Still have a Megaboom 2 somewhere and all in all pretty decent for what it is. I will say I have been pretty happy with the Sonos Move and Move 2. I have one of each and will say the Move 2 is really pretty good for a portable speaker.
I really like listening to electronic music with dark synth, goth rock, witchhouse, industrial, sometimes metal, hyperpop, ethereal music, shoegaze - and other times like singer-songwriters. I will mostly be using the speaker in my house like my bedroom and at my PC. I like listening to music like all day though. I had a UE Megaboom 2 I was happy with for many years, it broke though. Now I want a replacement and my budget is $30-$70 and I'll probably get it used. I ordered a Sony SRS-XB23 and returned it because I didn't think it sounded as good as my old Megaboom. I've looked at JBL flip 6, and Tribit Xsound go, or a Wonderboom. What would be a good speaker?
I have a Megaboom 1 or 2 and I’ve been using it daily for probably around 15 years! Still works perfectly
I've gone thru countless BT speakers, from JBL Extreme 2,3. UE Megaboom, Hyperboom. Soundcore Motion Plus. Sony XB43. All were non keepers and were sold or one that was sub par was given away. Oh yeah, Marshall Kilburn 3 too. I have one now, the Sony ULT 5 its the only speaker that 100% percent sound balanced. Its plenty loud and can bring it with bass, clarity. I don't even use the Ult 1 or 2 features as I find it bass heavy already its in standard sound mode. I clearly as you can tell love it. Edit, well you can't get one for 150, but there are refurbished ones on ebay for 83 shipped.
I don't have 2 or 3. I've tried Extreme 2,3. Soundcore Motion boom plus. UE Hyperboom and Megaboom. Boombox 3. XB43, Kilburn III I just knew from the get go the Ult 5 was the one for me. It sounds better at lower volume than high for some reason. I can hear all the details better. Sometimes you just click with a sound signature.
Ultimate Ears megaboom rocks. Have and one for nearly 10 years and still punches bass and had great battery and water proofing.
I can't comment on the Hyperboom as I've never heard one. However, I have heard various generations of the Boom and Megaboom and I can tell you that these definitely don't sound good at all.
