volume is increased. More testing and EQ adjusting to be done before I'm sure about that. I'll likely send back the boom 2 as well. I appreciate the comments.

Soundcore just made the Boom3i. It has a buzz clean feature to clear sand out if you got some in too and cheaper than Jbls its $100 as of now for Prime-Day

I bought both. I returned the boom 2 and keeping the 3i. The 3i can get plenty loud and the portability compared to boom 2 is night and day.

I tend to purchase smaller sized speakers like the flip, ult field 1, and I purchased the boom 3i to replace my ult field one and the 2 things I dont like about the boom 3i is the bass at loud volumes isn't as punchy as the ult field one, and id go as far to say the ult field one does loudness alot better, which sucks becuase this speaker is advertised at 50w and the ult 1 is 30w. secondly, the battery life is mediocre, but its understandable becuase it maintains a nice deep bass at low to medium volume. So if you regularly play louder music probably go with the ult field one since its about the same size, and if you're going to listen to low to medium volume music, then the boom 3i is perfect.

I had a JBL go 4 and a Flip 7. I returned them both and bought a Soundcore Boom 3i. It's a bit bigger than the options you have listed, but sounds absolutely phenomenal for its size, gets very loud, and it's probably the most rugged speaker I've ever owned. It's still portable enough to where I always keep it with me because it fits nicely in a backpack, suitcase, etc. it comes with a strap (not really that it's remotely large enough to need one) but it was SUPER easy to 3D print a handle for if you prefer to carry it that way. Again, it's not pocket size, so maybe it's bigger than what you're looking for, but I was also in the market for a pocket size speaker and I quickly changed my mind once I tried the Boom 3i

I returned my flip 7 after buying a Boom 3i. Fantastic speaker and I was able to find a good eq for it. Genuinely impressed with what you get for the money with the 3i

I'm a lil late to the reply, but I've got a decent EQ for it if you want me to share it with you. I found a frequency response curve for the 3i with a flat EQ online, and adjusted mine to try and make the inverse of the one I found online (ideally to try and produce as close to a flat response curve as I can with just a slight boost to the bass). It's worth noting I don't have the proper hardware to get my own readings, but I did the best I could and it sounds pretty good. It's also worth noting, there's a guy who's been trashing the speaker for not sounding good, because he adjusted his EQ without having BASS UP on. But, from what I can tell, the bass up is meant to be on by default. Similar to how JBL speakers have their "party extend" button to turn the bass way down to conserve battery, turning bass up off basically just turns the bass way down to save battery.

I've some JBL speakers big and small from the Go 4, a few in the clip series, a party box 300, Flip 7, etc. Personally, I returned my clip, go 4, and flip 7 once I got a Soundcore Boom 3i. It's probably much more rugged than what it sounds like you would use it for, but the sound for its size is nothing short of phenomenal. It has fantastic battery life, and the app support is better than any other speaker than I've ever had. The Boom 3i is honestly my most used speaker by a wide margin atm. I work in a pretty casual office and occasionally do some fabrication, assembly, and testing in the field. I take it with me in my bag for work to play in the office to play quietly, it gets loud enough to drown out anything I need when I'm in the field, it's waterproof and salt water rated for weekend beach trips too. I use it at home for music while I'm cooking, audiobooks during the day when I can work from home, and I pair it to my tv or projector at night when I'm watching movies.

It's the Boom 3i. I bought one and it's a fantastic speaker. Based on its ratings, it's actually even more rugged than a turtlebox! It's IP68 with an additional coating to protect against salt and minor corrosives

Get the boom 2 instead. My boom 3i didn't have that problem, but i still think the boom 2 sounds better overall.

