"It’s taken 50-60mph gusts on front, rear and side with no issues."

"Very simple design and it's built well (it has even accidentally fallen to the bottom of my pool one time, pulled it out, kept playing and has had no issues)"

"ate the rain and wind storms with no issues. ... It's a tank."

"I had it set up during a crazy storm and had no water come in it. Really nicely designed"

"I’ve bought both to festivals with multiple severe thunderstorms and was much dryer than people who brought much more expensive tents."

"It is reliable and comfortable, we have slept in it in torrential rain, high heat, ~34 degree nights with frost developing on it; all of that has left it with no damage and solid water repelling still after all of that happening on multiple trips."

"It gets much louder than JBL flip ... I just want good and loud sound for outdoors."

"After using it, I can confidently say it has superior sound quality to my Anker soundcore and Amazon echo speakers that I have mostly used in the past. ... I have to say, I ’m pretty surprised at how good it sounds. ... I’d say for use in a shop or work environment, it’s quite good given how much background noise there could be."

"I could hear it loud and clear, with bumping bass. ... When on full, it sounds like somebody is throwing a loud house party."

"No it doesnt. it rolls of massively starting 65hz. ... at 60hz, you're already -10 db, which makes itvery muted compared to the rest. ... Anything under will be almost inexistant to human ears"

"Horrible bass. ... Could not hear myself until I upgraded to some nicer mackies."

"I started with the Shure 215 and it had NO bottom end (atleast not to my taste)."

"Given that the battery on any of them will die at some point, and cannot be replaced, are any of these really BIFL?"

I have a tiny UE Boom I got for free when I bought a Samsung s8. I got the phone after it had been out for two years. Speaker still works flawlessly. Can’t even remember when I got it, maybe 2015?

Ultimate ears Boom 4. 360° sound, fits in a cup holder, waterproof, has a flap over charge port, fantastic sound and you can pair multiple together.

So basically marketing has done their job well, rooks know 3-4 brands that’s it. Not even UltimateEars made it to the list :/

Overpriced? It’s 150€ for a boom 4. Jbl is 120€. That is an insignificant price diff. I have mine for well over 5 years and I bought it used. Hardly an argument

I can't comment on the Hyperboom as I've never heard one. However, I have heard various generations of the Boom and Megaboom and I can tell you that these definitely don't sound good at all.

Everything in the UE Boom/Blast lineup has been great for me. I've got 2 Booms and a Megablast currently. The oldest Boom is at least 10 years old and still performs flawlessly.

I bought one of the Ultimate Ears Boom 2 years ago and have never needed to buy another. Great bit of kit, maybe you can find one NOS

Haha, well, I’m sure plenty of people enjoy the UE Boom series. Personally, though, I’m not a fan of the driver layout. I find that directional speakers offer a more enjoyable listening experience, instead of having the left and right channels fired in opposite directions away from my ears for "360 degree sound".

Not really, it’s the sound in general. It’s not a great sounding speaker.

The ratings are done mostly from people who are not aware of what a good sounding speaker is like. Also, it’s hard to rate something when you’re not comparing it to anything else - if you never put the UE Boom side by side against a JBL charge, you’d always think your UE sounds great

I don’t think it has a better design. Many would say it’s based on preference, but in reality, the UE Boom is much more compact and rugged (the whole point of a portable speaker), and its a shame really that they’re not pushing the sound of a JBL

That’s the thing. You think they’re amazing until you put your megabooms against a JBL charge. You’re of course going to think they’re insanely good. It’s like giving someone a sweet, and they think that’s the best thing ever, until you give them hardcore drugs like heroin, they’re gonna love that shit much more than they love sweets

It’s a shame really cause they have a great design and durability. Wish the sound was on par with JBL’s

Listen if you want premium build quality and good quality sound then go for Beats Pill 2024 or Bose Flex 2nd gen. If you want loudness and rugged speaker that you can rough use a lot, go for Ultimate Ears Boom4 or Sony Ult1 or JBL Flip6. Please don’t go for Chinese brands because they don’t last long.
