Two of these are the way to go. Although I’d say two Tribit storm box blast is better for bass. I have one already, hopefully I will get another one day.

2 tribit stormbox blasts still piss on soundcore speakers, under £300. Loudness and decent sound ,don't always mix as most speakers drop highs and lows in high volumes.

This is something I have looked into and the options are not great if you need something that can get loud For portability I think Bluetooth speakers make the most sense. That said you don't get much for $80. Anker makes some solid options that perform well on a budget. I own an Anker Soundcore Motion+, speaker which costs $80. For a small portable speaker it sounds great for background music. The downside is it's pretty small so is limited on how loud it gets. It works well for a BBQ or hanging out with friends but it's not exactly the best option if you want to crank it I also own a Tribit StormBox Blast. Which is a good amount more powerful and can get quite a bit louder than the Motion+. It also costs a lot more $200 (though I got it for $160 on sale) That said, I think at lower volumes the Motion+ sounds much better to me and is much cheaper and I use it way more than the Tribit. It's fine for hanging out and turning the music up but it's not audiophile and it wouldn't be my choice for a backyard rave. Somewhere between the two is the Anker Soundcore Boom 2. It's not rated as high as the StormBox but for much less ($120) you'll get something that's almost as loud. Other options are just getting a cheap class D amp and used bookshelf speakers. You'll get much better sound quality and loudness but you'll need to increase your budget a bit and it's not the most portable option. I feel it. With that budget, I'd go with the UBOOM X. I was one of those people that would talk shit about it because I saw so many people hyping it up, but I gave it a chance and it is well worth the money I paid for ($103). But even on prime you can snag it for around $120 which is still a good deal. If you do go this route, make sure you put UBOOMXXX in the discount code thing in Amazon. It should bring it down to that price. Just helping a fellow Redditor out. I also heard they're discontinuing the UBOOM X. $15 bucks more you can get the Tribit Stormbox Blast which, in my opinion, is an awesome speaker. The choice is yours.

Yuup! The only downside is you have to rely on the app and Oluvs EQs.. say you’re at a gathering or something- not everyone is gonna have the app. At least with the Blast you don’t have to rely on different EQs.

Tribit StormBox Blast is my pick. Set it in a corner and you’ll feel that bass. I know so because I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it so far. 👍🏼

Depends on the speaker. Some of the delay is caused by Bluetooth, and some by the DSP (signal processing) - aux will bypass the Bluetooth, but not necessarily the DSP. Some speakers have minimal-to-zero lag on the aux (Minirig, Tribit Stormbox Blast) and some still have significant. For example I believe some of the JBL PartyBoxes have lag on the aux in but not on the daisychain as that bypasses the DSP :)

I only have the tribit blast and that thing is amazing. I am shocked at how loud it gets and sounds so great

I lost my original Motion Boom and it was a stellar speaker. You could have it in your bedroom at very low volumes and still get good sound. I hear from alan ross the most recent ones are handicapped by worse components, but... \*beware\* the Boom 2. I made the mistake of buying it and it's just unsuitable for bedroom listening. It's like the amplifier is always running at full tilt even at low volumes, and it has a very noticeable hiss/whine. To add insult to injury it's not constant, it keeps turning itself on and off so you can't just ignore it. It might just be the component lottery, I don't know. So two "original" booms, even with the cost-cutting, \*might\* still be a good buy. You just couldn't beat them for portability, I could stick two in my backpack and still have room for all my stuff, or take just one and forget that I was carrying it until I needed to charge my phone. I miss it. That said... the Stormbox blast weighs a ton but it has an aux input, so it can be used for actually playing music, not just consuming it. It's too heavy for me to lug around, but it's a good all-round package. I'm still waiting for a good compromise: basically an original Motion Boom with an aux in.

My Tribit Stormbox Blast will not accept this Bluetooth speaker slander.

It does sound great, but it was very middy for myself.

I use it on a construction site clipped on to my tool belt so it’s pretty much perfect if not a little awkwardly shaped which is my only gripe. If I need something that I can leave stationary to cover a larger area I bought a Stormbox blast, and that lasts me an 8hr work day easily and is just loud enough for most jobs.

