In terms of direct competitors the boom 2 plus and og stormbox blast
well i dont have two of each, only the blast! just bought another one (2024) and it sounds better than my last one (2022).
i think you mean brighter! no i really hear the opposite, details stand out better for me on blast and boom 2 plus. 0.48 firmware is the latest on my uboom x. I have no intention of paying for further firmware's. Just to clarify are you saying uboom x sounds better than the blast and boom 2 plus only on olafs firmwares?
It can put out some decent bass also on the go play 3 when you use the eq that most miss but its in the manual. How you liking the blast? I dont think its overhyped to be fair at that price but yeah, question marks over reliability. But even then they had no issues returning it. I agree on the Helsinki. I think once people mention immersion though they really need a pair of something. Maybe a pai of boom 2s might just be in budget.
stormbox blast can be had in the uk at £95. it will destroy the x600.
The holy grails are HK Go and Play 3, Teufel Boomster and Tribit Stormbox Blast.
From best to worst 1. Soundcore motion + 2. Klipsch nashville 3. Sony ult field 5 & tribit stormbox lava (tie) 4. Marshall emberton 3 & Bose soundlink flex 2 (tie) 5. Kef muo 6.tribit stormbox blast (OG) & Earfun uboom x(tie) 7. Soundcore boom 2 & x600 8. Harman kardon onyx studio 6 9. UE everboom, wonder boom & epicboom Soundcore motion + has been discontinued and has no ip dust rating Klipsch nashville, kef muo, bose soundlink flex 2, and harman kardon onyx studio 6 are mono format speakers Sony ult field 5, tribit stormbox lava & blast, earfun u boom x, Soundcore boom 2 & x600, UE epicboom and HK onyx studio 6 are all pretty large. The Marshall emberton 3, UE everboom & epic boom are 360⁰ speakers this is subjectively worse than a forward firing speaker for soundquality.
I have the woburn 2, go+play 3, stormbox micro and blast, soundcore motion+, onyx 7 This is my new favorite for my gym, sounds good without being super loud . Much better soundstage vs the motion+ and flatter shape makes it easier to carry in a bag when traveling. I use it in my gym when i dont want to blast music with one of the boomboxes
I don't think the speakers you have in mind are powerful enough for your application. I would at least choose a speaker from the boombox class, such as the W-King X20, the Tribit StormBox Blast 1 or 2, or, if you can still get it, an EarFun UBOOM X, which offers the best value for money. The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus/Pro is quite light, but I deliberately put it at the bottom of my list.
I'd vote for Tribit for boombox category. Stormbox Blast is still unbeatable with its price/performance ratio IMO.
