Good boombox but heavy @ almost 16 lbs. New Wking X20S is around 9lbs which is chonky but not ridiculous. Soundcore Boom 2 is a compact little boobox that gets loud for it's size and weight but you need lots of speaker watts to overpower a motorboat engine.

The 8lb Soundcore Boom 2 PLUS is a little bit smaller than the 10lb Rockbox XL and going for around $170 . Boom 2 probably sounds better than the Rockbox. Wking X20 is a hefty 16lbs and one of the loudest portables under $200. Try some anti noise earbuds if the machinery is constantly running.

This one is a more muffled but deeper bass version of the w-king x20s that I have. I didn't like it's sound signature much. I wish they wouldn't have recessed the mids like JBL does but the w-king is the opposite. Not as deep but loud and clear and better for more kinds of music because most of the music is in the mids.

I got one and returned it. I did not like the mids on it and the bass was too sloppy. The w-king x20 sounds way better to me. Has more mids than the JBL's and enough bass that sounds clean as heck! It still surprises me as I listen to more and more songs I know well on it.

No. Yours has a sub my man :) It's the better config for sound quality. This thing is just over driven mids. It might go a little lower but with way more distortion.

it does get beat by my w-king x20 tho. It's just a more powerful version of that bb3. It's an incredible thing with huge midrange, not just bass. Sounds great for classic rock

No. A w-king x20 will beat this in sound quality. This thing sounds like muddy subwoofer to me. Over driven drivers. This is expensive for a badge and sounds worse.

Still got mine too. It does indeed sound really good but my w-king x20 dethroned it. Sounds better in every way and not as heavy and way better batt life, louder and more clear as well, but the aiwa will always be used somewhere as well. This thing is quiet as a mouse compared too. the w-king is probably more than twice as loud and has 4x more bass outdoors especially that this old ported guy.. Way more efficient. The w-king also has way better mids. like infinitely better. They look like subwoofers compared to the little neo magnet ones in this. Way undersized and that sub in this, is really only 50W RMS at the most. Actually is 25x2 coils I believe. I looked a long time ago inside mine just to see how it was set up. It's indeed a weird DVC sub. Mids are way undersized for it's output. That was my only gripe with this old beast. 10/10 sound quality otherwise.

I'd go big and spend the money right in the first place. I really like my w-king x20 for outside. You can actually hear full range sound and it can go as loud as you could possibly need.

Get a w-king x20. It has loud loud mids and bass you need for this. Esp the mids though, nobody wants to hear just bass at work like JBL.

yeah this is it. The V shaped sound. Nah. It's not even like it's that bad of a curse, the things just don't have good mids. My aiwa exos 9 does and my w-king x20 and some smaller ones like my anker motion +'s. The rest are pretty annoying. The have no mids so anything with actual substance that is worth listening to sounds like crap.

Don't do this. They can float but it's not designed like that on purpose. Most of these are sealed because they are passive radiator designs and that is what makes them sound so good because if not they sound like crap with any leaks at all. They aren't necessarily water tight to be water proof and it will find it's way in. They can handle a ton of splashes though. Just get a w-king x20. No need to float it. You will feel the sound through the water in the pool and it goes loud as mofo with the best mids/highs I've ever heard out of a portable with plenty of punch plus big deep sub bass. Sounds amazing for all genres and I've listened to 1000s of hours of music on it from 50's to now.

Audiophile my butt. Feel the bass from any of these outdoors either..lolololol.. No. Maybe if you are like 3 feet from em. Too v-shaped for an audiophile. That is normie crap they sell cheap speakers too with no midrange at all and sloppy bass. If he's really an audiophile he'd be happier with two w-king x20's if he's insane or even 1. Good battery life and smaller than these big bastards that aren't even much louder at all either and you can indeed feel the bass but doesn't kill the mids completely like the jbls and those onns.

LOL no. This is bullshit. It's the size of the enclosure and the design of it on top of the room and it's acoustics. My w-king x20 is smaller than this and rattles TF out of my whole 30 foot long RV. It's not got a huge sub but a competent one. You can feel it shaking everything roflmao. Not even just on super bass heavy stuff because I mostly listen to classics. It's amazing how much they got out of those drivers.

I would also suggest some wired stereo speakers for the home. The Edifiers are popular and the 1280 sounds good for the price imo. Check our r/budgetaudiophile for more bookshelf suggestions in that $150 price range. That leaves you $200 for a BT speaker and I think the new Wking X20S is a good option. The old X20 is a bigass 16lb. boombox and the new X20S is about 1/2 the weight. If you still want a single BT speaker the Harmon Kardon Go Plus Play 3 is probably the best you do for an indoor speaker in that price range.