The only thing rugged enough for a construction job is something dewalt/Milwaukee/etc.. I bought a tribit sb blast for the same purpose as you pretty much. It sounds 100x better than any tool brand speaker, but def not as durable, and I am always paranoid about it getting hit/falling over etc. Battery life is also very satisfactory, and is not as huge as others

I have the blast 2 and comparing it to the blast 1 it sounds ok, the blast 2 has more bass, volume and power. Compared ing the two side by side at different volume levels the blast 2 sounds dull, I love the bast 1 sound signature I hope they come out with updates and retune it a bit

I actually had the boombox 1 for a while the went to the extreme 3, blast 1 now 2, the blast 1 has a little more bass then the boombox and sounds a little better surprisingly, the blast 1 is also a little louder, the blast 2 has actually a lot more bass then the blast 1 and with its new update it sound’s actually better, if you have the money I would suggest a blast 2 + it’s a new speaker and more future proof

I once compared my UboomX and Blast outdoor, At 5 meters distance, they fare against each other, for me when the blast plays at 60-80% volume and UboomX 60%-80% volume (This is the volume I would listen to when 5 meters away), the blast somehow sound smoother,sweeter, less aggressive, more boomy feeling, meanwhile the UboomX sparklier maybe sometime boxy and metallic, but all that comes to a price, you said you like the stereo and listening at side performence of UboomX, to get those advantage Oluv has to tuned it aggressively and pull the treble eq up and when you listen to it closely and stand direct infront of it, it would sometimes sound harsh and metallic. But when we talk about listening to the speakers 15 meters or 20 meters away, here is where UboomX shine, at 80%-100% volume UboomX getting louder and louder in each volume steps, it is outstanding that this speaker can be listened that far away and still have those kicking and bass, meanwhile my blast can only perform good when listen to it 5-10 meters away. For Indoor listening since we only use 60%-70% volume of the speaker and don't need the stereo imaging performence, some might just prefer the warm sweet signature of the blast, me personally still wouldn't care since the UboomX is way better in outdoor (please tell me your opinion if you not agree). BTW, in the recent patreon post of Oluv, he mentioned that all of the UboomX units he bought recently just sound different to his tunning prototype, the units tend to have 1-2 dB less than the prototype and most importantly, there are like a -5 dB in 2k-5k Hz region, which would make UboomX a lot darker that Oluv originally want it to be. I tried using PowerAMP EQ and add a QValue 3.6 , 3.5K Hz, 5dB gain peak, and the speaker sound more alive now, Oluv said that he would soon post the first correction EQ in his patreon, later on there would be a desktop EQ and a TWS EQ, 3 firmwares in total, which I am very looking forward to, and I don't mind giving credit to his work so yeah I would buy those EQ.

I love all of these speakers a lot, but the Harman Kardon has the best bass for the kind of music that I listen to.

Well it is a cheap plastic speaker that looks and feels like it was put together in a poor remote Chinese factory. While the sound quality isn't bad by any means, it's really not anything impressive, so sorry not everyone is blown away this speaker. I would take my HK Onyx Studio 7, Motion Boom Plus 2,Sony XG500, or even the Stormbox Blast over this any day. The highs and mids are flat and lifeless and while the bass is without a doubt impressive, it is boomy and muddled and overpowers the music on certain tracks. It is a decent speaker at low to mid volume depending on the type of music. If you want to get upset and insult my ears, feel free, but my opinion stands. This speaker will collect dust until I find someone to pawn it off on. Maybe they will enjoy it as much as you think everyone else should.

If you’re moving around a speaker I’d say go with Earfun Uboom X. I have an older Playbar with gen 3 subs and 2 Play:1’s. Also have a One in the kitchen as well as One in the bathroom. They do fine. I just have other speakers that sound just as good or even better without having connectivity issues. I run Tribit Stormbox Blast (original) and 2 Stormbox Micro 2’s. No way I’d recommend the Move 2. The era 300 especially in a pair are a great pair, but that’s just so much money for entry audiophile equipment.

