Ultimate Ears - MEGABOOM 3

I have both? Party mode kinda sucks, it kills the bass and just makes it loud. I'd rather have two in normal mode, they'll sound way better. I have 2 Sony XG300s and a field one I use. Also have 2 UE Megaboom 3s and a Hyperboom. I'd definitely go TWS or get a hyperboom/Ult Field 7 or something similar.

Hey everyone, I'm on the hunt for a Bluetooth speaker that sounds great at medium volumes, can handle trips to the beach (needs to be rugged), and is built to last. I’m not looking for something that will die on me after a year. I'm a longtime UE Boom user—my first-gen lasted me years, and then I upgraded to a Megaboom 3, which sounded great but sometimes had connection glitches. Unfortunately, I lost it recently. I’m considering either the UE Epicboom or the new Megaboom 4. Does anyone have experience with these or recommendations for other speakers? Thanks!

Oh yes, I've been experiencing the same issue when comparing my $250 Logitech UE megaboom 3 and my $70 Onn. Large Rugged from Walmart. (Not only cheaper, but much more features). I won't get anything else from UE.

My 2 cents - amazing speakers, have a MegaBoom 3 right now and let me tell you it sounds miles better than what i’ve owned before. The vocals are clear, the details are crisp, and the bass is very nice, although it is not the kind of deep-overpowered and artificial bass that for example JBL has. The build quality is amazing, thing is a tank (99% sure it could stop a bullet). I have it for 5-6 years now, pretty much bought it right after release and its still every bit as good as it was out of the box. And I use it day and night, summer and winter, water or ice, be it +30C or -30C whatever. Battery is still great, can hold all day without break for sure. I don’t see why so many people keep bashing these speakers for their uniqueness (especially in sound department) and somehow MegaBoom lineup gets the most hate. For me its the best and i’ve owned dozen of them from different brands.

I just got the soundcore boom 2 and I have enjoyed it so far. It's $100 and you can pair them together. The base is very impressive probably the best base I have heard on a Bluetooth speaker. My previous speaker was a UE Megaboom 3 for reference.

Did you end up picking one? I used Rtings.com and was deciding between the Megaboom 3 or 4 and Charge 5. Megaboom has a better outdoor sound stage score, due to the 360* tweeter design. Otherwise the specs are very similar. I went with the Charge 5 because it’s newer tech and can also charge my phone for my upcoming trips. Also currently on sale at Target online for $107.

I’ve had a number of booms and mega booms. I’ve had the boom for about 8 years and another mega boom for about 3 years. The battery died on another mega boom after about 5 years. Even after replacing the battery it just never worked the same again.

So this is probably going to invite the opposite opinion… These speakers are NOT BAD. But the PRICE IS HEAVY. Point being, you’ll get more value out of a UE Megaboom or any other speaker for that matter with way less burden on your wallet. But if you have the cash to spend, by all means go for it. Just know the tradeoff: cool tailgate conversation piece that’s pretty convenient at the expense of sound quality. I have the speakers on my new AT4X just because they are standard for that package. And I’m not complaining, for what it’s worth.

I have used JBL Flip 6, Boom 3 and JBL Go 2 and all worked great. i set them on the floor for when I do auffguss and it has never been a problem. I even bring the phone in with me to control the music if needed and if it is in the floor it doesn’t heat up at all

Regular boom is extremely durable and great for biking as it fits in bottle cage. Have not seen another speaker as durable with 360 sound….but many have better bass. Sound is fine for outdoor use….but for sure they are expensive for what they are. My wking x10 blows it away for sound quality….but much bigger/ heavier + glue and materials are falling apart after 2 years.
