This one is a more muffled but deeper bass version of the w-king x20s that I have. I didn't like it's sound signature much. I wish they wouldn't have recessed the mids like JBL does but the w-king is the opposite. Not as deep but loud and clear and better for more kinds of music because most of the music is in the mids.
I would also suggest some wired stereo speakers for the home. The Edifiers are popular and the 1280 sounds good for the price imo. Check our r/budgetaudiophile for more bookshelf suggestions in that $150 price range. That leaves you $200 for a BT speaker and I think the new Wking X20S is a good option. The old X20 is a bigass 16lb. boombox and the new X20S is about 1/2 the weight. If you still want a single BT speaker the Harmon Kardon Go Plus Play 3 is probably the best you do for an indoor speaker in that price range.
For small groups of people like that I have found that a pair of robust boomboxes like the Tribit Blast, W-King X20 & X20s or JBL Boombox can deliver plenty of sound at a decent party volume. For casual listening a pair of the new midsized JBL Extereme 4 or lower budget Tribit Lavas would be adequate for me personally. I only bust out the big clunky party speakers for events where 20 or more people need some tunes (Block Party/Sporting Event/). If your neighbors a block away want to hear some bass that is the device to get but it is overkill for most situations.
I directly compared a tribit lava to x20s. If you are ok with listening under 40-50% the tribit lava packs a large punch for the size. Once you go over that...it's the wkingx20s and it's not close. It is about double the size.
If the speaker is going to be permanently placed in one room, I would recommend a pair of active Bluetooth bookshelf speakers, e.g. from Edifier. If a portable speaker is wanted that can also be used for other occasions, a slightly larger speaker will be needed to achieve decent audio quality and full hi-fi sound. In my opinion, the best balance of performance and size can be found among the more compact boombox speakers. The best-sounding models in this category are: 1. EarFun UBOOM X (I own two of these speakers and can vouch for their excellent audio quality.) 2. W-King X20S (I only recently took note of this speaker, but initial sound comparisons are very promising) 3. Tribit Stormbox Blast (1st generation) 4. Soundcore Boom 2 Plus/Pro (with a noticeable gap to third place) Unfortunately, the first three speakers are very difficult to find. Even if a used speaker from a private seller is all that can be found, it's still a very good option. In the smaller speaker class, you can't expect such a full sound. But if the above-mentioned speakers are too big for you, the Tribit Strombox Lava would be an acceptable compromise. The portable Bluetooth speakers from Bose, Sony, and JBL lack one thing: good value for money. Don't let it put you off if my post gets downvoted. Firstly, I'm not particularly popular in this sub due to my blunt language and assertive, confident manner, and secondly, there are a large number of fanboys of brand-name products here.
Of the options in a similar weight class, the W-King X20S is the only viable alternative I can see at the moment. Personally, however, I prefer the UBOOM X over the X20S and I really hope that our UBOOM Xs continue to serve us well for a long time to come.
EarFun UBOOM X (As far as I know, it's only available from private sellers now) W-King X20S No Sony, JBL, or Bose speakers in this price range can even come close to matching this.
Get smaller wking x20s its same look and 3 way setup with subwoofer, sounds amazing and is half the weight and size
Get the w-king x20s is about 155$ on temu it's got crazy good bass and sound and very light and portable, look it up on youtube, it's super worth it
The X-20 weighs 7 kg, making it almost 70% heavier than the UBOOM X, which weighs 4.15 kg. Its dimensions are also significantly larger. Whether the slightly higher maximum volume of the X-20 is worth it is up to everyone to decide for themselves. For me, it's not. I often use two speakers for stereo sound outdoors. Transporting both of my UBOOM Xs is already a sufficient hassle. I didn't want to add even a slightest bit more.