I have a bunch of Sonos products. But when I wanted a portable speaker I went with the Tribit Stormbox Blast (1st gen). It wasn’t really about saving money, it was just trying to find the best value to quality. Plus, this was when the Sonos app was an absolute disaster. I’m thankful that happened, otherwise I wouldn’t have such a dependable boombox.

Micro(2), Blast(2) and Lava are great. XSound Plus (2) and Stormbox(2) alright, but there are better speakers in that size imo. Stormbox Mini(2) just blows.

If the JBL Partybox 110/120 is too expensive, go for 2 or more UBoom X. You can pair them up, but be aware that party or tws mode will drain the battery faster (as is the case with all speakers). The Stormbox is nowhere loud enough. Strombox Blast would also work, but needs a bigger charger.

Also would go for 2x Stormbox blast over the Uboom X. They just sound better to me and not by a small amount.

I’m a firm believer in dual-purpose gear, especially when traveling light. I used to carry a small Anker power bank and a speaker separately, until I got the Tribit StormBox Blast (it has a 20,000mAh battery + power-out). It won’t replace your main power bank, but it did save my phone during a bus ride in Colombia when I forgot to charge. I know JBL Charge 5 does something similar, are there other travel speakers with this kind of backup feature? Also open to other multi-use tech recs!

Currently, I'm not using any of the portable ones, since I've not being going anywhere. At home I have speakers in every room. But my favorites would be the Tribit Stormbox Blast and Stormbox Micro 2

I have a Tribit Stormbox Blast 1, which RTINGS measures at 96.7 dB. IMO this speaker is plenty for most outdoor activities or a small group gathering. However it is currently selling for $199 on Amazon, I got mine for $155. The Earfun Uboom X, I think is about the same max volume and is $129 on Amazon

I barely use mine now, but they're still one of my favorite portable speakers.

Bluetooth is backwards compatible, so doesn't matter if the phone is old, it'll still work with newer bluetooth speakers. I have 2 Stormbox Blasts and they sounds really good together. But if you want to save some money, check out the Earfun Uboom X instead.

I agree with the other replies that two speakers are better than one. It depends on how big you are willing to carry around. My favorite that I've settled on is the Soundcore Boom 2. Although it is slightly larger than my idea size for a portable speaker, the handle makes it easy to move around. In my opinion it is just about the perfect balance of size, clarity, and bass for a portable speaker. It has great sound and great bass (even outside). It just won't fit in a small spot. For a smaller speaker, I would recommend the Earfun Uboom L or the Soundcore Motion 300 or the Bose Soundlink Flex. Again, a pair of these in stereo will get the best most room filling sound. All of these are small and easy to carry and easy to place anywhere. If you just want one speaker, I would recommend the Tribit Stormbox Blast or the Earfun Uboom X. They both sound great, with full sound, clarity, and deep bass. But they are huge! Probably not easily carried from room to room, but that that is your decision to make. The Soundcore Boom 2 would be good as a single speaker too, with a smaller size, but it won't sound quite as good as these other two.

Look up the Boominator for a DIY festival speaker project. Roskild has boominator camps where people hook them up together and cook everyone's ear drums. Car batteries are freaking heavy. Lithium is better. A pair of good BT party speakers like the Stormbox Blast can put out a decent amount of bass for the size and will be useful for more than just "festival" camping. The 12v forum at [speakerplans.com](http://speakerplans.com) has lots of wagon systems and other battery powered rigs to get ideas from.

A Jbl Partbox 120 would do everything you need it to. 24 lbs is not too crazy considering its size and bass output. Tribit Stormbox blast is probably enough speaker for most people. 12lbs (like the JBL Boombox) $5000 is silly $ for BT speakers unless you need a high output PA speaker like the EV Everse12 or an array of Soundboks .

