https://www.costco.com/acer-156-portable-monitor.product.4000319402.html - works great
I got the cert refurb and it’s been super handy and actually looks really good as far as color and brightness
Here's a cheaper alternative from Acer on Ebay if you don't mind it being 'refurbished': [https://www.ebay.com/itm/256905415945](https://www.ebay.com/itm/256905415945) The two I bought last month when the deal was posted on this sub both showed up in pristine condition.
I have been using an acer montior for classes and sometimes I'll play the rp5 on this as well. Its a pretty good montior and has different modes for display like game and movie mode *
For those that still want to buy, I purchased the same thing from this listing a week and change ago - https://www.ebay.com/itm/267229717756. Great little monitor!
I purchased both the listing that advertised 300 nits and the one I linked, and they ended up being the same SKU. Returned the more expensive one!
I have an Acer PM161Q and it’s pretty solid. I’ve been playing Battlefield 6 all week on it while traveling. 2 USB-C and a mini-hdmi. It can use: 1.) a single USB-C for both video/power(limited brightness) 2.) USB-C power on one port, USB-C video(higher brightness). It can mirror an Android screen in this configuration(have not test with Apple). 3.) USB-C power and mini-hdmi to hdmi (ideal) Speakers are tinny, low volume, ok in a pinch. Headphone jack on the side works well. The ports are well fitted too. The built-in cover acts as a 2-position stand and is VESA mountable or a 1/4-20 thread screw. Best of all, it’s $80 at any Walmart!
Both of your recommendations are ,indeed, similar but the one thing that makes the original listing unique is that it puts out 300 nits of brightness whereas practically all the other used/refurb 15.6" portable monitors on eBay only put out 250 nits. It's no wonder that it sold out so quickly; especially at that price.
I agree with you. There are many specifications where most people wouldn't be able to detect an incremental change unless doing a side by side comparison. For instance, my neighbors set out to buy a 55" TV for their bedroom but changed their plans when they saw a really good sale on a 75" unit. They figured, even though it was over their original budget, they could buy it to upgrade the 70" TV in the living room. After moving the 70" upstairs and replacing it with the new 75", they were disappointed that the new TV didn't seem any bigger than the original TV. However, the fact is that a 75" TV *is* bigger than a 70" TV and a 300 nits monitor *is* brighter than a 250 nits model.
OOS but there are other very similar listings for the same model PM161Q from Acer's Ebay store. Used - Very Good $35: https://www.ebay.com/itm/267229717756 Certified Refurb $45: https://www.ebay.com/itm/267228772305 Fantastic portable display that can be driven over one cable. I am using one as my second display for my main rig, positioned below my main monitor. Perfect as a spotify/discord panel with a built-in stand.
Just got this monitor 2 weeks ago brand new at Bestbuy, not this cheap but still worth it to me. I use it to plug and play on old Xbox 360 and it looks great. Has a decent OSD menu for customization and even has built in speakers that work well enough in a pinch.
i went with this one for 300 nits vs 250. I hope it's bright!
I think the listing may have lied to us. Looking up that model shows 250 nits. Even their other listings in other conditions says 250.