Earfun uboomx x or a Tribit blast will destroy every JBL portable below the $500 JBL Boombox. Soundcore motion boom plus 2 is loud.. W king x20 is even louder. Big party speakers will put out the bass. Tribit stormbox lava going to be louder than a JBL charge if you want a football shaped speaker. You will get the output of JBL extreme at the price of a JBL flip

The Onn Large Party speaker is almost as big as the JBL Partybox (20lbs) but it has mic inputs and is loud and cheap. You could teach aerobics or breakdancing with that unit! Smaller speakers that pack a punch are the W-King X20 and new smaller W-King X20S. The Tribit Blast and Blast 2 are also powerful boomboxes. I guess you can use any speaker with a line in jack since you have a wireless mic.

For small groups of people like that I have found that a pair of robust boomboxes like the Tribit Blast, W-King X20 & X20s or JBL Boombox can deliver plenty of sound at a decent party volume. For casual listening a pair of the new midsized JBL Extereme 4 or lower budget Tribit Lavas would be adequate for me personally. I only bust out the big clunky party speakers for events where 20 or more people need some tunes (Block Party/Sporting Event/). If your neighbors a block away want to hear some bass that is the device to get but it is overkill for most situations.

Pair of speakers at ear level will get you much better coverage of large spaces and a improved stereo image & clarity too. A pair of heavy duty W-King X20 or Zealot ZE21 will run about $400 and get loud and still pump out some bass elevated off the ground. A pair of the JBL Boombox 3 or 4 will cost twice as much but any of those and should get loud enough for anyone.

I bet the solid Tribit Blast and Blast 2 would destroy that old Monster Rock & Roller. You can replace the cheap & heavy lead acid battery in the Monster speaker but I would not bother with it. The W king x-20 and Zealot ze-21 are other lower budget heavy hitters. Good options for those that think the $500 JBL boombox is a bit too expensive. I have a pair of Earfun Uboom X speakers for outdoor parties. Zero regrets and I get wide stereo and deep bass in a compact package.

regardless of price? JBL. For budget, I have always and will always go W-King and would buy these again over my JBL's, mainly because JBL soeakers blow up all the time 1- W - King T12 (OR JBL partybox 230) 2 - W-King D9-1 3 - W-King X20 (amazing sound) 4 - W - King X20s (small, has a handle and a strap can be attached) 5 - Soundcore Boom 2 (it floats and is waterproof)

I directly compared a tribit lava to x20s. If you are ok with listening under 40-50% the tribit lava packs a large punch for the size. Once you go over that...it's the wkingx20s and it's not close. It is about double the size.

2 Wking x20s paired. Under 240 shipped

If the speaker is going to be permanently placed in one room, I would recommend a pair of active Bluetooth bookshelf speakers, e.g. from Edifier. If a portable speaker is wanted that can also be used for other occasions, a slightly larger speaker will be needed to achieve decent audio quality and full hi-fi sound. In my opinion, the best balance of performance and size can be found among the more compact boombox speakers. The best-sounding models in this category are: 1. EarFun UBOOM X (I own two of these speakers and can vouch for their excellent audio quality.) 2. W-King X20S (I only recently took note of this speaker, but initial sound comparisons are very promising) 3. Tribit Stormbox Blast (1st generation) 4. Soundcore Boom 2 Plus/Pro (with a noticeable gap to third place) Unfortunately, the first three speakers are very difficult to find. Even if a used speaker from a private seller is all that can be found, it's still a very good option. In the smaller speaker class, you can't expect such a full sound. But if the above-mentioned speakers are too big for you, the Tribit Strombox Lava would be an acceptable compromise. The portable Bluetooth speakers from Bose, Sony, and JBL lack one thing: good value for money. Don't let it put you off if my post gets downvoted. Firstly, I'm not particularly popular in this sub due to my blunt language and assertive, confident manner, and secondly, there are a large number of fanboys of brand-name products here.

Of the options in a similar weight class, the W-King X20S is the only viable alternative I can see at the moment. Personally, however, I prefer the UBOOM X over the X20S and I really hope that our UBOOM Xs continue to serve us well for a long time to come.

EarFun UBOOM X (As far as I know, it's only available from private sellers now) W-King X20S No Sony, JBL, or Bose speakers in this price range can even come close to matching this.