I had a Tribit Blast and it kicked ass. Picked up a Uboom X and it kicked ass too but was a little bit lighter and $50 less than the Blast. LG XBoom Stage 301 and the W-king x-20 are louder boomboxes than the Tribit & Earfun... Also check out the ZEALOT ZE21 if you need a speaker that can push the mids and hit harder down low than a Tribit Blast 2 on battery. I had four Motion Booms, A motion Boom Plus and a Tribit Blast. The blast was best for deep bass. Gave away the heavy Blast to make room for the lighter Earfun UboomX which is $109 at amazon and supposed to match the output of the Blast & Blast2.

I am not ever going to put a 25lb Partybox 120 in a backpack! Hauling around a 12 lb Tribit Blast was bad enough. The 35lb Soundbox is lightweight for a battery powered PA speaker but only needed for really noisy outdoor events & big parties . Overkill for most IMO. The 5lb Motion Boom Plus had a good power to weigh ratio. (Half the weight of a Earfun UboomX).

You can still get The lighter Earfun UboomX for around $130 (or a pair for just $260)! 9lbs vs 15lbs The quality & design of the xdobo looks premium compared to the plastic Tribit & Earfun.

Get a bigger speaker if you want "sub bass". I have a Motion + and it is great for it's size but not going to thump any sub woofer frequencies. The Soundcore Motion Boom/Select Pro put out much better bass. (I have a Mifa Wildbox that is very similar the soundcore Motion Boom in bass output). Had a few of the Soundcore Booms and they had great bass but it did not extend into the sub-bass region. Eons ago I had a compact Doss XL that Oluv was a big fan of and it had amazing low bass for the size but developed some rattles at high output and now living at work. I had heavyass Tribit Blast that could really rumble but at 12lbs was not that "portable". (Almost too much bass indoors !) Gave the Tribit Blast to a friend and going to try out the newer & cheaper and lighter Earfun Uboom X. Might want to check out the Harmon Kardon Studio speakers if you like the HIFI sound and from my memory did a grat job with sub-bass. I never grabbed a Uboom L because I had Motion + but I think most reviewers thought the bass was better and more extended on the U-boom L.

I've bought a lot of speakers for mobile pa purposes. Hard to find something louder than the blast for the size, but it has no battery indicator and the 3-6k region sounds smoothed over. Uboom X isn't as good outdoors, has nicer out of the box eq presets and is better at low volumes for indoor use. Brought two of them to a party for wired stereo use.

Soundcore's best products are the Motion+, Soundcore 3, Liberty NC, and Space One. They're the best deals for what they are. JBL's though are better but their prices don't justify the price difference for comparable products.

