Tribit speakers have had an issue with dying and refusing to take a charge after 18-24 months, something to do with the internal wiring. Great speaker, shame about the longevity.
These are both good. The Stormbox is their main medium sized personal speaker, and the mini gives you similar sound in a smaller speaker, but they are all good speakers. I have the Ue Wonderboom that is similar to mini in size. Still gives you plenty of sound.
I am guessing it was little can sized Tribit Stormbox that is about the size of the JBL Flip.
Look at the Soundcore Boom 2 for a good upgrade in output.
A Tribit Lava would also be a decent upgrade.
If you like a exciting sound profile with capable bass then do tribit stormbox lava, I got one and with a Lil bit of eq tuning I had it sounding exactly how I dreamed