Boom 3i updated eq: [edens4784] share SP critic EQ P EQ from soundcore Boom 3i with you. https://dl-soundcore.soundcore.com/qcdl?flow=soundcore&tk=jnit74Fz&pn=D5100&rg=GW To use, copy the link and open the speaker homepage on the soundcore app. Sorry for the constant eq updates, the boom 3i is one of the toughest speakers to eq. You always end up changing something. I think this comparison is worth doing because of being at a similar size category, and not that different in price (129.99$ on amazon vs 149.99$ on official harman kardon) Even though the boom 3i has frequent sales and coupons bringing it down to 90-100$. I can understand that both were made for almost completely different scenarios, the harman being that premium home friendly speaker, and the soundcore being the speaker you can take outdoors with no worries, throw in sand or water, blasting max volume. But i still feel like some people would have a rough time deciding, and i want to make things clear. The luna is a factory tuned speaker. It has no app, no adjustments, just what you get out of the box. While you can change it via 3rd party eq's, i don't see that as an option because of volume reduction, and it personally dosen't feel original or right. If you don't like the warm sound signature just don't get the luna. By trying to brighten it you end up losing volume. COMPARISON BY CATEGORIES: -Build quality: the luna is well built, better looking and better feeling. The boom 3i is more plasticy cheaper feeling. -durability: 100% on soundcore's favor. Way safer to use outdoors, more drop proof, better with water and sand and probably sea water. (Not sponsored) The luna looks better for home use, more esthetic and modern. It can be taken outdoors for sure, but i'd be more careful and always watch where i put it. -Features: the luna has no features pretty much. The soundcore has plenty, some of them are just soundcore marketing. But the great eq by soundcore is the best feature it has. But something about the luna having no features makes it feel like a whole package with harman's signature for those who are fans of harman products and appreciate their signature. - battery life: the soundcore is rated for 4 hours longer than the harman (16 vs 12) but i can easily see it going for 12 or less using bassup mode or lights. I will test the battery life of the soundcore later on, but the battery rating of the luna is pretty accurate and i have no complaints, even tho it could be more, but that's a typical harman battery rating as we saw with the rest of their speakers (onyx, go play etc) . At similar volumes, the soundcore would last longer i believe. SOUND: -treble: the boom 3i is a brighter speaker than the luna, while non of them is more "sparkly" than the other. You can tone down the treble of the soundcore to make it similar to the harman, but i still think the treble of the luna has more smoothness and clarity overall. I would still like the soundcore to be brighter, because of the slight lack of detail from the tweeter. -mids: the mids of the harman are pretty strong, but it lacks in the uppermids sometimes, which is why it sounds so warm. You can make it better on the boom 3i, but you'll have to reduce something else like upperbass because otherwise it would sound too boomy. Lower mids are strong on both, but the luna feels smoother and more detailed. The eq can help a lot with the boom 3i, but it was very hard to replicate the luna's lower mids. -bass: the 3i can go deeper than the luna for sure, especially when adding 50 - 60 hz on the eq, but i don't think it's a great idea, as it reduces the overall sound quality. The luna is almost on point with it's depth limit, but sometimes it does feel like it could be a little deeper and less boomy. With the eq i provided at the top of the post, i did some balancing between the deep bass and upper bass. Overall clarity goes to the luna, it has a better dsp and looks like it does a better job at handling more complicated soundtracks. the soundcore does get louder and will be heard from further away than the luna. It also has less bass reduction than the luna. At bassup, the soundcore tends to distort at high volumes, which is why my eq is for bassup off only. Overall, i think it boils down to your purpose of getting a speaker. You want something loud for outdoor conditions and to throw it in your backpack? Go with the soundcore. You want a premium and elegant looking speaker for home decor and lower volume listening? get the harman. As always, thank you for taking a look. 🔈🔈

Wonderboom 4, if you're willing to try again. (As another commenter said, have you tried contacting Ultimate Ears about this?). Otherwise the JBL Flip 7 is a good choice. It might be a little big for you, but the Anker Soundcore Boom 3i floats and is designed to sound good while floating, if that helps...

that's great to hear. thanks for the thoughts. we're testing it right now and it has a pretty balanced sound for its size. the floating feature is fun, too.

soundcore 3i, it floats speaker upwards. Not the best speaker maybe in general, but for this purpose a good fit.

Boom 3i is specifically advertised for your use case; it's not the absolute best but it does float with the drivers facing up and should get loud enough. Alternatively the old Sony XB33 floats with the drivers up IIRC; it's not great but if you can find one used for cheap it's still a good option IMO.

I like the soundcore boom handles way more actually. The Sony xg300 handle is kinda flexible and doesn’t hold as nice to me. It wobbles. And the thicker soundcore handles are more round, I would choose them everytime. Though portability is a thing, soundcore handles are fixed

If you own the boom 2, try getting another boom 2 and pair it? I think that if you own a working boom 2 right now, then that's the most bass you will get with $150 possible (2 paired together) Also make absolutely sure you're trying out different custom EQs. My boom and boom 2 sounded LIFELESS before EQing

Ah fair enough! Yeah I havnt ventured into any options for the next size up. I do think the boom 1 and 2 are really special for their size, with the right eq and song it still blows my mind, but I'm glad that the bigger ones are in fact putting out real work. I havnt paired 2 boons myself actually, it was just random advice since he wants more bass for $150, and I think he already has one of them. It does sound like he'd be better off saving a little more money and shopping out larger models at the $180-$250 range, cus idk what will make him much happier than the boom 2 for $150 rn (that's really worth the difference over Boom 2 I mean)

The Soundcore Booms are great speakers for the size and weight and really great when you factor in the cost. You may just want to grab a second one for parties and wider stereo. The next big step up is the Earfun Uboom X. Not as portable as a Motion Boom because of the extra weight but the bass output is unbeatable for the money. Sounds nice and you can EQ it to sound even better. I would love a Brane X for the small form factor and deep deep bass but $500 is not chump change! You can get a pair of Motion Boom 2 's for $140 and pair of Uboom X speakers for under $300.

I have a pair of Felx 2s, just sent back my Charge 5, and thought my Soundcore Boom was just "okay." The Charge 5 may have gotten a bit louder (outside)), but the sound from my Flex 2 was good enough that I bought a second one to pair it with. Together, they're loud, detailed, clear, and have plenty of low-end. I'm currently using them on a sailboat (Ericson 30+), and they sound great in the cabin down below as well as up in the cockpit when I'm sailing offshore (Pacific) or in San Francisco Bay. There are likely other contenders you should consider... But what's your budget?