# Introduction Context for those interested—skip ahead if you just want the deets. I prefer a wide, airy, and open sound, with bass where its presence is felt, not announced. I enjoy the deep below 80Hz bass as it adds weight and fullness, but I reject boomy or extra bass. It ruins most music to have the 100–250Hz range boosted to all hell. I also tend to prefer a more pronounced and separated midrange to feel vocals, synths, and other instruments. This is the most important part of any piece of music. It's where the core of the sound comes from; without it, it sounds weak, hollow; too much of it and everything is shouting and jumbled. It requires true mastery and knowledge to balance out the mids, and>!the Earfun **does not** nail this range as opposed to the Blast.!< # The Review For reference, I tested a few tracks from Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead, Casiopea, T-SQUARE, some other Japanese 80s City Pop artists, Mastodon, Architects, Loathe, the Risk of Rain 2 Soundtrack, and some more metal and some pop albums. I also watched the a few minutes of Arcane and Blade Runner 2049 over and over again using different eqs and whatnot. I honestly don't know how to start on this, so I'll just jump to the conclusion - **neither of them is the best**, they are both compromising on something to achieve something else, it's up to you to determine what is more important. Objective measurements on these two do not paint a full story - therefore I want to provide a more informed comparison on a musical aspect. # TLDR I decided to keep the Earfun Uboom X purely for the stereo imaging, but this decision was not made without feeling unsatisfied. The sound stage was the single deciding for my use cases. The Tribit has the better sound signature but lacks stereo separation. # TLDR For people just want a boombox for parties and outdoors Either one of them will work, get the cheapest one. They are both built decently, both IP7 but the Earfun is also dust-proof. They match in loudness although Tribit distorts less but the Earfun has slightly more bass. # Extras * **Cost** \- I purchased the Earfun for 160 euro, but there are some other options depending on where you live but I'll assume that it costs the same as the Tribit even though I got the Tribit for cheaper. They are around the same price range and it's all that matters. If you find either at an extreme discount, like below 100 dollaroos or euros, just buy it. These are easily competition for the JBL boombox at a fraction of the cost. * **Build Quality** \- They don't feel all that durable, as in if they fell from 4 feet, they would most likely be permanently damaged. Be careful where you put them. I would say the Tribit feels heftier (possibly due to the extra weight) but the plastic they both use looks absolutely identical. The buttons feel better on the Tribit but that's about all I can say on this topic. They feel better than their price but JBL easily takes the cake if you want a point of reference. * **Lights** \- They both have lights but if you are one of them RGB lights everywhere people, you will prefer the tribit. The earfuns lights are less "in your face". You can customize them slightly on the earfun and a fair bit more on the tribit. However the first thing I did was disable this waste of energy on a bluetooth speaker. It is notable that the earfun doesn't turn off the lights, you have to actually set the light to black. * **App** \- They are both awful but the earfun eq is slightly more customizable than the tribit. I'll touch on the Oluvs changes later on. And finally we get to the only thing that matters. # The Sound # Tribit Stormbox Blast The Tribit is a classic example of a near perfect product only to be squandered by some tragic failure. In it's case, it's the INABILITY TO ACTUALLY BE STEREO. But I'll get to it. The bass matches my preference on not being exaggerated and annoying - it's smooth and decently deep. It might be funnily or depressingly the range that has the most separation on this speaker. Wide reeses and orchestral low end sounds unreal. The rumble from stuff happening in Blade Runner is also pretty immersive. However it is important to note that I did boost the 80hz and cut on the 150hz. I would like more control over this but this is all that is offered in the app's EQ. The high end is crisp, not metallic or shiny, but smooth - also my preferred type of sound. Even when cranking it, they didn't become ear piercing or over the top. The provide more than enough information whilst maintaining excitement. Now for its focal point - the midrange. It is perfect. For this price, on a bluetooth speaker? Absolutely mind boggling. In Arcane's The bridge opening, Powders voice cuts right through the mix; the shots from the soldiers sound heavy and scary; the airship passing over the group feels like it's actually gliding over the air. In Blade Runner the overall sounds of any and everything that happens in the initial confrontation. Man Dave Bautista's voice sounds so rich through this beast. K shooting him and his body hitting the ground. Every single thing has weight, not just from the low end. In music, the vocals just fill the room. They are the center of attention, magnetizing your ears to the melodies being played or sang. It's exciting to hear casiopeas guitar solos; to hear con lentitud poderosa when all the weight of it hits; to hear the power from the guitars on metal and rock tracks; to hear the rich timbres of jazz singers. It is THE selling point of this speaker, if you enjoy natural sounding speakers and pay particular attention to vocal and instrumental performances, this is undoubtedly the right choice. Unfortunately, for all the praise I can give it, deservedly so, my personal preference is not fully satisfied due to one singular issue - the stereo imaging, separation, width, 3d sound - whatever you want to call it - does not exist. Standing in front of the speaker I still could not discern left and right. All of the sounds feel like they are coming straight from the center of the speaker. The frequency separation is great, you can tell all the instruments apart, but the stereo separation is god-awful. There is no feel of immersion on most of the tracks. The audio doesn't surround you. You can always pinpoint it's source straight to the speaker. There are no reflections in the room to give the illusion of width since it literally fires straight forward. If this is the most important aspect for your use cases then it is a deal breaker. It was for me. # Earfun Uboom X And this is where this other speaker comes in. The earfun offers width that would take 2 tribits to emulate. However it is a worse overall speaker in terms of sound quality. You cannot talk about this speaker without talking about the app and Oluvs tunings as they are more than just simple EQs and also one of my biggest gripes with this blasted speaker. So I'll try to break it down in an accessible way - Oluv was a youtuber that reviewed bluetooth speakers thoroughly - some drama happened I don't care about - but he worked on tuning the earfun on more steps in the dsp than just the eq. This essentially just means that It's not just an eq but also other changes in the amplification, stereo imaging, volume control, etc. So in these Oluv's modes you get his personal taste doing the very best possible on the constraints of the quality of the hardware itself. This would be fine for most people since he made a few varied alternatives. For most cases Indoor+ is the best mode, it focuses on the extension of the bass whilst making the rest of the audio as stereo as possible and this is the mode I felt was closer to my taste. However, there is a massive issue in that we are not allowed to change the EQ component of the DSP chain in Oluvs modes. So if I want to make the most out of the width of the speaker I'm stuck with his taste on eq, which again, is probably fine for most people, but I felt that the bass was excessive on the 100-200 range and I wanted to push the mids a bit. But that option simply does not exist, you have to use the normal earfun DSP chain to use your own EQ. Why? Who decided this? This is just plain and simple stupidity and poor design. With all this nonsense on the app as context, I'll try to do my best to balance the 3 settings that I used, the Indoor+, Outdoor and my own eq through the original DSP. My eq focused on reducing the excessive top end of the bass and elevating the mids as much as possible, so keep that in mind. The bass is deep - that much is undeniable. It's not smooth like the tribit, but it is cleaner. You can discern the notes from the sub bass tones from the kick of the drums. If you prefer, you can make it even punchier with the Indoor+, where the low end becomes the focus. The high end is the opposite of the tribit, it's metallic and artificial sounding. It is far more exciting and energetic if that is your cup of tea, and the width is most noticible here. Bits and pieces of sound design on Arcane appear all over the speaker, a true stereo image being presented. The provide enough detail but they might not be to everyone's taste, and it only gets more metallic-y with the Outdoor and Outdoor+ modes. The midrange is it's weak point, again, opposite to the tribit. It lacks weight. Even when trying to elevate it with the eq it fails to form a shape. It's there, it's more than immersive, but it lacks the attention grabbing sound. Unfortunately none of the Oluv's settings focus on the midrange, and with that, there is not much else to say. It does the job but without much distinction. # Closing Thoughts They are both outstanding speakers, the fact that these cost about the same as my old charge 3 when I first bought it should tell you everything about the market we currently have. It is the best time to purchase speakers and JBL, BOSE, SONY, HARMON KARDON, have to respond. They are not worth 4 times the price. I ended up choosing the earfun even though it didn't match my preferences since immersion was the most important aspect for my current needs. It feels like a compromise since I was cursed with buying the tribit first and experiencing what could have been. Comparison is the thief of joy.

