I use a random Acer one from Walmart, it's got the tablet like case on it so you can stand it up however you want, uses basically no power so I run it on a powerbank

It's really solid, it hasn't left my bag since I bought it, just keep up with the cables, it comes with all you need basically. The USB c cable it comes with is for video

This is a reprise of the "Good - Refurbished" Acer Portable Monitor that went OOS real quick. Out of curiosity I went on eBay to look for alternatives to the $33 one, and I found that Acer sells Certified Refurbished units with a two year warranty - this differed from the $33 "Good - Refurnished" units. Not only that, but there are a bunch of different variants of the same PM161Q monitor. This one in my post, then there are these: 4 ms, 250 Nit, $41.84: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256465547378 6 ms, 250 Nit, $41.84: https://www.ebay.com/itm/267229702829 20 ms, 250 nit, $41.84 (???): https://www.ebay.com/itm/276789897235 5 ms, 250 nit, $46.49: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256124120381 This one appears to be the closest to the one that went out of stock earlier. You have to dig into the description to pull the "variant" model number, they are named weird stuff like "Abmiuuzx" and "BBMIUUX" and I have NO idea what they mean. And unlike the other listing (which has the same variant model number) this one says it's 250 Nits, NOT 300 Nits. Oh, and guess what, it gets even MORE confusing because you can also buy their widescreen 1920 x 1200 version (PM161W), that ALSO has variants: 1920 x 1200, 6 ms, 220 Nit, $55.79: https://www.ebay.com/itm/277589829030 1920 x 1200, 6 ms, 220 Nit, $64.16: https://www.ebay.com/itm/257255335814 Can anyone help me figure out what the hell the differences between these models are other than the response time? Acer's own listings for specs are all over the place - sometimes they have the specs listed in the description, sometimes in the dedicated "Specs" section, sometimes their numbers don't match (listing says 20ms response time, specs say 5ms), etc. I just picked this one because the variant model letter was the highest (starts with J) and it was one of the cheapest variants.

Good on you to point out the variants. It's confusing which one's which - their individual specs are small and it drives me nuts lol There's a model number and a variant number in these, pay attention to the variant number if you want to differentiate them.

Did you look at the SKU or did you look at the sub-model number? They're both the PM161Q but what separates them is separate MPN: Abmiuuzx for this one. Also I've seen this for sale by third parties with different boxes - one comes in a plain brown box, others have it in a grey box.

I have an Acer PM161Q and it’s pretty solid. I’ve been playing Battlefield 6 all week on it while traveling. 2 USB-C and a mini-hdmi. It can use: 1.) a single USB-C for both video/power(limited brightness) 2.) USB-C power on one port, USB-C video(higher brightness). It can mirror an Android screen in this configuration(have not test with Apple). 3.) USB-C power and mini-hdmi to hdmi (ideal) Speakers are tinny, low volume, ok in a pinch. Headphone jack on the side works well. The ports are well fitted too. The built-in cover acts as a 2-position stand and is VESA mountable or a 1/4-20 thread screw. Best of all, it’s $80 at any Walmart!

Both of your recommendations are ,indeed, similar but the one thing that makes the original listing unique is that it puts out 300 nits of brightness whereas practically all the other used/refurb 15.6" portable monitors on eBay only put out 250 nits. It's no wonder that it sold out so quickly; especially at that price.

I agree with you. There are many specifications where most people wouldn't be able to detect an incremental change unless doing a side by side comparison. For instance, my neighbors set out to buy a 55" TV for their bedroom but changed their plans when they saw a really good sale on a 75" unit. They figured, even though it was over their original budget, they could buy it to upgrade the 70" TV in the living room. After moving the 70" upstairs and replacing it with the new 75", they were disappointed that the new TV didn't seem any bigger than the original TV. However, the fact is that a 75" TV *is* bigger than a 70" TV and a 300 nits monitor *is* brighter than a 250 nits model.

OOS but there are other very similar listings for the same model PM161Q from Acer's Ebay store. Used - Very Good $35: https://www.ebay.com/itm/267229717756 Certified Refurb $45: https://www.ebay.com/itm/267228772305 Fantastic portable display that can be driven over one cable. I am using one as my second display for my main rig, positioned below my main monitor. Perfect as a spotify/discord panel with a built-in stand.

Just got this monitor 2 weeks ago brand new at Bestbuy, not this cheap but still worth it to me. I use it to plug and play on old Xbox 360 and it looks great. Has a decent OSD menu for customization and even has built in speakers that work well enough in a pinch.

I think the listing may have lied to us. Looking up that model shows 250 nits. Even their other listings in other conditions says 250.

Review: I got this model as far as condition there was absolutely nothing on the screen only a scratch on the metal in the back that doesnt affect anything. It looks pretty decent and sharp for the price color are alright little too much yellow by default imo
