I had a Tribit Stormbox. Awesome bass and that was the best boombox you could get for under $200 IMO. Earfun Uboom X is my go to budget blaster now but if you need something more portable and lighter than 9lbs check out some reviews of the Soundcore Boom 2 or even more compact Bose flex2.
Tribit Micro is a great pocket speaker. Earfun Uboom X is a high value bass blaster. Bose soundlink flex is a nice middle ground speaker and the JBL flip & Charge have good bass for the size.
New Pill is supposed to be decent. Bose Flex is a nice compact speaker that fits in backback too. Earfun uboom L is that weight category and a good budget option. I have a Soundcore Motion Plus that has worked well for a few years. It is a heavy little speaker compared to the ones mentioned above. I have a little Tribit stormbox mico for crusin on the bike that does a good job for it's small size.
> tribit xsound plus Not sure about the new X-sound plus 2. I had a little Tribit Xsound go that was fairly neutral and own a Tribit Micro that is great for the size. I would not call them "dark" or bass heavy. Just kind of flat. I think you would want to use the eq and cut the highs if you are sensitive to those frequencies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8tm3FwCkWM I had big ass Tribit Blast that really thumped but it is not "portable". Bose soundlink Flex is probably going to sound better but it is $150 and the Tribit is half the price. In the sub $100 range the Soundcore motion Boom is still a contender if you like the bass.
I replaced my old ue Roll with a little Tribit stormbox micro and it was a nice improvement in bass & battery. I have a Motion + and it is not as portable as the Tribit Micro or JBL Flip but gets much louder if necessary. In the sub 2lb speaker category the Earfun Uboom L is probably the best bang for the buck.
Manufactures do not always rate "watts" the same and often exaggerate the numbers. The off-brand 200watt BT speaker might have 10 watts rms. Tribit Micro is a decent speaker for the size. The smaller Select go 5 will be easier to clip to a belt but I would prefer the bass from the Tribit.
Soundcore select 4 go. Better sound and less expensive than the JBL tiny sized speakers. My Tribit stormbox micro fits in a big jacket pocket. The Micro 2 is often recommended around here.
I am guessing it was little can sized Tribit Stormbox that is about the size of the JBL Flip. Look at the Soundcore Boom 2 for a good upgrade in output. A Tribit Lava would also be a decent upgrade.
Megablast weighs 2.4lbs (About the same weight as my Soundcore Motion plus. I have a .6lb Tribit Micro that does a nice job for its size but it does not have much bass outdoors. (It straps on to handlebars easily). A speaker like the JBLflip weighs about 1lb and has more bass than my little Tribit. The Earfun Uboom L is just a little bit heavier than a Flip but has better sound and costs less. At 1.4lbs it is a whole lb. less than the Megaboom. The small Uboom will sound better than the Tribit Micro or any of the extra small speakers so I would consider that option if you want something significantly smaller than a hyperboom that does not sacrifice your sound .
Biggest outdoor speaker I would consider that does not cost a fortune and fits in a backpack is the Tribit Lava. There are blue JBL Charge 6 speakers at Walmart for $119. Those are popular and fairly compact, (tiny bit smaller than the $56 Earfun Uboom L). I normally use a little Tribit Stormbox Micro for personal use outdoors. Love the form factor and think sound is good for the size. You can get a pair of those little suckers from aliexpress for around $70.
The OG Tribit Stormbox is a 1.2lb speaker. The Jbl Flip 6&7 and the Earfun Uboom L are about the same size/weight and get good reviews. Soundcore Motion 300 and Bose Soundlink Flex are also popular compact speakers. I use a smaller Tribit Micro when on the go and it sounds really good considering how small it is.
My original model from Tribit is holding up great, zero issues with the battery/sound after about 4 years of occasional use. My buddy just lost his BT speaker and needs something for his bicycle asap otherwise I would keep it. The only speaker of this size that i know of that beats the Tribit Micro 1 in sound quality is the Tribit Micro 2. Good quality/design & better value than UE & JBL imo. You have to step up to a larger & heavier speaker to get anything that sounds better. Some people on this forum have a beef with Earfun but the $50 Uboom L is another good sounding high value speaker that just killed it in every speaker shootout on youtube and is the next size up from the Tribit micro.
I’ve wondered the same thing. Even small Bluetooth speakers were always stereo originally. If you remember, the first few generations of the HK Onyx Studio, JBL Charge, JBL Flip, etc., were all stereo, then suddenly everything was mono. I can understand it for the very smallest speakers - Bose Micro, Tribit Micro, JBL Go, etc. - it wouldn’t make sense to try to cram dual speakers into those tiny housings or to try to create stereo sound in such a small space, but with the rest of them, I don’t get it. The only thing I can think of is the ‘race for the bass.’ After a while, it evolved to where all anyone cared about was ‘how much bass is there?’ and if companies could cram 1 large woofer into the same space that had once held 2, or even 4, smaller speakers, they could produce much more bass. The other possibility, as someone suggested when I asked basically the same question on another post a couple of weeks ago, is so that companies can now force you to buy 2 speakers instead of 1 if you want stereo sound.
I use dual Tribit StormBox Micro 2. More info @ [https://youtu.be/2dXVm38UOs4](https://youtu.be/2dXVm38UOs4)
I have 2 of them for TWS.
Micro(2), Blast(2) and Lava are great. XSound Plus (2) and Stormbox(2) alright, but there are better speakers in that size imo. Stormbox Mini(2) just blows.

Love Tribit! We got the StormBox Micro and it sounds really good for being so small. I love that it has a strap to mount it to bike handles. I have a JBL roughly the same size and I think the Tribit has a better bass. And it was cheaper than the JBL too. The StormBox Micro is going on 6 years with moderate use.
The Tribit and Soundcore speakers are solid. Soundcore Glow is good, have heard this items, and Glow mini is still good but small. The Tribit Micro is a good one too. I also heard the Soundcore Select 4 at Costco usa. It sounded good too.
If I'm traveling alone, none. If I'm traveling with my wife or other people, I bring the Tribit Stormbox Micro. It's small, has decent battery life and USB-C. It's louder than I need it to be as I'm not trying to have anyone else here it. My wife and I enjoy having it in our accomodations. We do not bring it anywhere else.
I have the OG Tribit stormbox micro. The thing sounds amazing and it won't die. I've been waiting to upgrade to the 2 but this thing sounds amazing and it just won't quit