In fact I have an early tunable prototype of the Blast which has quite superior hardware and could be pushed even more than what Tribit did but I never took the effort to play around with it more as they never gave me any go to try something and probably wouldn’t have paid me anything. I am still glad I had the chance to try what I did for Earfun as this showed me how overpriced most products are in the audio world. Companies don’t even try to squeeze out what is possible out of a given hardware but rather want the consumer to buy the next crap the release with some useless new features but no real changes at all, best example is JBL… In the end I learned a lot and am satisfied with the result and would definitely love to try something similar or even better but it’s unlike this will ever happen. May I ask which of my settings are you referring to? Did you even use the all. Honestly, Studio 7 is a joke, the boom plus 2 even more not even talking about the Sony,this is plain terrible and a boomy distorting mess and you hear the Earfun owerpowering with bass, are you serious? There must be indeed a huge problem on your side, maybe you had some defective unit. The Stormbox Blast is indeed decent but it’s objectively worse sound wise so really not sure what you seem to be hearing.

In reality Earfun engineers were founders of Tribit some years ago, thus speakers like the Xsound Go, Maxsound Plus, their headphones which I also was involved were all developed by the current Earfun team but they decided to separate and do their own thing with a new company. It took quite a bit until Tribit released something decent after that with the Blast being the first (and maybe last) gem they managed. Honestly the Blast 2 is a desaster soundwise despite all the hype. 

