If you are interested in clean, accurate, natural sound, go with the original MaxSound Plus. Probably won’t have as much bass as the others but it’s a very nicely tuned speaker for the size and very durable. Bluetooth probably outdated but has aux.
Can relate, and yes I do this as well. My setup is: lap desk, battery that supports 12V USB-C PD, Birdcord 12V USB-C PD or MyVolts USB-C PD Step Up adapter (I have both, they work equally well), and headphones or speaker. The portable speaker I use is the Tribit MaxSound Plus, it's quite excellent for its size. I also have the analog cases that u/arcticrobot pictured, works great for travel but doesn't really help you with a lap setup on its own. I've tried bluetooth speakers, and I can't recommend them, the lag is too significant and annoying. You want something hardwired, such as the Tribit I mentioned.
Harmon kardon, bang and oflusion and JBL all sound good the bass doesn't shake but It can rattle your ears but I could never justify spending a lot on a speaker for otg as I do construction and I would completely destroy these lol j went with tribit Max sound plus for work which has been a awesome speaker and a wking d10 for the beach
A pair of Tribit Maxsound Pluses would do the job! 😇
I've been using a Tribit MaxSound Plus for a few years. Very happy with the sound, it is reasonably loud and fairly compact.
I am very happy with Tribit. Have the Maxsound and X Sound 2. Xsound 2 is a little bit better in Sound but no big difference. Very long Power.
I have two of the older maxsound plus and if the xsound plus2 is similar, they make a great pair and one is manageable for travel. That is my recommendation.
Bro motion 300 doesn't come close to Flip 6 in the terms of clarity, instrument separation and bass, but still jbl is a little bit harsh. My first Bluetooth speaker was tribit stormbox micro 2, a bit smaller than average portable speakers and I love it's sound profile it was best to my ears. Later on I tried tribit sound plus, JBL flip 6, motion 300, and currently I'm having Bose SoundLink flex Gen 2. Bose is not everyone it doesn't have a bright sound. And the soundstage is narrow but still somehow it's favorite to Many. I didn't try tribit stormbox flow but I heard it has same sound profile as tribit stormbox micro 2. Tribit sound plus is also called audiophile level speaker so you can try sound plus 2. Motion 300 bass some time so bad that unbearable.