If you love big bass with clean sound, the Tribit Stormbox Blast is a solid choice for both indoor and outdoor use. It delivers powerful bass and gets pretty loud. If portability matters more, the Soundcore Boom 2 is a great option for the price. You can also check Sendico for more options, they help with purchasing and shipping directly from Japan.

UBOOM X has full time discount and with code UBOOMXXX you can get it for 104$. So quite a bit cheaper than the blast 1, even tho I got it quite cheap too for around 170$. I don't know how high you cranked both up, but blast 1 becomes extremely sharp at 100%, if you get like 2 steps before 100% you get none of that

The Earfun UBoom X has been the answer for a while. It used to be the Tribit Stormbox Blast a couple years ago. In another 6-12 months, something will supercede the X but for now it's your best choice.

Read through the whole thing and immediately was thinking, "is this really the same speaker I have?". From your description of the blast I'd assume that it's a multi-thousand dollar speaker setup lol. Although I say that, I still agree that it's crazy what you get for the price, as it rivals even my studio monitors while practically having a subwoofer stuck to it, all while being portable and durable. I appreciate the fact that even though the uboom x was the choice in the end, you still mentioned all of the downfalls of it. Personally I might pick one up purely from the consistent reviews of it having a better low-end than the blast. All this reviewing makes me wonder, if you were to forego the "portable Bluetooth speaker" form factor, how good could you get? I hope some company in the future tries this, as these speakers are barely bigger than a center channel but hit like a truck even when compared to larger speakers of the same price. Your review is much appreciated and I believe it will be very helpful to future buyers comparing these two speakers and filtering through the biased reviews!

Yeah i think 2 tribit stormbox blast or 2 earfun uboom x would be pretty dang good

I’ve owned JBL Charge and Xtreme, and the Stormbox Blast blows them away. Bigger, heavier, but the sound is way more impactful and the battery life is immense.

The only speaker that sounds good out of the box that I could think of is the tribit stormbox blast. Every budget soundcore/tribit speakers need a good eq to sound really good. The difference is night and day. U only have to set them once tho

Probably because of the lights. It gets really bright. You can turn it off anytime. This thing lasts a full work shift at 50% vol and will have 60% battery left in my experience

Ouh i was talking about blast 1. It sounds so much better than 2 in every single reviews I have no plans of upgrading. Blast 2 is just louder and "boomier"

The Tribit will definitely outplay a Charge 5, that's for sure. It's also a lot larger, which may not be an issue. It also comes right under the wire for the OP's budget. Good recommendation.

I don’t think I’m a bot but the Earfun Uboom X is genuinely a great speaker that, for lack of a better term, punches above its weight. The EQ profiles and design give a lot of options for different settings where you might use it. Something that has to be said is that speakers will never last as long as they’re advertised when they are used outdoors at high volumes. I’d say the advertised playtimes are closer to what you’d get at 30-50% volume. I have the original Stormbox Blast and it’s nice, but the A/C charging limits its versatility imo. Something USB charged like the Uboom X would be easier to charge with a powerbank to extend its playtime when on a boat where you may be using it. I don’t dislike established brands like JBL and Sony, but it’s undeniable that you’re paying a decent chunk for the name and the sonic performance isn’t strictly better on something like the Boombox 3 vs the Uboom X.

That's exactly what I did and finally could hear the stereo separaration as it should be 🔥. Expensive solution but worth it.

Another vote for the Tribit Stormbox Blast (original, not the 2). Won every time I compared it directly to the UBOOM X, which sounded hollow in comparison. I can see someone thinking the UBoom is slightly better if they like that sound profile better but be wary of reviews that make it sound like the best speaker all the time. Something odd about those reviews. Just buy them both from a retailer which allows easy returns and make your own decision.

My experience: I ordered the Soundcore Boom 2, the UBoom X, and Tribit Blast. I know everyone has their own opinion, but here’s mine. I liked the Blast the best for its musicality, loudness, vocal clarity, and having an Aux In for a better TV sounds (especially baseball games). Next was the Boom 2, which sounds warmer but not quite as room filling, it’s great, smaller size, and for not much more $, the ability to have two linked together (but no Aux In). Also, the Blast seems to charge faster with its direct Ac plug in and longer lasting battery. I found the UBoom to not sound quite as good as the other two. I’d love to get others’ opinions in case I missed something.

Thank you for the detailed review and for sharing your impressions. If you use Oluv's DSP programs you have to consider the following. These tend to be tuned towards the Smiley Curve. That means emphasized bass and treble (I know, the studio mode has strongly reduced bass, I try to stay general). In addition, there is also strong sound processing, such as stereo enhancement and compressor. You pay a high price for this, as details, resolution and dynamics of the music are lost. It is precisely in the mid-range, where important elements of the music such as vocals, instrument harmonies (guitar, keyboard, piano, brass instruments, snare and toms from the drums) are located, that the DSP programs weaken dramatically. To exaggerate, you could say that most of what you hear at the end is a droning boom-boom and a screeching hiss, hiss. With Oluvs DSP programs, the UBOOM X sounds like a different speaker. I mean that in an absolutely negative way. You describe yourself that you missed the midrange there. That's not the case with our own EQs. Ok, then of course you have to do without the stereo enhancement. A second speaker could be a good substitute for this. 😉 I also once had the opportunity to compare the Blast with the UBOOM X. I felt that the UBOOM X even had a slight advantage over the Blast in terms of overall sound quality and authenticity of music reproduction. What you say about the sound of the UBOOM X, I can't really understand. For me, the mids are very present and well balanced, the highs are detailed and crisp and remain pleasant over a wide volume range. I have to qualify these statements, as they refer to a portable Bluetooth speaker. Of course, the UBOOM X can't quite keep up with the sound of a good hi-fi system. This also applies to the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3, the B&W Formation Wedge, the Sonos Move 2 or the JBL Authentics 300/500, everyone must be aware of this. But the UBOOM X is undoubtedly very well positioned among other Bluetooth speakers, some of which have a significantly higher price tag.

Your whole account is uboom x spamming, I never said it wasnt a good speaker but your trying to say it's better than it is, probably for financial gain when it has issues when using any of oluvs EQ's in tws and party mode. The stormbox blast is a better more realistic sounding speaker without any special tuning that doesnt suffer with stuttering in tws and isn't much more in money, granted its bigger heavier and less travel friendly due to not having tws but it's far from dead and is the best in it's price range, ie slighty more As a stand alone speaker, uboom x is probably the best speaker in its price range, because of oluvs EQ'S bring it to life, but only being able to use it on 1 speaker at a time feels like an unfinished product pump and dump. It's funny you have not mentioned this in just 1 of your posts despite the app even saying it stutters using oluvs EQ's

Stormbox blast 2 that I have has very good bass.. it's under your price point.. can't really suggest anything else because besides a jbl extreme 2 that's all I have... the jbl has no bass compared to the stormbox.. again it's a extreme 2.. not 4.

I found in the shower once you get to boombox speakers the bass is overwhelming and takes away from the rest of the song. I honestly prefer my motion 300 over my Stormbox blast in the shower because it's clearer and the bass isn't overwhelming.

Did the new update fix the boominess, I returned mine and got two Stormbox blasts 2 and are incredible when EQ’d

JBL Charge 5, Boom 2, SoundLink Max, JBL Boombox 3, StormBox Blast, GO + Play 3. I returned them all. I would have kept Boombox 3 if I didn't feel like Boombox 4 was going to come out.

I have two Boom 2's and a MegaBoom and none of them compare to my Stormbox Blast. Even when they're linked up. The Booms are a bummer these days.

For 30-40 people outside a charge might not be loud enough. Try a Sony xg300 or soundcore boom 2 at least. Better a soundcore motion boom plus 1/2, sony ult 7 or Tribit stormbox blast 1/2, or jbl encore.

A lag free Aux like the Motion+ is the best you'll do or similar devices (some boomboxes like Tribit or Earful). Some Aux ports carry lots of lag so you need to look at test specs. Alan Ross at the end of his vids show the Aux lags. VERY useful info.
